The question on my mind is how in the hell do Guts and Judeau throw knives straight through the air without them rotating? That shit has to rotate, man, ROTATE.

The knives Guts uses are special, they're actually more like "battle darts" than traditional throwing knives, that's why they don't rotate (given their shape, the center of gravity would make it relatively ineffective). Although rare, you can find throwing knives designed like this in the real world too (historically, and even nowadays for recreational purposes), they just sport a "tail"/shaft to stabilize better.
Judo actually used a different kind of knives originally, and I believe these were "classic" throwing knives that rotated. He switched to the ones Guts came to use later on in the story.

Yeah, Az is correct. The knives are also better that way, they are aerodynamic, so they hold more force on impact.
Ok, guess that settles it. I didn't even know there existed knives with the little fins and all. Kinda neat I guess. Now I want some.
