Berserk Movie OST

Why doesn't Aria sound anything like Japanese? Can say the same with Sign ( although I can catch some japanese word)... Is it because Susumu Hirasawa sings those songs fast or he used old Japanese or something?

Don't know what language it is. Definitely not Japanese though. Sometimes he picks some other languages and mixes them together. He often uses obscure, surreal wording for his lyrics even in Japanese.

Is there a real translation of the AI song out there? Google made me curious, and I'm really frustrated it's the only music we don't have the lyrics for... (together with Aria, but that's way more complicated)

Anyone knows if a good translation has been made? I really want to see it. :judo:

I'm posting two links below for fan sites that have rather good translations of a number of Hirasawa's songs for those interested! The tumblr site has translations for Hirasawa's Berserk songs as well as an interesting article in regard to Sign. It also has some very cool translations of conversations with the late director Satoshi Kon regarding his work with Hirasawa. The owner of the Phonon Belt site translates twitter posts and other writings from Hirasawa along with songs from both his solo and P-MODEL days.

I don't recall if the link for the lyrics to AI's "Beautiful Things" was posted on pg 38 of the news thread or not but here they are.

AI Beautiful Things (Lyrics)

If I had wings

Fly high
何度でも 諦めずに
今日も進もう 振り向かない
いつの日か 愛されたい
ただ それだけ

でも 今は 独りで

Neat. Still can't tell what language it is though...

Do you know about Sign?

Here are the lyrics, dunno how accurate they are but they do sound so when I hear it. They kinda look japanese to me, maybe as you said, he uses surreal and obscure words even for Japanese?

Yes, and we have a thread about the lyrics for it here: http://www.skullknight.net/forum/index.php?topic=4088.msg93007#msg93007 Hirasawa often incorporates words and phrases that are from other cultures, such as the words in Thailandese in Sign.

Where? Did you forget to link them? Either way, the lyrics subtitled in that NicoNico video aren't Japanese. It's written in katakana, which is a Japanese alphabet used to convey words that aren't native to Japan. Even beyond that, it doesn't sound Japanese at all. If I had to guess, I'd say it was German, Russian, or some other East-European language.

Oops sorry http://www.leoslyrics.com/susumu-hirasawa/sign-lyrics/

I really doubt it was German, Russian or some other East-European. It looks more Asian to me. I'm pretty sure it's not Russian ( unless there's some other version of Russian I don't know ) Same with German.

Could it be ancient Japanese as someone mentioned by someone on the thread you posted? ( talking about Sign )
It uses the word "dousite" ( I thought it's written as doushte but whatever ) which means Why in Japanese

and mentions Raimei as thunder, and I think that " Rai " is some kind of word for Lightning in Japanese, a synonym of Kawarimi maybe?

Not sure about Aria though, could be the same, or Thai since Hirawesome got inspired by them

This is nothing new. It's Macop's interpretation (what Walter linked you to). He posted it on our forum almost 7 years ago (and that website likely took it from us).

It's neither Russian nor German, and probably isn't an Asian language either. If you check the link Julalien posted a week ago, it lists some tweets from Hirasawa where he basically says that the words are made-up.

Found a translation that's pretty accurate.

A gentle wind blows
On the water floats the moon
I cannot grasp it, despite my will
Sway and shine

Picking up the pieces of hope
Only to lose them again
Then for what, for whom
Do I fight?

These wavering thoughts
Concealed inside this heart
What lies ahead
I do not know

Still, no matter
I will move forward
Don’t want to drown repeatedly in dreams
At this rate, life cannot go on
With these hands; the light of tomorrow

Raising my head, I ask
Will tomorrow bring the same sky?
Like a hawk, I’d fly high
If I had wings

With the flow of clouds
Soaring high in the air
No suffering, no pain
Does such a place exist?

Wishing to feel the light
But now in the darkness
My voice, no one can hear

Still, no matter
I will move forward
Don’t want to drown repeatedly in dreams
At this rate, life cannot go on
Something irreplaceable; for their sake

Now, a place without suffering
In pursuit, smoldering, into the flames

The seasons go round and round
From here, let us start a new journey
Now, this moment, hold your head high

Oh, warrior
Like a hawk, fly high
Over and over again, never giving up
Moving forward today, never looking back
I wish someday to be loved
That’s all

But for now I am on my own

Good job for posting, the lyrics are good.

Oh and if I didn't misunderstand what Hirasawa said in twitter ( used google translate ), he mentioned Berserk film and said he sent 2 more songs to the Studio or something. I hope he meant Studio 4'C

The soundtrack for the second film will be released on June 20th according to VAP's official site for the series here: http://www.vap.co.jp/berserk/film2.html.

This is probably jumping ahead to the third film but I can't wait to see what sort of lyrics SK's theme will have.... :troll:

I like more the ending song of IA, that of Hirasawa. This Japanese girl sings very well in a karaoke.

Truly she does ( I actually prefer this girl over the original singer), and the ending song wasn't bad at all, but Aria is more genial

10 days later edit:

I've seen this from quite a while now (August actually) but always forgot to post it

This is presumably Aria's lyrics, the romaji posted on the voice only version I posted above
Although it's not confirmed, and some words don't seem to be same with what Hirasawa is singing,
I have 2 reasons to at least consider that these might be the right lyrics of Aria
1) Very good gibberish, although not impossible, it seems hard that someone other than Hirasawa wrote it
2) The most used word in Aria according to these lyrics ( in combination with other words that create a new longer word, dunno how you call it in english ) which seems to be "Kura" seems to be combined with the most used word in Forces II, "Iiya" ( I also hear it in Sign but Sign hasn't got any valid lyrics) which is most likely a Hirasawanese word, to create the word "Kuraaiiya" that according to these lyrics is used on the most epic part of Aria, it's also the last used word in Aria.
(Fun fact: Forces 2, Sign and Aria's last 2 letters in the song are "ya")

Aria's lyrics aren't in Japanese, they're in a fictional language. Not the first time Hirasawa does it. Don't waste your time with these attempts to decipher it.

I know they're not in Japanese, didn't say they were, but just maybe these are the original lyrics (in Hirasawanese presented in romaji) that Hirasawa wrote

They're what a fan wrote down by ear. You said yourself it didn't always sound like what Hirasawa's singing... Just saying, your own guess is as good as that of whoever made that video.
