Halloween Costume 2015
« on: October 12, 2015, 11:27:12 PM »
Wife made our daughter a handcrafted Schierke costume.  I made Rakshas, but it was pretty easy compared to hers.

Fantastic work, even down to the gnarled staff. Hat looks perfect, and even things like the length of the cape compared to the robe itself. Bravo!  :ubik:

Curious, what did she think of it? And is that a wig?

Thanks guys!  We used removable hair spray for the color.  She wore it for a bit, but all the pictures had her patience down to 0.  I think in a few years we may resize it and try again.  22 months old now, so it gets very random with costumes.

Your daughter makes a terrific Schierke! I don't know much about kids, but imagine it must have taken some effort to get a 22-month old to sit still long enough to put her in a costume and then take decent pictures. :daiba: But it looks like it all worked out! I love the little details. There's even a little squiggle to her collar! Kudos to your wife for her fantastic work!

Also, loving the Rakshas costume. I have a feeling you're going to confuse a lot of little old ladies if you take your kid out trick-or-treating in that thing, but you know, great sacrifices must be made for art. :rakshas:

This is fantastic, Salem. Your daughter is absolutely adorable as Schierke. Especially that picture of her with the staff.

A couple years ago I considered throwing together a Rakshas costume because I thought it might be fairly easy and fun. But then I started thinking about how I wanted to do the mask and it got complicated quickly. I think your's has come out way better than mine would have and I love the LEDs. It'll definitely look super creepy walking around at night. :rakshas:

Now, you just need to work on your contortion skills and get some great pictures!

Thanks!  I actually have him mounted on some wood with a desk lamp and red bulb.  Sort of a statue, I suppose.  Thinkng of moving him in the hallway after everyone is asleep some night, but I may get a pillow over my face.  :rakshas:  For now, just chilling in the basement.

Delta Phi, I thought about this last year and never did it, but I found a flat chrome "faceless" mask online.  The local Halloween shop had one and with a little spray paint and a marker anyone can make him.  The only thing that I wasn't sure about were the teeth.  Ended up cutting wood and supergluing it on....A couple different occasions.

Salem your daughter is adorable! Your costumes are amazing! :)

I wanted to ask, I noticed you have the same line of mini Berserk figures from Japan that I own. Do you find it's hard to get Femto to stand up? The way they made him he is very off center.

Haha, good eye.  YES!  Absolute design flaw.  I not only have/had issues with him falling, but the stand flailing off of him, so I glued him to his base.  It's like mounting a broom upside down on a cereal bowl.

That is so cute!  :guts: What a great job your wife did on the Schierke costume and Rakshas is cool, too!  :rakshas:

That is simply adorable  :schierke: Great effort on both costumes! It's really nice to see somebody use their creative talents like that. On a side note, I noticed your berserk wall scroll. Isn't that the one with the slug count? I just ordered that one too!  :ubik:

Way too broad in the shoulders to do Rakshas again, lol.

Such a good Rakshas and super cute Schierke, great choice Salem! The last pic cracked me up too ... that 'What's this thing!?' look on the kids face and a softie Rakshas is an adorable sight.
