Place your bets.  Who's gonna win?

I'm betting on Mason over Rocky.  Mainly because the simulation showed Rocky win, so of course it's not gonna turn out that way.  Plus, Stallone said that it's not about winning, it's about proving to yourself that you can still do it (or something to that effect).  So, Mason for the win (even though I'd rather see Rocky win).
I agree. I don't think they could end the series on such a predictable note as Rocky actually winning. There's creative license and then there's complete unrealistic Hollywood mumbo jumbo. :puck:

That makes three; Rocky's won enough already and that's not what this is about, and Apollo already died in the ring, so right now I'm betting on Rocky going the distance, losing the decision, and finding personal contentment, creating the perfect circle with the original.

Meanwhile, everyone can be as amazed as they always are when Rocky fights, "How's he doing this!?" =)

haha. "Can you DO it?"

Looks good. But I sencerely hope that 90% of the movie isn't "He's TOO old!" followed by 5% of training montage and 5% of "Can he DO it?? Who knows!?"

While I can't offer any evidence other than a hunch, I don't think they'll stick to the old Rocky formula. Then again, that's what made the movies so great, and why 5 sucked :???:

The Hero has returned.

As ashamed as I am to admit it, I kinda want to see this movie now.

But yeah, the movie of course will be totally about him battling against all odds once again, but of course this time due to his age. Stallone surely assumed the potential audience would be thinking the same thing with bringing Rocky back to life, so he naturally made the movie concept one we all can relate to but from a different angle.

Actually now that I think about it, it's a pretty clever idea. ;D

Saw that trailer dealy when I went to see Casino Royale this evening. Im pretty jazzed for the movie, actually. Even if its more of the same, it just seems like it will be good.

Early Rocky reviews have been positive. From people that hated V and even the other sequels saying this one comes full circle.
"We've all experienced this during the coming attractions: Hollywood puts forth a dramatic, inspiring pitch for an upcoming production -- and everybody laughs.

That's happened with the trailer for "Rocky Balboa," the sixth installment in the franchise after a 16-year absence. And the film has been battered with derision and peppered with punch lines even before it hits theaters Wednesday."

"on YouTube, the trailer has been viewed by more than 1.7 million people and received a rating of four stars out of five. Such a reaction hints at high anticipation for "Rocky Balboa" -- even if a good helping of the comments posted on the Web site demean it. ("Rocky Balboa's next opponent ... erectile dysfunction and memory loss.")"

I consider myself one of those cynical movie watchers that would eagerly poke fun of a movie if it crossed the line in a cheesy trailer ... but the Rocky Balboa one just wasn't cheesy. In fact, it was pretty damned good as far as trailers go. What the hell is CNN babbling about, you may ask?

They based the trailer's critique on fucking YOU TUBE posts... What's modern journalism coming to?

Next year they'll cite Wikipedia as a factual source and use blogs to cut down costs on reporters.

"It sounds like something somebody said as a joke at a pitch meeting and people wrote it down," said Mark Lisanti, editor of the L.A. gossip blog Defamer.com. The site has repeatedly poked fun at the new "Rocky" film -- as have a number of late night talk show hosts and comedians.

"It's hard for it not to look desperate," Lisanti added.

Well said by someone whose career choice optimizes desperation.

I'm just waiting for our posts to start showing up in these articles, I mean are these guys for real? I suppose by comparison Rocky IV was a film to be taken seriously; afterall, he ended the Cold War in that one! =)

Not many movie characters are as synonymous with a city as Rocky and Philadelphia.

"I try to describe it to my other actor buddies, they don't understand," Stallone said. "Rocky's a real person to a lot of these people. It's like a metaphor for their lives. Every one of them feels as though they have ownership."

Even though Rocky seems a more likely contender for Social Security than another shot at the title, Stallone believes this film sends the gritty Philly fighter out like a true champion.
This guy can't fucking win. He has a great, career-defining quote like that and CNN takes a below-the-belt potshot at the age "joke" again. Why do I keep reading these articles? I can't fucking stand their cynical, tongue-in-cheek, asshole cheap shots.

I don't personally doubt that this one will live up to it's earlier movies, that was never really the issue to me. Then again I found the originals were ok. What is interesting and ironic though, is how disappointing the fight scenes are in the previous movies. Because it's a movie about, well, fighting and such, you'd think they would've put more effort into the big climax of the movies with Rocky fighting against all odds to be victorious, but that wasn't the case.

I mean just look at this.

Rocky movies are all about the training montage.

Far-fetched.

This is everything I hoped for, they couldn't get it better imho.. Well maybe they could but they could also fuck it up real easilly so I'm glad they didn't.

I rate it: 4/5
