What are you listening to? (general music thread)

Boss left for the day, I stopped listening to the Meshuggah's Koloss and hit this up instead -

edit: sorry I didn't realize how terrible the audio quality was on that song, honestly i suggest finding it in better quality, it's great :)

Listening to the new Shins album, Port of Morrow and the new Andrew Bird album, Break it Yourself. Both are very good.

What's your favorite NIN album?

Can't get enough of the new Meshuggah album, my copy just came in the mail today and I can finally listen to it in good quality, the vinyl too is so pretty. Here's their first official video from the album -

Spun Amorphis's The Karelian Isthmus this morning on my way to work.

Last night I saw Meshuggah for the first time. I adore the band and the experience outdid the one I had from the Ulcerate show a few nights ago. I was up front in the middle, edge of the mosh pit. The pushing was as bad as the Gwar show I was at in Oct/ Nov and I was glad I survived that haha. Lots of jumping and headbanging ensued. Their sound was massive and they were so tight. They're like in my top 5 band list, but seeing them live has upped my appreciation for the band even more. Of course, my feet hurt, ears are ringing. Decapitated sounded monotonously bad and Baroness were boring as hell.

This 5 track EP has been on repeat for me the past few days. It's so good. The theme is a zombie apocalypse and they add in all this cool stuff between tracks or in the music itself. For example they got a chainsaw starting up which then melts into heavy distortion and during breakdowns you hear shells hitting the floor as if the heavy guitars are shotgun blasts. It sounds stupid when trying to explain it but if you like this type of music and aren't sick of the zombie stuff yet (or even if you are) I highly recommend this short ep. It's just high energy metal that does not take itself too seriously.

Electronic Dream 2 came out a few months ago and I've been listening to it constantly, he just doesn't disappoint ... this's a siiiiiiiilky smooth cover of Motorcycle's As The Rush Comes In

I'm listening to Soundgarden's new album, King Animal. If I didn't know any better, I'd think it came out just a few years after Down on the Upside. I'm seeing them when they come to town in February. It's good to know one of our hometown bands is still rocking, even after all this time.

Found this compilation of some records I own, excellent dark ambient music http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiS9J9Y9o5Q

Brooding yet calming.

New Vampire Weekend is really damn good. Best album from them yet.

It's pretty good, I'll admit. But I cannot get over their pretentious, over-reaching lyrics.

I also really like Dillinger Escape Plan latest album ''One of us is the Killer''. Definitely one of my favorite DEP.

I'm not kidding, it was the only CD in my car so I've been listening to it on the way to work at 5:30 in the morning and then in LA traffic on the way home for the last two weeks. Needless to say, it's a surreal experience. I've heard it so much now that I feel like I'm suffering from the equivalent of musical Stockholm syndrome. "Maybe this is good?... no."

Jesus, I forgot this thing existed... I don't think I ever gave it a proper listen. Sounds like I did myself a favor.
