Trailer for Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation - Fate

Ghost Protocol blew me away and reignited the love I had for the series when I was knee high to a grasshopper. If this one is even half as good then I'll definitely have to go see it.

Didn't use a stuntman for the last scene in the trailer.

They really shouldn't bother with titles for these sequels. Should just be like Madden games or car models: MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 2015.
Haha, that's a pretty good idea actually.

Same here. The reason I went to see GP was because they were showing 8 mins of The Dark Knight Rises prior to the screening of GP, only if you watched it on IMAX. So there I was to see the clip and it was the plane sequence with Bane. Cool. GP starts and man, what a ride! The 2nd movie in the franchise has been the weakest to me.

Monica Bellucci :farnese: ??! Pretty serious tone/ mood in the trailer, I like that and that it ties into the last Bond film. Def gonna hit this up.

How would you rank the 3 Bond movies with Craig?

How would you rank them incantation? These are the only bond films I've enjoyed. Think it ties to my dad liking bond and me being all no way, my dad likes those. Anyhow, Skyfall was my favorite. Casino Royale was second and quantum was my least favorite. Haven't seen them in a bit, but that's what the gray matter tells me.

I will definitely be watching this new one. :femto:

Casino Royale first, Skyfall a close second, and Quantum a distant last.

In honor of your dad, I'll go a step further with my reply and give my top 10 essential Bonds featuring every (official) Bond:

Dr. No: The first and still one of the best. The ground was laid early for both serious spy stories and evil doctors.
From Russia With Love: The quintessential pure Bond spy tale.
Goldfinger: From it's namesake to Oddjob and Pussy Galore, this is thee classic Bond movie.
On Her Majesty's Secret Service: Roland Lazenby's cup of coffee with Bond is good, would've been great with Connery.
The Spy Who Loved Me: Ultimate Roger Moore Bond movie, for better and worse. His car is a submarine.
For your Eyes Only: After tossing Blofeld in a smoke stack, old Moore plays it straight in a more low key spy story.*
The Living Daylights: Timothy Dalton actually studied the books for preparation. Decent Bond.
GoldenEye: Pierce Brosnan's promising start was ultimately his best and most iconic (N64!) showing.
Casino Royale: Craig's rookie outing was just about a perfect rebirth, seamlessly fusing old and new, Flemming and film.
Skyfall: A fun meditation on the above, and Craig owning Bond on screen in a way not seen since Connery.

Honorable, or honourable, mentions to Thuderball, the last grand Connery outing with a unique legal history to the franchise (it's the reason we havent seen Spectre again until now, and *it should probably bump For Your Eyes Only off the list above), and You Only Live Twice, which isn't very good, but is full of Bond lore including Donald Pleasence's iconic, Dr. Evil inspiring turn as Blofeld (actually, this whole movie is Austin Powers fuel).

You can basically get the gist of the whole franchise in five films though: Russia, Majesty, Eyes, Daylights, GoldenEye and Skyfall give you a flavor of each Bond and actually create a sort of narrative arc. Switch in Goldfinger, Spy, and Licence with their respective Bond and you have the most iconic film/portrayal representative of each actor. I'd just assume watch the first five Connery movies though. Most Bond movies, even the classics, with Connery's presence being the exception, are boring or not very good until Craig's modern run, and even that's just representative of the times; these movies are like time capsules of the action movies of their era. For example, Licence to Kill is basically just an 80's revenge movie with little intrinsically to do with Bond. Maybe Liam Neeson will be the next James Bond (though I like the Idris Elba idea; don't worry about Bond's Scottish heritage, for what that's worth Flemming only added it after Connery's iconic screen portrayal).

I dig it. Do we not know who is playing Blofeld yet...? That's kind of refreshing.

Whatever his character's cover name is, I'm assuming it's ultimately Waltz unless they're being too clever for their own good. I don't want some Into Darkness-esque, "He's John Harrison" bullshit, or even worse if they have him essentially be Blofeld but don't actually call him Blofeld. Unless it's supposed to be an origin story for him to set up his becoming the iconic Blofeld later. Still, I would imagine they'd like to stay away from anything that looks too much like this:

For comparison's sake, at times Dr. Evil looks no more silly than his official counterparts:

Blofelds.jpg

Which is a shame, because Waltz wouldn't look half bad made up for the part:

Considering his history and the glimpse we got in the trailer, I expect him to be much more the sinister charmer.

I signed in to post just that, you beat me Nighty!

Yes, it looks crazier than I initially thought. Definitely watching it. IMAX if possible for those crazy lightning tornadoes!

Wow, they were actually holding back in those earlier trailers; this looks like Road Warrior crossed with Thunderdome on steroids and speed. I just hope the plot is at least serviceable so it's not all sound and FURY. :carcus:

Yeah, my reaction was "I should not be excited, but I am."

Welcome home, Chewie!
:ganishka: :ubik:

Eh, why not? Yeah, Ford Solo's lookin' pretty decrepit and un-Han-like, but that by itself gets a nostalgia pass and it otherwise looks like a professional movie production, rather than a rejected blue screen video shoot from Wing Commander III*, which already puts it ahead of the prequels in every way! Remember, that's the bar, rehabilitation, not rebirth.

*No offense to Wing Commander III, which is also way better than the Star Wars prequels and holds a pretty special place in a unique part of video game history (Live Action Interactive Movies, the future past of gaming!).

All praise Grail
I told myself I wouldn't ever get excited for another Star Wars movie, ever. But damn, this trailer worked on my nostalgia. It is jarring seeing Han so old though (and he's most likely in the best shape for the character out of all returning cast).

Don't sleep on bearded Hamil looking the best of the bunch despite how roughly he's aged. Old Jedi Luke actually has a look/style to aspire to, whereas old Han Solo just looks like old Harrison Ford (he's actually not much different than the photoshops people have done of their old heads on their character's bodies). Couldn't the makeup people have died his hair darker or something? Not try to make him look young, just different. Anyway, if those were Carrie Fisher's body/arm/hands my expectations have already been blown away, because... :magni: Whew, c'mon movie magic!
