In my defense:
I never said I agreed with the actual bands I mentions. I said I agreed with the recomendations on the basis of my personal bias.

Obviously, you have not listened to Nine Inch Nails if you label them as "angst filled". And if you have, you must have limited yourself to songs like 'Gave Up', 'Starfuckers Inc.', and 'Happiness in Slavery'. Trent Reznor is a very big fan of melody.

And I've just never been big on metallica. I don't know what more to say to than that. What would happen if someone said an N'Sync song reminded them of a character from Berserk? (I am going to assume you do not like N'Sync for this). Chances are you would not like the idea of associating N'Sync with Berserk because you like Berserk and hate N'Sync. Same kind of thing.

Yeah well I don't go that deep into hardcore because in my opinion they take it too far and it sounds horribly satanic. The best example I can throw at you is Cradle of Filth. YUCK

I'm talking more along the line of commercial nu-metal bands. I think Trent Reznor is a egomaniac and a jack ass but his music doesn't really bug me, I just don't listen to it.

Hardcore is a heavier version of punk music, I assume you are talking about Death/Black metal right?

Cradle of Filth sucks, they are pretty much a commercial band like the others, bunch of limp wristed losers, especially Dani Filth.

I listen to a lot of extreme metal, but it's not for the lyrics, since most of em' as you said are pretty dumb, but not all of the bands take them that seriously. Besides that satanic shit is for the same pissed off teenage group, looking for an "extreme" ideology to make them look tough. I was in that boat once when I was younger, but I mean once you realize how stupid it is and know better ya gotta point it out right?

80's metal like Maiden, Priest, Savatage, Metal Church, Mercyful Fate etc. has a lot better lyrics than most so called satanic bands. Hell I'll take Faith no More lyrically over most bands, lol.

I guess it's just that I see Berserk as not just being angry, but a lot darker and twisted, so when coming up with a theme using stuff that just tries to sound pissed off doesn't really fit the bill.

I mean using St. Anger for Gutts? WTF?

Not that I know of. Here are the most recent bands I listen to: Taproot, Weezer, Iced Earth, Slipknot, Glassjaw, COB, Opeth, Murderdolls, Mudvayne, From Autumn To Ashes, Hopesfall, Electrasy, Melisma, Throwdown, The Haunted, Hatebreed, Greenday, Static-X, Seether, Nirvana, Lit, Deftones, Cake, Metallica, Soundgarden, Audioslave, Coal Chamber, and a little bit of Jimi Hendrix. There are many more but I can't think of them now.

Maybe initially, but hell at least lookup the lyrics, man. There are some obvious and clever parallels to Berserk that we've observed in these songs. If N'Sync happened to have a song that gave another perspective on a topic Berserk deals with, I wouldn't trounce it.

I'm not denying the parallels, because, they are quite good.

Perhaps you can enlighten me as to what you mean by "angst filled". To me, bands such as Atreyu or Marilyn Manson deserve this label.

Even some of the instrumental's would fit well. Hell even the very beginning part of Under a glass moon fits in any scene where a battle is about to take place. It's got that really epic feel to it, really powerful.

Some songs of Rammstein have a magical attraction to me, like Klavier, it can't be helped. That's one of the very few I like because of it's lyrics. As for the other songs...well, I like the simple but pushing style of Rammstein. ;D
