I wouldn't say "prickish," it's just sort of embarrassing to dress up Dan Brown's tripe as something greater than it is. He's not bad. He's just not exceptional, yet he's given such a huge pulpit by media. He writes standard, page-turning genre fiction, of the same quality as hundreds of authors, but tapped into a huge market by broaching Christian taboo with Da Vinci Code.
