There's a rumour in the Japanese BBS saying that there will be 25 volumes all together.

Er... We're already in the middle of volume 23 right now, so it's kinda doubtful... ^_^;

So far Miura has not seemed to be in any particular hurry... so why should he end something that abruptly?

I have seen no signs that he would have grown tired of it and wanted to end it... so far.

I always gets the feeling that we're into the third of at least four massive parts.

The first ended with Griffith's transformation to Femto.
The second ended when Griffith was reborn.
The third... what will that entail? Most likely Casca going sane again (I hope), and... I'm going out on a limb here but... Guts going down the same road as Griffith, the beast taking over more and more, in the end either sacrificing, or almost sacrificing the ones closest to him. But... wo knows.

why 25? All I can say is... "biiiig round number..."

why 25?

Maybe they're afraid of that new child porn law?
Sure, that could be a problem, but we've got several of those "moralist hiccups" in Japan, for the last 15 years, so I'd like to think it's just another one...

Huh? Child porn law? In my opinion, if the japanese are concerned that people are having anti-social or disgusting sexual habits because fucked up porn exists ...theyre looking in the wrong areas. Who creates the perverse material? The oppressed. It is the repressed fucko's who havent been allowed to express themselves because of Japan's strict social order. SOCIETY IS TO BLAME!

Enough of my ranting... But I seriously think that it could end at 25, however...That would mean that the elf village is just around the corner.

they still cling to strict traditions, however i hear the newer generations are really becoming relaxed about it.  i'd still say they're more puritanical than the U.S... but then again, who isn't?
...pass them there beef, Bubba....

as i was sayin'...  as for 25 volumes... i can see it happening... it would suck... but it could happen... Miura could take Casca to the witch, find a way to un-do the retardation, which would probably also include Guts killing/stopping Griffith and ending his reign or something.

It would suck... but its possible to end it in 2 more volumes.

We are the Puritans. Maybe it's just because I live in the South, but Berserk wouldn't last a second here. I think the mere fact that I own the volumes is technically illegal, and I am technically a sex-offender for doing so.

I agree. That is awfully hyporitical considering some products of Japanese culture (bukkake or scat anyone?) If some of it must go, all of it must go IMO.

As far as Berserk ending at volume 25, it seems doubtful. There's still way too much to develop with Skull Night, Griffith, Casca, Guts, Idea, God Hand etc. etc. And from what someone said (don't remember who) manga endings usually don't leave many loose ends.

WHAT ????
25 VOLUMES????
If that is true, I will go to Japan to see my national soccer team play, kill Miura, have some sushi, and go home...

I wish morons that spread such rumours just vanish.
I mean, if it's true - spoil the fun for me, thankyouverymuch

If it ain't true, which seems to be the case here, they just stir the fragile nerve balance of the berserk fans.. :)

More likely, it could be the "Seima Senki no Sho" (Chronicle of the Holy Evil War) story arc to end with Volume 25.

'Could be, but how would they know?

Could the first poster provide a link? I think it's nothing more than speculation, but hey... Just to take a look...

I hope that's wrong and only supposition (sorry for replying so late)
I guess also that finishing the story in the 2 1/2 volumes remaining is something quite possible, but how much frustrating for all of us!!  (I started really liking Farnese and I'd like seeing again GodHand soon for "making move Destiny" )

Go go go Miura!!
I don't know if I'd remember it , so Happy X-mas everyone by advance ^^

Hmm..

It's Quite possible. Although I would feel that would be a little rush. I always imagined BERSERK would end Around 29-30 something volumes, Considering the Pacing BERSERK moves in and the time it takes for each of the Major Story Arcs to end. However I could be completely wrong and BERSERK is Really Ending at Book 24!! LOL!!

I'm pretty sure we still have At least 7-8 volumes left tho'

i don t think that miura would end up berserk that instantely cause there is too much work and heart behind to loose patience at now.

I know 30 books doesn't sound like much but at his current pace it be would be 5 to 6 years before we see a volume number at or around 30. It enough time for him to take care of his story. Still that's a long wait. 2007 perhaps?

one book needs about 8 months to get finished. That seems to be long time(and for us it really is)but concerning the work that stands behind it is definetely not.
Quote

It enough time for him to take care of his story.

yeah but nevertheles there are still so many things or characters that Miura has to care about, develop and finish up.
so that he needs on the one hand a lot of time and on the other hand a lot of space too cause although he may see already an end he d like to stay patient and keep working as intense and concentrated as he always did,to keep the level of berserk up or even increase it(if that would be possible)

So it seems that berserk will be really part of our lifes for a long time.
