I saw an interesting picture of what the "6" is a possible silhouette of.
"If I could strike one blow to spite their force, though I might bear one hundred more, I would wear the welts like rubies, and the shackles for a crown. And if I had one hundred hearts I would throw them all before their bullets before I'd sell a single one to wield their power. So lest we fall out of love with life, let us give all we have to give - for only a fool would cling to this world."

Does it involve a giraffe and a woman? I think we saw the same picture...

YES!

Best interpretation of a Resident Evil logo ever, I'd say haha

The publisher says that the third playable character is a mercenary, and that his sections of the game will be set during a bloody conflict in Eastern Europe, where infected mutants run wild. Meanwhile, Chris's part of the narrative will take place in the fictional Chinese village of Lanshiang, where he is apparently recovering from a "personal trauma."

Capcom also said that Leon's new partner is Helena Harper, a government agent tasked with protecting the President.

A new mutation of zombie, known as J'avo, has also been detailed. Described as "incredibly aggressive," the new monster will be able to regenerate. If it sustains serious damage, it is able to mutate the damaged limb into "a number of varied forms," forcing the player to rethink their approach.

A revised control system has also been confirmed by Capcom. Players will now be able to shoot while moving, as well as take cover, slide to cover, and roll. Melee will also be significantly expanded upon.

It's also been announced that the game takes place in 2013, a full 15 years after the events in the original Resident Evil.

Original story follows:

New Resident Evil 6 information has emerged out of Japan.

According to Japanese magazine Famitsu, the President of the United States seen in the game's debut trailer is not the father of Resident Evil 4 character Ashley Graham, but is instead the President that takes office after Graham.

This fits with information we've previously reported, as our sources tell us that the blonde woman in the trailer many people assume is Ashley Graham is actually Sherry Birkin, daughter of Resident Evil 2's villain, William Birkin.

Yeah right, people have been guessing at that payoff since Code Veronica, but it always turns out to be something stupid (most egregiously a bleached Jill). It's Wesker in disguise! :iva:

Same goes for the "mercenary." Would make too much sense for it to be Hunk, so he'll just be some random loser.

Here are a few bits about Resident Evil 6 from this week's famitsu.

- The game is 50% complete.

- While they're aiming to bring back the feeling of horror with the game, this isn't an attempt to return the series back to it's origins.

- They're aiming for the greatest volume in series history.

- The game's third main character is meant to be someone young people can relate to.

- The President shown in the trailer - the one who attacks Leon - is the president who followed Ashley's dad.

- The zombies in the game did not become zombies due to the T-Virus.

- They're aiming to make it a Resident Evil that is enjoyable to control, with a revamped control scheme. You'll be able to move slowly left and right while holding your gun, and perform such moves as 180 degree turn, quick front/back/side evade, covering and so forth.

Capcom has released more info through their unity blog. They confirm that the game takes place in 2013 and that Chris' scenario takes place in Lanshiang, a fictional Chinese coastal town.

More info about the characters and BOW's

Leon S. Kennedy After the Raccoon City Incident, Leon was recruited into government service by one Adam Benford, who would go on to become the current in-game President of the United States. Helena Harper is one of the President’s personal bodyguards and admits to Leon she is responsible for the incident in Resident Evil 6. Ingrid Hunnigan is a field operations support specialist who has worked with Leon before.

Chris Redfield, leader of the BSAA, faced personal trauma six months before the events in Resident Evil 6. He meets his team in China to investigate a bioterrorist attack. Chris, Leon, and a mysterious third protagonist are playable characters. The man with the shaven head is a mercenary engaged in a conflict in Eastern Europe where B.O.W.s are being used. Someone tells him he’s the man to save the world and instead of heroically stepping up to the plate he thinks about how much the job will pad his wallet.

Zombies return in Resident Evil 6 and this time they’re smart enough to use weapons. Instead of staggering towards players they will run and jump at you. J’avo are a new B.O.W. found in Eastern Europe six months before the events in Resident Evil 6. These creatures still understand human speech and will work together with other J’avos as a group. J’avo can regenerate and if heavily damaged mutate body parts into different forms.

Resident Evil 6 will have a new control scheme that lets players shoot while moving and take cover. You will be able to evade attacks by rolling or sliding in any direction and strike back with melee attacks.

I don't know, sounds like more of the same with some pretty unappealing decisions and half-measures. Like the zombies that aren't any more less zombies than the previous non-zombie zombies, or overall the non-return to form return to form they're sort of selling, but not really. Worst of all though...

That raises a good question: is it the same team working on RE6 than did RE: Rev? I would imagine not if the game is already 50% complete... Regrettable.

:judo: My whole child hood was a lie...

