The LAPD isn't really helping their case when they do shit like this.

Seriously. The suspect is a large, black male. The man in the above story is a skinny white male, who was driving a completely different make and model of the car in question. I read the manifesto, and while crazy and riddle with tons of shit that shouldn't be there (the putting a bullet in the heads of two officers, etc), he does make some sense about the internal politics of any major civil service entity.

They're also reopening the case in 2007 that started all of this. So, if that's any indication of where this is headed, then yeah. Regardless of what happens, the LAPD has already made huge asses of themselves, so there's going to be some political backfire as well as some possible restructuring--especially with another event that's getting national attention.

He may have been wronged originally, but clearly this isn't the right way to go about it. Especially not the killing of Monica Quan and her boyfriend, who had nothing to do with it.

Anyway, this has certainly become a clusterfuck and the LAPD's not going to come out of this looking very good.

In a way I sympathize with the guy, but going on a rampage and murdering people who had nothing to do with the incidents in question is way too far, as Aaz said. I'm not sure what he could have done to bring about change, but surely this was not the way to go about it... even if it might bring some of the changes he was hoping for, or at least a renewed focus on the actions and practices of the LAPD, who immediately go out and do things like this: http://jalopnik.com/5983152/lapd-to-women-sorry-for-shooting-you-heres-a-new-truck

My opinion is this Dorn guy is not nearly as bad as the rest of the force.

At this point I just hope something good can come out of what is essentially a growing string of tragedies, with everyone involved at blame.
