Live action Evangelion movie- production art

Kate Rose? The fuck? What an awful name to choose...why didn't they keep her fucking last name Langley? It's a Western name for Christ's sake! Her drawing is ugly but then again, drawings of real people tend to be ugly all the time so that doesn't bother me.

The designs for the Evas and the architechture look pretty freaking leet. Sad this movie will most likely suck like a 10-year old Malaysian prostitute. Your thoughts please?

Rei's named has been changed to Ray I guess that's all right :-\. I really would like to see Shinji played by Haley Joel Osmont his proven he can act and he has played a similar role as that kid from The Six Sense who's had no friends ,depress and afraid to talk to his parent which again is similar to Shinji.

Now who should be the director I say James Cameron or Tim Burton. Cameron would get the action scenes right especially with all those special effects. Burton would get that dark atmosphere going.

im against leaving a live action movie based on a manga or anime in the hands of a Caucasian, things like akira and ninja scroll have both been talked about turned into live action (i think by americans) and the concept already sounds gay.

western people lack the method of creating a japanese fantasy, if they even tried they would be too worried about not appealing to a large enough audience and sell out by turning it into a normal hollywood type that takes out half of what what made the japanese story cool.

they have already started changing names so satisfy the average american, thats gay enough for any fan.

however seeing its evangelion it doesnt really matter to me, i saw both shinji and the plot as boring, annoying and overrated, but im sure other fans will be dissapointed when it comes out.

but if americans are going to tamper with it then it think your right zoddguts, haley joel osmont would be right for the role, who else could possibily be that annoying and bitchy? some one should have grabed that brat shinji long ago and swing a hammer into his temple 3 or 4 times.

what i do personally find interesting about htis movie is they are working with weta workshop, i belive they the team that did lord of the rings special effects.

So? Hollywood wastes money like toilet paper, to appeal to people. I'm sure the movie won't be that bad. Hell, it might even be good.

With the popularity of anime in Western society, American companies are snatching up the rights to alot of titles to be made into live-action movies. A live-action Faggot Ball Z is already in the works (I heard it should be out in 2004, but that was like 2 years ago). A Lupin movie is going to be made, with rumor that Steven Spielberg is directing.

I think as long as anime is popular, there isn't much you can do about it. Those Hollywodd pricks will get their grubby hands on anything they feel can make them the cash. Afterall, with a $100 billion budget, it can't be too bad.

granted, they usually also suck, but there have been a few based on either manga or anime that turned out alright, but i am unaware of one made in the us that turned out ok. have you ever seen the guyver movie? dont get me wrong i like many us movies like the next person, but when they adopt a japanese title things often change beyone recognition.

i could not comment on if the live aciton evangelion will be worthy of the anime because im not a fan, but i bet anything many die hard fans will be left dissappointed. the only way to find out will be to wait and see. maybe your right.

hmph, if you think a high budget on a movie will always guarantee a good movie then you are sadly mistaken, ok maybe i high budget flick like lord of the rings will be really good, (and im sure it wasnt the only one) but that does not mean many turn out to be great.

Generally speaking. Americans put way too much money into entertainment purposes.

In other countries, people are greatful that they have food and clothes on their backs. They don't spend thousands of dollars on video games and other shit.

I was Big Evangelion fan and the idea of a new movie sounds pretty cool but they better not do us fans wrong and fuck it up. if there going to make a american movie of a anime they should try and make it close to the orignal as they can no changing names of characters and citys like they are doing. keep with real names cause with out auska or rei its not evangelion.

I don't think you guys get it. American movie makers aren't going to give two shits about the fans of the anime.

OF COURSE they're going to 'do you fans wrong, fuck it up'. They're not making this movie to please the fans. They believe that they have stumbled upon a new way to reach a mainstream auidience.

They're only interested in pleasing that same audience, since they still see anime as a niche market (and they'd be right). The general public in the US doesn't want to watch a movie about Japanese people in Japan, speaking Japnanese. At least that's what American movie makers think (and it wouldn't surprise me if they were right about that either).

I'm completetly sure the movie will take place in NY city, or some place like that, and that the characters will all be 100% american. Probably much older as well.

Will it suck? Almost definately. Every American-made movie based on anime has. Just because Weta is doing the effects should not give anyone hope that it will be any different.

there is a possibility that they would make it good in a new and original way based on the same concept though changing so much of it, but i personally dont see that happening.
