The second trailer for Pacific Rim came out today.

It's everything I've ever wanted.

Thanks for posting that gif, holy shit. I'm not gonna watch the trailer, straight to the movies for me.

Europa Project ... looks NEAT - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avzqYgtpdMQ

Was lucky enough to catch Upstream Color in Seattle on Tuesday before it left Theaters.

Hauntingly Beautiful. Less confusing than Primer but more emotionally complex.

I forgot to post about it in the Movies Watched thread (maybe tonight) but you're absolutely right. It's not on the same brilliance level of Primer but it's a different genre and is more of a Sci-Fi Drama with focus on a love story. Posted the trailer in December. Nice bump man! The soundtrack is ...

Looks like a by-the-numbers Hollywood adaptation to me. I wouldn't expect great things from this.

Yeah, I was sad when I saw how average it looked.

I've always thought of Ender's Game to be unfilmable. I think this just may confirm that.

I like how they show him
blowing the planet
at the end of the trailer. Way to go. And yeah while visually this looks appealing I'm not enthralled by the prospect of this movie.

This is how I feel about most adaptations, and it certainly came to mind as I watched this trailer ("Is there something incomplete about the experience of reading the book...?")

Visually stunning, it'll be a shame if this isn't a good movie. Plus it's by the same guy who did Children Of Men.

I was going to post this yesterday, but then I realized it was Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. Clooney I can deal with, but not Bullock.

It's a mix for me - last time Clooney was in space, both movie and acting chops were bad (Solaris) but he's delivered in The Descendants, Up In The Air, Clayton, The American, Burn After Reading. Bullock did good in The Blind Side. The Director's solid. Optimism = high.

Neat, I guess? But I'm hoping there's a little more to the movie than what's implied about the premise in the trailer. I enjoyed Children of Men, but boy it really didn't live up to its potential.

I love the book, so I'm going to give the movie a chance. I'm hoping they at least delve into the evolution of Ender and how he solves all of the problems presented before him.

If not, then this movie is going to blow.
I saw this and it made me abit sad. Reminded me of every other Sci Fi space movie which is really disappointing because of how amazing Orson Scott Cards books are.

Hope so too because that's a lot of screen time, unless it's tackled well. So much can go wrong so fast. Beginning act would be them getting to space I assume. I wish I didn't hear the last thing said in the trailer cos it implies Bullock being left alone, somewhere. I think it's a good thing, that sort of doubt I mean, where a 2ish min trailer doesn't give away the entire movie.

From IMDB:

Angelina Jolie was originally cast but dropped out later. Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts, Natalie Portman, Marion Cotillard, Abbie Cornish, Carey Mulligan, Sienna Miller, Scarlett Johansson, Blake Lively, Rebecca Hall and Olivia Wilde were all subsequently tested or approached for the lead role. Finally, Sandra Bullock was cast.
:ganishka:

Could go either way. Mel Gibson was approached to do Burton's Batman, Pacino for Han Solo, Travolta for Gump, Nicholson for Michael Corleone, Selleck for Indiana Jones, Julia Roberts passed on Bullock's role in The Blind Side which landed her that Oscar (the list goes on). Here's what Wiki says about why Jolie or whoever dropped out -

Warner Bros. acquired the project, which in February 2010 attracted the attention of Angelina Jolie, who had rejected a sequel to Wanted.[2] Later in the month, she passed on the project,[3] partially because the studio did not want to pay her $20 million fee,[4] which she had received for her latest two movies, $19 million for the Tourist[5] and over $20 million for Salt,[6] and because she wanted to work on directing her Bosnian war film, In the Land of Blood and Honey.[7] In March, Robert Downey Jr. entered talks to be cast in the male lead role.[8]
In mid-2010, Marion Cotillard tested for the female lead role. By August 2010, Scarlett Johansson and Blake Lively were in the running for the role.[4] In September, Cuarón received approval from Warner Bros. to offer the role without a screen test to Natalie Portman, who was being praised for her recently released film Black Swan.[9] Portman passed on the project due to scheduling conflicts, and Warner Bros. then approached Sandra Bullock for the role.[7] In November 2010, Downey left the project to star in How to Talk to Girls, a project in development with Shawn Levy attached to direct.[10] In the following December, with Bullock signed for the lead role, George Clooney replaced Downey in the role.

The movie's got mixed reviews so far from test screenings, which's good cos it's not all bad at least haha!

So it's Open Water in Space. Pass.

Premise is neat, but the movie looks like it could be pretty boring to me.
