I went and saw cheap trick, Heart and Journey tonight. Not that I really care for those bands but my friend had a free ticket so I thought why not. I had a great time too. The bands sucked though, I just can't stand that music. I did meet lots a cool people. I smoked a few joints and drank two cups of beer for free and then made out with some hot 18 year old chick for a half hour. She took off and didn't come back, which sucked. But overall not a bad night ecspecially because I don't go out much. But yea about the music...don't go see those guys unless you like that stuff, in which case go. I've decided to go to more concerts now.

New Metallica single was on the radio this morning. Kind of what I expected, the jury is still out for me, there's elements I like, some I'm not so sure of, I'd get more specific but listen for yourselves.

Yeah, but listen to what they were doing 5 years ago. :carcus:

And hey, if it doesn't work out, there's always the new Heathen later this year! :guts:

Finally got my ears near the Citizen Fish/LoC split. yummy :)

Next, the up-coming Dragonforce and Pendellum albums!

I've downloaded a number of albums recently, but these two remain the standouts; i just CANNOT stop listening to them:

DrDogFate.jpg

I first heard Dr. Dog sometime last year, with their previous album (also excellent) entitled We All Belong. Fate is more of the same sound, but the songs here seem more infectious and instantly like-able (esp. "The Old Days"). There's a definite nostalgic feel to their music, recalling a fragile atmosphere of mid-to-late '60s rock/pop. Beatles-esque comparisons are apt ones to make, but they remain only an influence as these songs are absolutely all Dr. Dog.
I really fell hard in love with this album the moment the first song began. If you like the Beatles and/or 60s music, you should without a question check this out.

They have 4 songs from Fate and two from their previous on their Myspace.

This is beautiful. Especially Nantes.
Reminiscent of Yann Tiersen's music on the Amélie soundtrack. If you at all enjoyed that, this is a no-brainer.
I really can't think of much more to say besides "it's terribly beautiful."
Listens.

P.S.
This hit the spot today:

Well, I heard the new Metallica, on youtube of all places, and it's certainly a step in the right direction, only time will tell what kind of legs it has though. Scored some tickets to see them as well.

Allow me to preface the following statement with "I've never really cared too much for AC/DC."

But, their NEW single is out, and, um, I actually.... kinda..... like it. :griff:

Not for nothing, but for those interested, you can hear most of, if not all of Metallica's Death Magnetic Album. Metallica themselves Posted 6 songs from the album. More so, after the album leaked, which youtube fought for a few days, Metallica allowed the album to be posted claiming "it was bound to happen." Apparently a few stores in Paris released the Album September 2nd, before the release date of September 12th.

IMO its a great album. A lot of the songs are throw backs to their old styles. However, the album has its own distinct feeling all together. Many are calling it the missing link between the "And justice for all" and "Black" albums. Listening to the whole album, I can say it has a lot to offer. IMO the album has its great moments, which highly outnumber its bad moments. Overall, this is damn good album, especially coming off St. Anger.

If this album was released by any other band than Metallica, it would be their smash hit. But this album coming from Metallica has heightened its standard and hype. So, I suggest keep a open mind when you get the chance to listen to it.

O man the new Underoath album is amazazing. Not as epic as their last cd but the song for song it's great. Not one bad track. And it rocks hard.

I really liked "All Nightmare Long." I got the Album and GH:III downloads of the whole when I bought it at Best Buy. I lot of the songs are pretty damn hard. lol

Any how, I a lot of review really enjoyed the first 6 or 7 tracks. They said some of the songs are quiet long, which many felt wasn't necessary. They say the "instrumental" came off as more of a jam session or a demo without vocals. I think its a great album. Could of been improved a bit but it give me hope that they still can put out metal...fast metal at that. I hope in a few more years they put out another album that takes a step further in the same direction as this one did. I think they will learn a few lessons on what they could of improved from this album by the end of it all. But definitely the album can be enjoyable and definitely worth at least one hearing.
