As reported by Anime on DVD, Berserk the manga has been licensed by Digital Manga and Dark Horse. Don't have too much detail beyond that at this point.

Put your glasses on, nothing will be wrong........
Yea i read that too. I hope there will be no censorship if its actually true. Cause if it was censored, the manga would be cut in half! All i can hope for is that they do the manga justice.

Dark Horse should have no problem with its content. Is digital manga the translators? sux if they dont use Proteus, they rock!

No flipped pages!! But only three volumes? ???

"Dark Horse and Digital Manga will present Berserk as three volumes in a non-westernized format"

EDIT: Oh wait, they probably mean they'll release the first three volumes at once to start this manga off.

are most translated mangas read from right to left or is this odd?

Most translated manga now is left in the original right to left format, but in the past all manga translated was released in the flipped left to right format.

Dark Horse?! Sweet!!! =D

They handled Gunsmith Cats with some **ahem** lewd stuff in it. Plus they brought out Blade of the Immortal to judge the blood and violence scale. Didn't they also release Akira...?... Can't remember. Anyhow, no worries about censoring, if that is even in their area of power =P But that's what I think...

Gonna do something, or just stand there and bleed?
They took out quite a bit of stuff from GitS...

And they totally killed The Thing in comic format...

Shirow requested that the couple pages of sexually explicit stuff be removed from Ghost in the Shell.

3-14-03---- Latest Berserk Manga Exclusives
ANS has bagged a few more exclusive news bits on the highly anticipated Berserk manga release coming jointly from Dark Horse and Digital Manga Publishing in the fall of 2003. According to Digital Manga, their newly launched publishing division will be handling full translations and production as well as liasing with Japanese licensors with Dark Horse doing the pre-press, printing and distribution. Dual logos will be featured on the cover with Japanese style right to left read structure and original Japanese sound effects. No dust jacket will acompany the volumes which will not be serialized and come exclusively in graphic novel (Tankobon) format. Volumes 1-3 have been confirmed as in the pipe with an intent to publish the entire series. North American rights including the USA and Canada. In the states look for a $12.95ish cover target pricepoint. Distribution is still being nailed down, the book may go monthly or bimonthly depending on a number of factors that will become ironed out soon. Finally for the minute, Chris Warner will serve as editor and DMP's Fred Lui will spearhead Production Management.

I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Here in Brazil, the mangá was also licensed and it will begin to be published in May of this year! However with the news that the mangá will be published by the American publisher Dark Horse it is already having protests of the fans so that the Brazilian version is not the one of her, because this publisher is famous in censuring mangás like Gunsmith Cats, Ghost in the Shell, etc.But I think will be even the Japanese version, because the publisher already hired lawyers to take care of the laws of the censorship!
But, I hope the American version doesn't have any problem with that! Here will leave the whole series (I wait), 1 a month (half of a Japanese edition) and as it will be long about 4 years to arrive in the current history, I will continue buying the Japanese version! :)

i heard that Shirow asked DH to edit out some of the explicit material in GitS. but, it seems like they havent censored any other manga in recent years, so i dont think theyll censor berserk.
id hope not anyway.

They might alter the ages of some of the underage characters, maybe since there is some underage children in it -__-
Then again, the anime had that scene left in for the U.S. release with out altering so I don't know if they'd consider it child porn

trying is the first step towards failure
Dark Horse has been wanting to translate Berserk for almost a year. Last year at Wizard World's Chicago Con, Dark Horse's booth had some cards with Guts on them. The guy who was running the booth told me that Proteus was having problems translating some of the text in Berserk.
