Well, the episode was kind of anti-climactic. I don't mind the lack of action that we've gotten used to over the past few episodes, not in the least bit, but it felt like prick-tease plot development episode.

The scar that was left on Ganishka's head is interesting. Could this be a way to ruin his physical form? I was kind of surprised not to see Guts and co get aboard the ship.. but we can safely assume they did. One more episode of them trying to get on a ship really isn't necessary.

And holy hell, the Imperial Carriage or whatever the hell Ganishka's fatass is riding in was amazing to look at. I wouldn't be surprised if that's what took Miura a month! Also, the Kushan forces are bloody enormous!!  They sure as heck didn't take their time. I am really looking forward to Griffiths army swooping through for the win :griff:

Thanks, Saiya again for the episode.

I thought the final page of ep 278 provided plenty of closure to that whole escapade.

At this point, I'm more looking forward to a bloody battle, rather than an easy victory.  With all this build up and Ganishka's renewed determination, this could shape up to be an EARTH SHATTERING conflict.

His breaks are usually to work on the plot, but this time it's different. And Griffith isn't just a "replacement" for Gaiseric, you know.

Humm, you are right itīs not just a replacement, but we all know that Gaisericīs empire was wiped by the Godhand and that all this charade with Ganishka (the poor devil is only a pawn and he hates knowing it) is only to crown Griffith as emperor (i donīt think he will stop at king of Midland)

I can definitely imagine Miura taking some extra time to get the detail ironed out in the upcoming episode.  The Kushan army and Ganishka's huge carriage are gorgeous.

And those elephant are huge.  They're about Makara size

Interesting indeed. Shows once more that astral wounds aren't to be taken lightly. I don't think he could be killed that way, but that big scar is the proof that his defeat had some consequences (albeit minor ones, apparently). I wonder if he's ready to fight on his own again or if he'll let the armies do their job for now. It's also interesting to note that he seems to be the one commanding all the armies.

Also, the Kushan forces are bloody enormous!!  They sure as heck didn't take their time. I am really looking forward to Griffiths army swooping through for the win :griff:

Yep, there's really a lot of them. I wonder how Griffith will pull that one off. Like Wally said, it's shaping to be a huge clash, making that battle even more decisive than I already thought it would be.

we all know that Gaisericīs empire was wiped by the Godhand

Actually, we don't know for sure who destroyed the capital of his empire. You can read more about it by searching for older threads on the subject.

I didn't really expect to see Ganishka physically appear at Vrittannis, or at least not move in with the army.  The sea invasion wasn't shit compared to the land army, goddamn.

I wonder if this battle is going to be the end all between Griffith and Ganishka?  They're both present, and even though we haven't seen the major body of the BOTH we can assume they are in the vicinity, or Griffith wouldn't have shown his face in Vrittanis.

Thanks for the episode, Saiya!
Good stuff, indeed! The Kushan army was very intimidating, I would have pissed myself! A little Silat and Tapasa action never hurts, and the artwork on Ganishka's carriage and escorts were beautiful!

Ill keep my posting short and sweet.

Dam Miura knows detail and holy crap the kushan army is HUGE!!!
but then again i see human s there as the main contingent and we all know how they fare against apostles, unless Ganishka has a few more aces. This definitely could be the final battle before the end of the arc and i think ill span many EPISODES which makes me sad cuz i wont see Guts and crew for a while (since this might be the pov from Griffith's side). But Miura. you have never disappointed me with an EPISODE. take as many breaks as you need as long as you hammer out a great story!!!!!!!! You have my faith :guts:

Looks like we're going to get a good old fashion clash (slaughter) of normal hurmans!  (For at least one episode)  Griffith will probably then show up and rally the troops and of course push them back to take hold of the city.  Silat is still a normal human so I'm curious how he's going to react after seeing the pure destructive power of apostles (assuming we get some transformations this battle).

We'll also get to find out if that Owen dude is really of any use in battle at all.  We've only seen him talking about how sexy Griffith was back in the 100 year war and then before/after the ball, right?

I'm pretty sure Owen's purpose isnt really for the battle but for more of a politcal ally for Griffith, himself and Rabon(sp?) were some of the very few nobles back in the day that fully supported him.

If Griffith does come save the day (we all know he will) then it will do Griffith good for his credibility.

First of, thanks to Saiya for the episode

Second, I do think Owen "purpose" here will be to help convince the people of Vritannis to ally with Griffith and the Neo Hawks when the time has come.  Griffith must still be around since he was there when Guts was going on the ship...

Third and last, I have got to say that Miura's work keeps on amazing me everytime.  It's crazy how the art and details in Berserk are getting better and better after each and every Volumes...  And if it does require him more time to provide us with this, then I cannot say anything against it... :miura:

Anyone thinks that maybe Silat will try to break free from Ganishka's "control" soon?  Or do you think he's happy with his situation right now...?  :carcus:

I don' think Griffiths going to need that.  He's got the Pontiff on his side.  If anything I hope Owen questions Griffith a bit after his strange conversation with Guts.

Thanks Saiya and Aaz for a great episode.

About the Owen, I don't really think he's going to question Griffith too much.  In IMHO I guess that what happened to Mule it can be applied to most humans, with a few exceptions.  I mean Mule is a noble, so he's educated and he saw the apostles eating (in human form, but they almost eat him too).   And he still felt overwhelmed by Griffith.

I think Silat's opinion of Ganishka's reign is pretty well elaborated on in episodes 230-233.  Rakshas exposed Ganishka's demonic side, added to the fact that Silat's working an uphill battle trying to reclaim his clan's dignity. Either one of these are good launch pads for rebellion in the future.

Thanks Saya.

Rabon(sp?)

Raban  :void:

The scene in the end reminded me somewhat of the ambush the Midland army orchestrated on the Hawk Band.  Had me a little emotional.   :judo:

-Edit- Also, the Tapasa conversation had me a little curious.  I wonder if Silat is considering to just sit back and passively watch, if not actively betray Ganishka (with the information he has)?

Wow.  I don't have too many comments other than that was a whole lot of drawing some beautiful pages, a task which would have made me want to cry.  :judo:

I'm looking forward to the big battle.  I wish Miura's schedule wasn't going to be so sporadic, but as long as the man paces himself and stays in good health, I'll be happy.

I hope so as well.

I think it's great how the daka and makara return to their 'natural' forms once they've been killed.

To tell the truth, I'm wondering how this is going to be won by the Hawks and co. with out the apostles revealing their nature...Perhaps Griffith will create some sort of illusion or glamor to make the apostles look more...angelic? Although, there aren't any of Ganishka's demon troops visible, so perhaps that's not necessary after all.

Episode looks great, i can't wait for the trans.
