The first full trailer and official title for J.J. Abrams' infamously vague movie will be shown in front of Beowulf, which will be released Nov. 16. The site above has apparently leaked details about the trailer, including the unconfirmed "official" title: ..... *drumrolllllllll*...... it's CLOVERFIELD! :ganishka:

Other details revealed in this preview are that it is indeed a monster movie on the level of Godzilla and
Shadows of a screaming woman being attacked by a small monster (possibly two - either she's being pulled away from the monster by someone behind her or there's another monster behind her). It's confirmed: the movie has a big beast and small ones. Like the American Godzilla.

Uhh, great? As predicted, my excitement over this movie wanes with each new detail. I'm such a slut for hype.

Saw the trailer for this at Beowulf (which was a good movie, though it would have been nice if it stayed closer to the original tale). Cloverfield is either going to be a hit or miss movie. I personally couldn't say if it's going to be crap or not based on the trailer. Though the movies Jumper, and Tim Bruton's Sweeney Todd movie (with Johnny Depp) looks like they'll be enjoyable.

Yea I like the idea of making it look like it's all really happening with Blair witch project camera style. No, music, shaky camera, bad acting. But the preview wasn't impressive, I actually lost my excitement for this movie.

IGN's interview and feature on Cloverfield, with a link to watch 5 minutes of the film.

Looks like garbage. Admittedly, I'm at work and can only watch it with sound off. Can anyone be a good neighbor and confirm my initial suspicions?

I think it's an improvment to not hear anything. When i saw this the first time I wasn't really excited just even more disappointed.

The movie was better off being a preview before transformers.

I want to like it, I really do. But I'm having trouble getting into the whole hand-held camera documentary style it's in. The acting is kinda overdramatic or something. "Is this another terrorist attack?" lol I had to chuckle at that, isjust corny.

kinda resurrecting a dead post here but the release date is in 3 days si?

Somebody brought it to my attention in December and I had no idea what the hell it was, but they showed me a concept (or theoretical?) image of the monster.

complete with sinspawn and everything (the smaller monsters). I wish I was lying, but I almost fell out of my chair with the thoughy of J.J Abrams playing FFX and going "...what if we let Sin loose...INTO NEW YORK."

however, this is probably the actual monster (The whole "DASHES THROUGH BUILDINGS" thing kinda took out the sin concept imo)

I like the Sin knock-off better. I personally think the "giant unknown monster terrorizing modern city with no way of stopping it" has such fucking potential. However its usually ruined by disappointing special effects or "heroes save the day" thing. Ok I'll get to the point, I want a genuine terrifying gut wrenching Cthulhu movie.

This was always just a fan-made concept art, based on nothing in particular, and created after the very first teaser was released. No doubt the person who made it inspired themselves from FFX, voluntarily or not.

I don't know, sounds like they're all grasping at straws to me. It's a concept found on the artist's website, and if they've gone through all that trouble to keep it secret, it'd be pretty stupid of him to do that. Anyway, I'm pretty sure this was debunked a while ago already.

Honestly I doubt it'll be anything like that Sin monster, that'd be a pretty crazy coincidence. As for Cthulhu, it's been firmly denied several times, they don't have the rights, and apparently an actual Cthulhu movie by another studio is in the works (early stage of course).

Anyway, here's more concept art, and from people who've seen the film this time, so consider it as a spoiler: http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/news/cloverfield-update-fans-draw-the-cloverfield-monster.php

Hey, I saw Cloverfield last night and I must say it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. It was actually very exciting. I felt like when I was a kid on the jaws ride in universal studies for the first time. You get this sense that your in for a real ride. There were a few parts that made me roll my eyes mainly because everything felt so realistic at one moment and then some cheesy Hollywood stunt would happen. But not bad overall. I don't think it's a spoiler to say the creatures are not explained. Not at all. There are some hints at where it came from (the government created it, came from the mid ocean ridge) but no real explanation, which I was more than happy to go on withought. It is unique and exciting so I would say check it out!

I got so motion sick during the movie it was almost unwatchable for me. I had to leave the theater at one point and get some fresh air before going back in. It felt like getting sick on a ride in an amusement park, only this ride cost more. I enjoyed the movie itself and thought it was a refreshing take on the "giant monster attacks city" genre.

Kiss My Cons
Just got back from the theater...this movie fucking rocked the party. Motion Sickness: a bit.

No spoilers. The creature looks so HP Lovecraft it's a bit ridiculous. Reminded me of Cthulhu and Dagon even though they're not claiming 'em. The way they teased the audience w/ glimpses of the monster throughout...but then rewarded us by actually delivering by the end...without blowing their load (unlike that typical Hollywood Godzilla a few yrs back...or unlike that hand-held purgatorial ode to masturbation Blair Witch, which remains unseen to this day)...fucking brilliant. Timing is everything.
Highly recommended.

"Bring the light of day"
Yeah I have to say I was entertained. With a good teaser, still my expectations were zero, I enjoyed every second of it. Heh, my wife had to stop watching the movie almost half way from that motion sickness... God bless voyeur porn!

I can't believe all this motion sickness. What parts exactly made anyone feel that way? Me and my friends (all eight of us) didn't feel the motion was nauseating at all.

Haha, nearly every time they were running or looking back and forth. When they got into the hall with the pulsing emergency light I seriously thought I was gonna lose it. :SK:

You guys get sick when you play FPS-type games too? I knew a few people like that back in the day. :void:

Oddly enough, I don't. Probably because I'm playing on a smaller screen rather than one that takes up most of my view.

Succumb to the will of the beast
I feel bad for all the people getting motion sickness, thank god I didn't, I've never had any trouble with that type of stuff.

The movie itself was good for a "big monster smashes city" movie. I could've done without some of the character interaction at the beginning, but I suppose without it we wouldn't have known why the rest of the story was happening.
