The Art of Rapaz!

hi guys!!!

let's post some images of the tutorial I am doing on the berserk armor!!! :)
starting from the helmet!

these sketches are made to clarify my ideas and method cause i want to create a good and "professional" video tutorial.

6 steps, try to follow them and post your results so we can discuss and improve :)

next part will be on contrasts and lights-shadows!!

hope you appreciate my efforts

Cool tutorial, Rapaz! I imagine this will be helpful for folks who are intimidated by some of the complexity in Miura's armor designs, or for people who are lazy and like shortcuts (aka myself). :griffnotevil:

Hi guys,

i decided to try to animate berserk (only little random scenes for the moment) to understand better what kind of medias to use and how to organize the massive work it means.

i was thinking about 2 ways of animation:

1) full 2d animation using both manual and digital drawing/coloring

2) 3d hand-built and painted dioramas for environments and Rotoscoping for characters (so create good cosplays and use credible actors)

i started with the 2d animation just because i can do it by myself and don't need much more than my computer and some pencils/paper.

here the first test i am working on, it's really complicated and long and i's still work in progress but i start to understand better what and how to do it.

here what i started to do (it's more a video board than a finished animation):

let me know what do you think about it, both suggestions and insults are well received!!! :)

holy crap that is sick! :isidro: :guts: What you have going on here is very good. Maybe one day I will learn animation techniques. I personally think you should go with 2d animation using both manual and digital drawing/coloring.

It looks great! I prefer the black and white one. But man you have a lot of work ahead of you.

Doing a portion of the Lost Children would be cool since it's the one area that's never had any related animation.

I agree with Vixen, your stuff looks amazing, Especially the 2D hand drawn stuff. Maybe even ask around what kind of scenes people would like to see a little animation for. Maybe even use them as GIFs for peoples profiles and stuff.

And YES Lost Children would be an amazing place to start...

Also there is a Berserk fan group making digital animations of the manga. I don't have the info for them but I bet they would love your help!

Wow. If this is something you're passionate about I hope you continue. Both styles are so different, but the second would be my preference in style, though I like the look of color when animated.

Terrific work, Rapaz! You know it's funny, Lith and I have talked in the past about doing something similar ourselves, but it's so difficult that I never actually got around to it. :ganishka: I like your approach, though - it's like a moving colored page of the manga! All it needs is some creepy music in the background.

Perhaps you guys can team up and create a fan-made Berserk limited animation series. Like Clutch Cargo

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clutch_Cargo#Technique

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOljPoMWy2o

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FBlVtzcsUk

That airplane of Clutch Cargo's that you see "flying"? It's actually a filmed drawing of an airplane being physically dragged across a drawing of a sky :ganishka:

The second way with dioramas and rotoscoping sounds electrifying.
There arent many things made like that, so it makes the idea even more interesting,
At least for the visuals.

Hats down for the initiative. If I had any animation talent I'd defitively help you. As DANGERDOOM said, this is better than our latest adaption, I'd choose you style over theirs.

Hope you keep up the work.

I think Zodd would be better with a more round and defined overall shape. And to compensate that making him less scarier, you could show more of his teeth!

Hey, that was pretty good. In fact, it kinds of matches the sound I heard in my head when he spoke :p
Awesome job!
