I've finally watched this episode, took my sweet time... I wasn't stocked about it but I figured that having suffered through 11 episodes, I could at least watch the finale....
And what a let down as usual, I won't speak of the music since
several every poster ITT already pointed all the flaws... still, IIRC (I didn't rewatch any of the episodes), that was the first time I loudly proclaimed "Oh come on!" instead of thinking "Wow that sucks".
Let's try to be positive:
- I liked Silat much more in this adaptation (as opposed to the third movie), same voice actor (Yūichi Nakamura, "Greed" from FMA Brotherhood and Cid from FF XIII among
many other voices) but this time he didn't sound like a sadist getting a kick out of beating Casca up, I thought that was kind of out of character in the movies...
So decent improvement in the voice acting for that chara, but he didn't look as good as in "Descent".
- Puck was overall (relatively, compared to the rest of that mess) fun and pretty well done, if you omit his healing skills shown once (I think), after Pepe got whipped. And it was a background event, easy to miss.
Aaaaand I'm struggling to find some more positives things to say.
I remember when I was completely disappointed when I bought the "Blade of the Immortal" 13 episodes (just covering the beginning of the manga) anime adaptation (this manga was one of the first I bought, and it's still comfortably in my top 3).
I also thought that the "Kingdom" (I'm quite fond of this manga, it's not Berserk/BoTi/Vagabond tiers but I still enjoy it a lot) anime adaptation was a disaster (especially season 1) but compared to what I've witnessed these last few weeks, the second season almost look good in comparison...
"Berserk 2016" is just on a whole other level.
And since I'm the "Berserk dude" in my circle of anime-enthusiasts friends, I can only say "Wait this is not what it looks like

" even if surprisingly they enjoyed it a lot (like a lot of people on the internet apparently).
I get a lot of questions but I don't want to spoil the manga for them... so I pointed some of them to=>
It makes the Golden Age Trilogy look brilliant by comparison, and I had a lot of issues with that as well.
... our friend
ApostleBob's excellent "Berserk Redux" Golden Age 4 movies, if they want to learn about Guts past but don't really read manga/like anime better it was the best option.
So thanks a lot Bob, never got the chance to congratulate you

It was a very ambitious project, but you put so much effort in it, I couldn't not recommend it to friends who want to know what happened previously (when reading the manga is not an option for various reasons).
Ok, I'm off to listen to the Walter/Aaz podcast, that should be... interesting

Let's hope that they will have learned from their mistakes and that Berserk 2017 will be a notch above this mess.
Has Kentaro Miura commentated on this season? I remember the infamous "Miura had an enigmatic smile after watching "The Egg of the King"
