Whether U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Taylor, who prosecutes federal and local laws in the District of Columbia, will bring charges against Spitzer likely depends on the plea deal the governor is negotiating with the government in New York, two senior law enforcement officials said.

In a statement issued after Spitzer's resignation, U.S. Attorney Michael Garcia said there was no deal with the fallen governor: "There is no agreement between this office and Governor Eliot Spitzer, relating to his resignation or any other matter."

Nothing brings a greater smile to my face then to imagine this guy being put behind bars. This isn't your typical asshole that the republicans are going after this is the guy that built his career going after people with false charges or suing them until bankruptcy to build his career.

So lets hope that the people he's fucked over bring him down further. :ganishka:

Maybe I missed something here, but didn't he just sleep with a prostitute? I mean, what public official in Washington HASN'T slept with a prostitute on a lonely night in D.C.? I fail to see why this guy's such a large exception besides the fact that he's a huge hypocrite. From what I know, he used his own money (admittedly a taxpayer funded salary) to pay for the prostitute. But that money would have otherwise been spent on BMW payments. It's not like he laundered money AWAY from taxpayers to pay for her. Now that'd be worth noting.

This is all terribly reminicent of Clinton, who actually had relations with an employee of his. That's a bigger deal than this, and today we laugh at it and ourselves for blowing it up.

This happens all the time though. Federal agents in charge of investigating child pornography have been arrested many times in the past decade for the same filth they're charged with protecting the country against. It's really nothing new...

It's not the fact he slept with a hooker it's the fact he's built his career throwing people into prison for this very same thing. Your average official in DC might fuck a hooker here and there, but for the most part didn't build a career on other people not being able to control their hooker fucking urges.

I'm pretty sure he also brought a prostitute across state lines, making it a federal offense. He could get up to 10 years behind bars.
