Mozgus ... huh????

Hello folks,

Can't find any translations for Vol. 20-21 yet that can explain this: what the hell is Lord Mozgus, anyway? What's up with the frozen face, and how does he get the power to transform himself and his sick little crew into the equivalent of Apostles? Did he indeed sell out to the God Hand, under the guise of angels? And what the heck was that tide of black that killed all the people in the Tower?

Thanks!

"This is it. It's over."
what the hell is Lord Mozgus, anyway.

from the FAQ of this site

2.3.3.2 - Mozgus
Mozgus is an eccentric priest who was sent by the 'Holy See' as an inquisitor because Albion priests were being killed one after another. Albion is a large 'torture-temple' as well as a sanctuary. Mozgus is the strongest believer and follower of 'God' in the Berserk universe. So strong a believer in fact, that he bangs his face on the sanctuaries stone floor 1000 times every day for spititual atonement. Mozgus sees a pagan in nearly everyone who is not completely and utterly devoted to God. He makes accusations and spreads the 'love of God' as he tortures and crushes peoples skulls...

And that black tide? Was it just there, sent by God Hand to kill everyone and regenerate Griffith?

Does anyone yet have a reason why Griffith is reborn, and why the God Hand would back this?

The tide was just a huge amount of specters. It was here because of a number of factors, like Guts' and Casca's presence (they're _both_ branded) and the number of atrocious deaths that occured in that place...
And of course, it was all part of the Causality... ^^

Actually, we don't really know if the other God Hands backed this... We haven't seen them for quite some time, and we don't know exactly how it was decided that Femto would be incarnated...

Well we dont have any dialogue confirming the "choice" to have Femto be reincarnated, but we DO have some follow-through logic involved here. Void says to Griffith before Griff's sacrifice that this is the only path to achieve your dream. By taking the step to God Hands ranks, Griffith was essentially buying his "dream".

Therefore, I guess we can assume that these demon lords are demon lords of their word, as Griffith was reborn, and placed into the perfect position to rule an empire, or at least, he will be in a few weeks or so =).

Also, we cant forget the catalyst of all this, the Beherit-Apostle, who sacrificed the world around him to change the world to a better place. Even skull knight said that perhaps it was a good thing that he let the Beherit-Apostle live.

If so, then doesn't that kind of imply that Griffith WILL make the world a better place?

Not while he's in it ...

At any rate, Zodd and the other Apostles wouldn't follow Griffith if the God Hand didn't have anything to do with it. Zodd's pretty independent (well, somewhat) but there's no reason for lots of other Apostles to join in the fight unless they still see Griffith as either a God Hand or embodying their will. After all, Femto no longer exists ... thus Griffith would either have to be imbued with the God Hand's power or at least appear that way to the Apostles.

Well, from what I can tell, Griffith is still as " evil " as he was when he was in the God Hand (Guts 's and Caska 's brand still go crazy around him), plus, from what we have seen of his powers (being able to dodge all those arrows in vol 22), he seems like he could be quite strong, so maybe that 's why all of the apostles follow him. I donno, just rambling I guess.

The only said reason the Apostles follow Griffith is that they were visited by an oracle (The Hawk of Light), probably in a fashion similar to Zodd’s encounter.
