If he allocated Grunberd, Zodd and a slew of apostles just to take out Flora, I'm inclined to believe he'll be dealing with this community of magic users as well.

I wonder how many times I've said this, but how exactly would he be dealing with them? His apostles are helpless against a competent sorcerer, so against a community, it's suicide. And they'd need to get there first, and to fight Guts, maybe even Skull Knight, and god knows what else.

Plus, if Casca is healed in the course of this, will Guts still want to keep his band together? He has certainly become attached to them of late, but I think that Casca is still his priority

The band and Casca aren't necessarily incompatible. What needs to be addressed is what their personal, individual ambitions are going to be after the end of their journey.

Re: Episode 284 (+ special preview)

The problem may be if Casca is incompatible with Guts's quest..
But this has been said already.
The preview image may be what the Hanafubuku King will show Guts, as in "this is what's going to happen to you", just like Godo said to Guts before he died, that if he lets the hatred drive him he would end up like him. Just speculating.. :schierke:

Re: Episode 284 (+ special preview)

Can someone re-post the preview picture? For some reason I can't see the one posted by Tomo. Danke!

YA's Official Episode 284 Preview

Good stuff. :void:

Re: Episode 284 (+ special preview)

Good stuff, indeed.

SO ANYWAY, with a relevant preview, is it just me or does that particular pose look rather Golden Age-ish? Not the style Griffith is drawn in, obviously, but that pose with the banner in the background. I found it rather stunning, with the elongated, almost detached style of Griffith mixed with the Hawks banner waving (there's a specific pose from earlier volumes I'm thinking of...I'll try and look it up).

Well, uh, he certainly looks heroic in that shot. If the emotion evoked from the picture stirs up something sentimental in you from the Golden Age, I'd say it's not a coincidence in that regard. But I doubt you'll find anything to support that panel specifically being a throwback to another in the Golden Age.

Anyway, this preview at least confirms my initial suspicions that there's still much to cover of Griffith's side of the story before we pan back over to the THREEEE HOUUR TOUUUUUUR, the THREEEE HOUUR TOUUUUUUR.

Yeah, past the "Griffith in front of a banner" aspect I don't see how it's specifically "Golden Age-ish." Also, for info, the title is "Midland's regular army." Regular as in "not mercenaries."

Re: Episode 284 (+ special preview)

Well, that preview is awfully informative, as usual. :guts: Oh well, at least we know now that we're stuck with Griffith for at least one more EPISODE, yay. Not that I am not looking forward to character interaction on boat. I am afraid it will indeed turn into "3 hour tour", sorta like Odyssey.

I hope you're right, though apostles and god hands seem to be pretty arrogant, so who knows with them. To my eyes, it would be pretty dumb of Griff to annoy a bunch of powerful creatures who seem totally content on staying the hell away from him on far away island.

That really wasn't what I meant. I was just making a joke about the group being on a boat, JUST LIKE the theme song to Gilligan's Island. One of Miura's inspirations for Berserk? Hmmm... :???:

Re: Episode 284 (+ special preview)

Sorry if I misunderstood you. :) I got the GI reference, and that's what I expect to see - people set out for "3 hour tour" and end up being stuck on the island for indefinite time. Ditto our characters, their "3 hour tour" gonna last for a looong time. I wonder if they'll be done with all this stuff in 5 volumes. Who knows....

ETA: I can't believe I called the E thing the Ch name. O_O

Well, it's not like they're just supposed to stay for a day to begin with. I doubt any of them currently plans to leave Elfhelm before at least a few weeks (months?).

You mean if the group will be off Skullig by volume 37? I have serious doubts.

Re: Episode 284 (+ special preview)

If Miura dedicates the next four volumes to their stay in the island, it could be done.
I mean, Guts wont be talking that much with the Elf King. Oh, i forgot about the trip :troll:

Doesn't mean that there won't be any other events on the island.

Re: Episode 284 (+ special preview)

There's going to be a republication of Berserk volumes with bigger books in Japan. A5 format, 530 pages for the first volume, around 500 for the second, etc. The release will start on Thursday, May 10 and then one volume will come out on every other thrusday. The first 12 of these volumes should cover the first 27 "standard" volumes. Price isn't known for now.

Of course bonuses will be included: there'll be a mobile phone screen guard themed after Void for volume 1 (limited edition, only included with the first edition of the book), for volume 2 buyers will be able to apply for a golden beherit, and some never shown before illustrations were mentioned to go as posters. We should also have color pages in the first volume (my old dream, an edition with all the original colored pages), for the Black Swordsman and Guardian Angels of Desire (1). "The Brand" isn't listed but let's hope it's getting the same treatment. Lastly, there'll be customized Berserk iPod nanos to win for the first and second volumes, but that's most likely a Japan-only deal.

Miura said that now that he's done drawing all those soldiers he should get back to his normal pace. YA's preview for the next episode: something shows up in front of Griffith.

OR, it could all be a belated April Fools. :carcus:

This is friggin' awesome news. I've always wanted bigger volumes. I don't really like the idea of rebuying all the volumes over again... but the prospect of finally getting the colored pages is great.

Right, in that light it'd make the most sense given the context. I was thinking more about him meeting with Owen or Federico de Vandimion originally.

Re: Episode 284 (+ special preview)

It's really a question of who would have a greater impact on the Holy See army: the "lost" Princess of Midland or the figurehead for the Holy See.

I'm banking on the Pontiff.

No way as far as Midland's armies are concerned, remember their talk at the ball. They're all about the royal family, and right now that's Charlotte. The Pontiff will play a bigger role in regard to the rest of the Holy See Alliance for sure, but this episode is specifically about Midland's armies it seems, so...

In any case, no doubt the old man will show up very soon.

Same here. :guts:

It's been a while since we've seen him and I think now is the perfect time for him to show up (with Mule and Sonia escorting him, of course).

After further consideration, I'm now betting on Charlotte. :beast:

Well, we could see both. Someone's gotta bring Griffith into Midland's fold/ royal family (not this episode, but perhaps soon).
