Movies to look forward to

That post is like from the Bizarro world to me: I'm worried about the original cast, but man I can't wait for Disney to water down the property in the most shameless ways. Watching Iron Man trade quips with Han Solo will be like a comic book come to life... in the worst way.

Anyway, I think Abrams value as Star Wars director will be revealed by the performances he gets out of the original cast, knowing enough to let the characters mellow or change with age, and not whether or not he's conscious of an internet meme about himself.

If they don't open their mouth much, this looks like fun. Is Miller trying to outdo Bay in the explosion department?

Based on the tone of the previous films, the attitude of Max, those two trailers, I think it's safe to assume vistas, violence, wrecking and engines noises will do most of the talking.

The first trailer was a nice reveal and relief, not particularly impressive though. But this one does a great job. The editing is amazing. One of the best i saw this year :ubik:

That's a lot of gasoline explosions for guys trying to conserve! They might just consider not driving around so much in general.

Anyway, I liked the first look trailer better, but it still looks entertaining.

Another casualty of the Sony hack, which has been delightful if you've been following it, is the alleged Bond 24 script leaking. It doesn't sound very promising:

MOVIE RUINING SPOILERS: http://defamer.gawker.com/new-bond-script-leaks-execs-scrambling-to-fix-awful-en-1670479885

Anyway, if the details are true it sounds way more like a Quantum of Solace-sized letdown than classic Bond reinvented Skyfall-style, despite the title.

... Saw The Hobbit the Battle of the Five Armies I expected better to say the least. I guess I'll have to wait for the extended edition's release next year to finalize my opinion of The Hobbit Trilogy but as a whole so far as Prequel Trilogies go despite all the issues to be had with the Hobbit films it still beats the pants off of The Star Wars Prequels.

Uuuugh. I'm holding out hope. I loved Skyfall and Casino Royale. I really hope this turns around.

...Well the reason Quantum blew was it was a project rushed out of the gate due to MGM's imploding at the time. And I have no doubt that had MGM not gone through that rough patch at the time Quantum would be what Spectre is shaping up to be.

Gooooood... luck with that one.

Yeah, not a good sign when even the trailer is awkwardly unfunny. I'm still excited though... because I've been waiting for Marvel to bomb and this will either finally be the one or prove again that they're invincible.

...Its a Teaser Trailer folks not a sign of anything really. The "True Game" begins with Official Trailer # 1 - 3 that is when we can gauge what type of film Ant-Man is gonna be. Bottom line don't roll up the camping equipment over a teaser.

Waaaauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut??? :???:

Uh yeah, Official Trailers 1-3, that's where true cinema lies; I think Stanley Kutip said that. Kidding aside, it doesn't look like anything special, and in fact looks potentially very lame (which was already a big danger given it's rather troubled production history). I get giving it the benefit of the doubt because Marvel has a decent track record (though not as great as the box office returns indicate), but I'm tired of everyone being excited about every mediocre event movie that gets pushed at them by Marvel or Legendary or whoever makes all this shit people get excited about being excited about for the sake of being excited. I draw the line at unreasonable enthusiasm about Ant-Man. Have a little healthy skepticism, people! A great trailer does not a great movie make, but a lousy trailer is troubling because usually you can make anything look decent or even exciting by slapping the best lines together into a music video; it means they couldn't even make the material work for a minute or two. I'll tell you what type of film (really?) it looks like: Rudd and Douglas aside, it looks like a lousy modern B-Movie (did you see those bad guys, one looks like a porn villain =).

Ahhh, that felt good. :badbone:

I am excited for this one, i really like Rudd and Marvel has been releasing some good movies lately. In the end it's going to be a fun ride at the cinema, i don't expect to be blown away, but i'm excited to see what they are going to show us (Ant-man's powers can open up some fun possibilities).

I've never been a huge fan of Ant-Man, but I give him and Wasp props for being the original founding members of the Avengers that everyone forgets about (there's probably a reason for that), but that's about as far as my excitement goes. Since this is following the Scott Lang character I have even less vested interest. My guess is Marvel decided they already had too many brilliant-scientist-turned-superhero characters and ditched Hank Pym, which means the Wasp (Janet Van Dyne) will most likely be reduced to a cameo, or hell, maybe she's already dead.

I think this could potentially create problems if Marvel invests heavy story continuity in their lower quality movies. It'll make it harder to ignore the duds and stick with the flagship. Of course, there's already been talks of the prologue to Cap 3: Civil War starting in Agents of SHIELD and who even watches that??

I think Phase 3 is where we start to see the break down of Marvel critical mass.

an anime movie, idk if it counts but here, super hyped for this

I don't even know what that is. The link provides no information. Is it the live action movie? A remake? Still trying to milk a long dead franchise. In any case, no thanks.

American Sniper is looking better and better. I've read Chris Kyle's book and so far it looks like Bradley Coopers on his way to nailing this role. Can't wait to see it.
