Favorite Female Characters

If there was anyone who gets my vote for favorite female characters I would have to say two women: Caska and Luca. Caska for her courage and prowess on the battlefield and for her loyalty to Griffith even though she knew her dream was already dead ( both dreams, perhaps...her interest in Griffith was both romantic AND one of soldierly loyalty, to be the sword by his side...til Guts came along of course) . Her inner struggle and pain...her survival of several rape attempts ( though she was left insane...who could blame her after all the shit she went through during the eclipse??) andhopefully one day soon she will regain her sanity and return to being the kick ass woman she is meant to be.

Luca: the prostitute with the heart of gold...how many times did she risk herself for that little blonde thing???? Her goodness just seemed to good to be true. She shared her little wealth among her sisters in sin. Even SK thought she was a real natural...never asking anyone for help. Jerome really liked this girl!

I would also daresay Slann. The woman has the body of sin and the hair of Medusa. I felt sorry for the Godhand trapped with this babe. But then...she's the first God Hand to get slain. So I can't really add her to my list if she's already dead LOL.

The story has some good female characters. By far I have to say Caska gets my vote for being a kick ass beauty.

Farnese was an interesting, complex character. Not much of a warrior at all though, but I found her behavior and history fascinating yet eerie. And I also like the complicated relationship she has with Serpico. My favorite female character for sure, perhpas favorite overall.

I had always considered Caska to be one of the few...maybe the only, respectable female anime character. Of course that was before reading the manga, and discovering that she's pretty much under contract to show boobies at least once, in every volume. ::) Oh well.

Makkuro

El pueblo unido jamás será vencido!
Caska was a flawed, but very sympathetic character. I could not help but like her, partly because I identified with her.

This journey isn't ov--AARGH!
Lady Griffith has to be my favourite ;)

But Slann is my favourite female character, simply because she's so sadistic.

Farnese is definitely my favorite female character. And for the exact same reasons Soulcrasher mentioned here.

Roshinu would probably be my second favorite female, if she only had been given a somewhat larger role in the manga.

How, Caska? How could you not pounce this man?
I go with Luca. I admire her a lot...

...then there was Roshinu, who was such an interesting character that I couldn't help but like her too - and of course Jill. Jill is a very strong and brave little girl. ^_^

Still through and through more and more im starting to like farnese. You can see her as she psycologically evolves from cowerdly religious fanatic, zealous to only her religions reasoning and nothing else. To beleiving in other wordly events that gutts has shown her its pretty butter to see her break away slowly.

I'm smiling on the inside.
I really like most of the female characters in Berserk, Caska being my favorite because she doesn't take any crap from anyone, not even Gatts (at least pre-apocalypse).
Farnese is probably the character who has evolved the most out of all the female characters, and for that I admire her.

Caska, Luca, and Farnese. I just can't choose among them. They each have such strong points as characters, albeit in different ways.

Luca: Lady Griffith captured all of her attributes except for one-she's one of the few characters in anime or manga with good taste in men: Jerome :). He's a good, solid, reliable, and likeable choice.

As for Farnese, well, talk about complicated! Definitely not a white or black cardboard cutout. Characters like her, given her past perchant for burning people to death and mixing it with unhealthy bouts of sexual repression and expression, usually wind up dead after degenerating into the "evil vixen woman" stereotype (aka Slann). Thankfully, that didn't happen to her. I like seeing her growth and transformation into a better human being, at least one able to control or channel her perverse passions and demonstrate responsibility for others.

Give her some time and she MIGHT (mind you, I said might) even learn how to fight more effectively (hey it is possible!), especially if she has to protect Caska all the time. After all, do you think Caska started out as a good fighter; Moreover, Caska didn't have the "obstacles" of Serpico, Azan, and a buck of H.I.C.K.s being overprotective.

Finally, the "old" Caska was ,of course attractive; a strong fighter, a capable leader, one who discovered purpose in following Griffith and thus meaning in her life.
As for the new Caska, she's really a sympathetic and tragic figure; When Griffith raped her, he undid all that he had done when he first met Caska- from teaching her to fight for herself and that she was not defenseless, and thus protecting herself from rape, to betraying her and raping her when she was defenseless. No wonder she went mad.

Hopefully, she'll have some brief spells when she returns to something resembling sanity, as when she killed the bandits.

And cut the hair! Caska should only have nice, cute short hair!

Wow what an old thread to get dug up out of the archives..check out that date..May of this year when I first got into Berserk :)

Adding a few new characters I hadn't been aware of at that time....Flora is definitely on my list of favorites along with Caska and Slann... all very different women representing the different aspects of feminity and strength.

King Gaiseric

I walk the path of hell
Slann all the way...she almost fingered herself during the Caska rape and loved Gutts till the very end (in her own way of loving) I'd say the blond thing that was in the pagan orgy too, she reminds me of some modern pornstars...oh yeah Farneze for her sodomatic/sado-masochist ways and her sick disturbed mind

Serpico

Farnese is the bomb diggity
I'm glad to see other people like Farnese, I started to like her very fast and she even became my favorite over Caska, thats something I didnt think could happen. Luca was also a good woman.

I am working on a doujinshi of Farnese hehe.
