I think what's best is Madden 360 has improved graphics, yet, for some reason, they subtracted gameplay features already in the '06 version of the game that's been out for every other system for months. Are they actively trying to highlight the fact that the games have nice graphics and no gameplay as a major selling point? Or are they just trying to make my point for me? =)

Uh oh!

Hehe. Another reason I never buy at launch. Enjoy the multi-grand crashbox 360
Wonder how widespread this is...

Bah, I got my PS2 at launch and it worked fine for years.  (I did however eventualy die)

The lesson here is never buy Microsoft products at launch.

This is becoming insane... People paying so damn much for something that is going to go down like 100 in price in 6-12 months...

Not only that, but systems are sometimes faulty on their launch. It would be a shame to go through all that trouble and money, just to get a system with a defective CD drive. Of course, the 360 may not have any problems at all, but so many systems in the past have, so I'm not going to take any chances.

I played the demo at Best Buy though. Looks like a hyped up PC.. Although the frame-rate was getting a little skippy in King Kong at times. Geuss I'll wait and see how other games play...

Sometimes it's the other way around here the better systems are first, then the quality drops as they're being produced. Who knows how it'll go, but paying 1000 for a system... I could never do that, I know in time the price will drop, and I know someone else is going to get it in the mean time, so I could always just use their system.

I'm sure the 360 is great and all, but the main thing you always gotta watch out for is what games will they actually have. If you dont even like their games, why even get it?

Anyways does anyone know anything about how the PS3 and the 360 compare to one another?

Some people would rather have the Xbox over the PS2/3 - From the specs that I know, the Xbox is more powerful than the ps3 plans to be, so the more "hardcore" gamer will tend to go towards the 360. I'm not sure if the specs were true or not, which is why I was wondering :p

You cant look at all the games, but you have to look at the trademark games. Games like Halo, Final Fantasy, Mario, those kind of games to see which system you want :troll:

Is it true that the Nintendo Revolutions will allow people to download their past games spanning from the beginning Nintendo Entertainment System?

Yes, although not a lot is known about this function. It might not be free for example.

Yeah, I've heard that they might charge and the charge would be dependent on the game.

So in this generation of consoles, all seem to be wireless in one way or another, or at least offer it in their default setup. Do we know about which one is actually the better system in power, graphics, and sound?

From speculation what do we know then?

Go read video game sites if you want that kind of speculation. Sony's saying their console is going to be super powerful, Microsoft says theirs is already super powerful, and Nintendo doesn't care and didn't say anything (which is no doubt part of some weird strategy).

Anyway, apparently Microsoft is losing $126 per Xbox 360 sold (according to gamespot.com). It was $125 per Xbox in 2001, I wonder if their plan not to lose billions this time will work.

My guess is that that money often gets earned back through Xbox live. I really don't know about this, but isn't it true that game developers pay some premium to market games for a console? Since the Xbox has been released before all the other 'next gen' consoles, they should, assuming they don't trip up like they are now, make a killing on the liscencing fees for its games.

Well, the money wasn't earned back with the Xbox, that's why Microsoft lost 4 billion dollars.

Developers pay royalties on each copy sold yes, that's actually how console manufacturers make money. Selling consoles themselves is nothing, it's all about the games. I don't think the fees will be higher on the Xbox 360 though, that would only cause people to wait to release their games, and that wouldn't be a good thing. It's in Microsoft's interest to have third party developers make a lot of games for the X360 before any other system becomes available.

Typical Wal-Mart, treating their customers like livestock (not that they aren't right most of the time). I think my favorite is the giant DVD bin, or trough, that they have for people to dig through. They should just dump everything on the floor so we could all wallow in it.

"...systems were crashing during game play, sometimes with error messages popping up."

Error messages? On a console? Thanks Microsoft!

"On www.xbox-scene.com, a site dedicated to Xbox gaming, a member called "jsgongwon" reported that he could not finish the first lap of "Project Gotham Racing 3."

In Microsoft's defense, this guy probably just sucks at video games. :troll:

"It's what you would expect with a consumer electronics instrument of this complexity .... par for the course."

I'm sorry but no, you shouldn't expect $400 systems to crash like that.

Well the PS3's finalized specs arent yet but many of its parts are supposedly to be beastly powerful, but its still unknown how long developers will take to really start taking advantadge of 7 different cores.

There's even less known about the revolution, but at least its next gen in concept. Hopefully games play as awesome as most think they can.

Nah, they just don't distribute enough of them and sell the rest on ebay. Easy money...

I love to swim in that thing! I spend at least 3 hours in there everytime I go to my local Wal-mart. I have a friend who has a friend who's cousin found a new release in there for 9.99!!!! Super low price!

After reading this, I just picture Bill Gates swimming in a pool full of money similar to Scrooge Mcduck.

To think I'd have been joining the poor souls wanting to get this system at launch for Oblivion (which got pushed back to march anyway, bah.) I'll just wait till the system hopefully drops in price and is easily obtainable.

waqas

Oh, nevermind...
I doubt anyone cares about the opinions/plans of a 24 year old britsh guy who doesn't really play video games but I thought I'd give my 2 cents on the whole console wars thingy.

My plan is to ignore the Xbox 360 for now and wait until the new year for the PS3 to some out. At which point I will proceed to buy myself a PS2 (At rock bottom prices!!!!) along with a copy of Shadow of the Colossus (I was sold by Walters' earlier thread on the game :p).

I'll spend a few days on the game and once i've completed it I'll probably chuck the PS2 to one side and never play it again.

And so continuing the circle of life....

Pretty poor way to spend your money. Only buy a PS2 for one game? The PS2 is still a solid piece with great games still, so why not get more games. Same with the Xbox.
