Berserk NES

I did some searching around the forums to see if this was posted at some point in the past... it may have been, but if so, I found nothing. So I don't know if this pic is old as sin, or something relatively new.

So without further ado... does anybody have any idea where this came from?



Google and Google Japan returned no discernable results for me.

It's obviously one of two things: first, and most likely, it's a fun mock-up screenshot of a Berserk game done in the early Final Fantasy NES/FC style... or second, it's a collage of actual screenshots from an actual rom hack of one of the NES/FC Final Fantasy games. I can only pray it's the latter, but I'm betting the former. Can anyone shed some light on this? I'm dying of curiosity, and the screenshots are just plain cool.

Wow, that's amazing. I'd never seen it before, so thanks a lot for posting it. Where'd you find it? Anyway, at first glance I'm also of the opinion that it's a mock-up screenshot. It looks too high quality to be an actual NES rom hack, even though it mocks FF1's old school graphics. I'm a bit busy at the moment but when I get the time I'll check to see if I can find some information on it.

It was found on a site called Gelbooru amidst porn, apparently. I checked it out myself as soon as the pic was sent to me, but the site didn't give hint of an origin, unfortunately.

It probably is a mock-up, yeah. The Rochine pic seems to have a different-colored black box around her, for example. However, one thing that gave me hope was the fact that they stick with the palette limitations of the NES/FC itself. The hair/armor on Guts' sprite were kept the same color... same with Griffith (whose hair should be light blue!) and Zodd, who ends up looking like a brown-haired little girl because of it, heh.

Ah well... merely wishful thinking.

Ok. I'm not too surprised, since this site's been popular recently. SaiyajinNoOuji knows it well. Unfortunately it doesn't help us at all, since anyone could have put it in there.

Yeah, in fact each of the black backgrounds is of a slighty different shade, and there's a discrepancy between the blue in the windows as well. It's too bad whoever did this forgot those little details! As for the "brown-haired little girl", I believe it's actually Rickert.

The Nes one looks pretty cool, even if it may not be a real game. That other "thing" however... is a piece of sh1t.

Oh God, Schierke looks horrible.

Wow, given I just got a flash cart for my Nintendo DS, the idea of this being an actual rom is pretty exciting.

Someone versatile in Japanese should post the screen shot in 2chan and see what comes up.

Okay, with the help of a friend, I was able to locate this. It's definitely just an edit.

Unfortunately the site requires registration to browse actual full-sized images, galleries, and profiles. I went ahead and registered, and it's an edit by a particular user, dated 2008.5.7.

Ah well, it was worth dreaming! Heck, the first comment in Japanese said "I'm saving up my money until the release date!" to which the author replied "Release date is undetermined, LOL". What a tease.

Ah, nice. I didn't think to look on Pixiv, but it makes sense. Well, too bad for those who dreamed about an actual game, but I find the picture itself very neat anyway.

Hmm... guess it's time to harass the creator of the pic into being the sprite creator for an actual remake!