To make this short, all I got to say is that most of this should have happened a long time ago. Too many RE's focused on introducing new characters, and building up Wesker's secret plans while lurking in the shadows. Since RE 4, Ada has been talking about "her secret intents." I'm sure the "C Virus" (REALLY ANOTHER ONE!?) is not what the original creator had in mind.  The return of Steve???, Sherry, Ada, all of it should have been elements in RE 4, and RE 5. Instead new characters, entire story arc's were introduced, postponing resolve towards already established characters and story.

Hell, why not bring in Barry? Or Ark? Or Nicoli? Don't want to make too much story progress! It seems they finally decided to pull out all the stops. I guess to have done that, they had to kill off Wesker. The person they been building for over half the damn series. Now we get his test tube side project.

Is it me or do the graphics look like a down grade from previous installments? Whats up with that? Leon looks insanely different from RE4 to me.

All past flaws aside, seeing these storyline threads coming together is pretty exciting. A long time coming. (Although, I think Shinji would have of course done it all very differently.) I never put a lot of thought in the possibility of seeing Chris and Leon at odds. I never figured Ada for a villain, more so a double agent for a greater cause. RE6 might have some good things to offer it seems. I won't hold my breath.

Wesker was a cancer for the series. His death is the best thing that could have happened to it. Wesker Jr. is just a funny reminder that Capcom's plots will always be ridiculous.

I don't think they're a downgrade. And Leon looks markedly older.

I never figured Ada for a villain, more so a double agent for a greater cause.

I've forgotten Sherry existed.  So, if my memory doesn't fail me... Wasn't she immune to the G Virus?  I'm sure Wesker Jr. will also have the same biological resistance as his father.  I wonder what Capcom is going to make of this.  :ganishka:

In Resident Evil 2 she got infected and you had to synthesize an antidote for her, but as far as I remember we aren't told whether that made her permanently immune to it or not.

"NO GODDAMMIT!!!" It's like a metaphor for the whole thing, "not again!" Pure entertainment. :guts:

So... The C-Virus (like CHINA, you know)
I think we should start taking bets on who Capcom has up for the next Resident Evil; Koreans, Chinese...?

That was easy. :badbone:

Is it me or do the graphics look like a down grade from previous installments? Whats up with that? Leon looks insanely different from RE4 to me.

Well, technically the graphics certainly aren't worse than RE4's, but you could argue they're way off model (I don't visually recognize half the established characters, and if they set everything during broad daylight like RE5 it won't look better than 4). Anyway, this is consistent with Leon's special trait of turning into a totally different version of himself in each game. It's only a matter of time before it's revealed he has multiple personality disorder. Seriously though, I think Leon had to tone down the emo and man up if he's going to believably go toe to toe with Creatine Redfield.

Leon vs Chris stuff is just cheesy enough to keep me interested!  :ubik:

"Dude!?" "Bro!?"
It's the final brodown! Will Leon win it for the dudes, and hoes (Ada), or will Chris score a decisive knockout for bros, and muscles, everywhere. :daiba:

Wesker was a cancer for the series. His death is the best thing that could have happened to it. Wesker Jr. is just a funny reminder that Capcom's plots will always be ridiculous.

Yeah, Wesker Jr. is about the best thing they could have done with/for Wesker's character at this point, giving him a legacy. He had been so over-written there was simply nowhere else to go, and now they can start fresh but keep the flame alive. Best thing for this new character too: SON OF WESKER! It's like Son of Frankenstein. I actually like this character now, one hand washes the other in a sense (his Weskerness makes up for his newness and vice versa), and he even has a little Jesse Pinkman in him, crossed with Jeremy Renner. Anyway, he has the potential to be intriguing and edgy in ways Wesker hasn't been in a decade. Viva la Wesker Jr!

Oh don't worry, I'm sure she won't really be completely evil. You know, same old story. :slan:

In other words, it'll be as nonsensical as ever. Still, what if Leon ultimately has to... *gasp* kill Ada?

Indeed. Chris is basically the übermensch at this point. My dream for RE6 is to have him kill a tyrant bare-handed.

The absolute best would be for her to be a true villainess because of some misguided goals/ideals, but to have her ultimately sacrifice herself to save Leon, finding redemption as she lay dying in his arms.

That'd be fantastic, but eventually I want to see Chris actually become a tyrant. It'd be like Guts in the berserk armor. It should at least become a plot point that Chris is a most desirable candidate for such bio-weaponization; a tyrant destroying tyrant (we need more mad scientists in the series in general =)!

Just wait till Jill jumps out of a vat and starts bitchslapping Ada around! :daiba:

I'd say Jill automatically makes any Resident Evil game she's in better, but they went out of their way to disprove that in 5; to the point that they had to go back in time to redeem her. They should give her a rejuvenating cameo here.

Don't forget that he bangs Sherry too. Their offspring would be the Kwisatz Haderach or something.

I agree the trailer was satisfying enough for what we could expect from a RE game.
Even if I really liked the Hunk idea, Wesker Jr. is no more or less ridiculous than any of the other inconsistencies of the previous games. In the end, that's what we love about the series... I guess?
