I wonder how many fart jokes Splinter will make in the film.

Skipping Teenage Galactic Ninja Turtles
as well as that Hunger Games Trilogy.

A day later, after fan outrage and shouts of Teenage Mutant Alien Turtles, he responded on his website - http://www.shootfortheedit.com/forum/showthread.php?10389-Ninja-turtles

It's still on hold over budget problems, basically stuck in production hell. So, we can stop posting it in here every few weeks. :griffnotevil:

I'm still waiting for MTV to release its Rocky Horror Picture Show remake. Just so I can throw my shoe at the TV.

Starring Justin Timberlake as Dr. Frankenfurter, Sisqó as Riff Raff, and Mike "The Situation" as Rocky.

PS: That Sisqó joke makes me sound old, doesn't it?

Look forward to the 2nd remake of Carrie to "start production soon". -- sigh.

Los Angeles (CNN) -- "Kick-Ass" actress Chloe Moretz has been chosen for the title role in a movie remake of Stephen King's "Carrie," a horror story about a teenaged girl whose telekinetic powers turn a high school prom into an inferno.

The original 1976 movie, directed by Brian DePalma, launched John Travolta's film career and earned Oscar nominations for Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie. Moretz, 15, tweeted about it Tuesday: "Never been so happy in my life! Thank you Kim Pierce and thank u MGM for the chance of a lifetime i will never forget!" Spacek was 26 when she played Carrie White, a socially outcast high school student who grew up sheltered by an abusive mom, played by Laurie.

Carrie, in her desire to become accepted by classmates, wanted to attend her school's prom, but her mother objected. "They're all going to laugh at you," her mother told her, a line that became one of the film's most memorable. MGM announced last year that it hired Marvel Comics writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who is also a staff writer on the "Glee" TV show, to pen a new script based on King's 1974 novel.

The studio did not say when production would begin or when the film would hit theaters.

Moretz most recently starred in Martin Scorcese's "Hugo," but her next film to hit theaters is "Dark Shadows." She plays Carolyn Stoddard, a rebellious teen, opposite Johnny Depp in the Barnabas Collins vampire role.

She gained attention in 2010 for her role as "Hit Girl" in the comedy superhero movie "Kick-Ass," in which Nicolas Cage played her father. She also was the vampire in "Let Me In," a 2010 remake of the Swedish horror film "Let the Right One In."

I guess they're banking on some people not having heard of the original. I've looked at the comments for both articles and they are universally negative.

95% of all Hollywood films are remakes of films from the 60's - 80's. And 95% of the time they are poorly executed -- no poorly executed is the wrong word -- blatant incompetency would best describe the production of the majority of remakes churned out by the studios. And those are Movies to dread.

Total Recall (indeeeeed): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H42YohasQyw

Only good part (besides nonsensical upside down electromagnetic roads) is the last bit of dialogue at the end, you'll know why when you see it. :slan:

I hesitated to post it yesterday, but I wasn't sure it was objectively terrible. It seems to be trying to stay closer to P. K. Dick's story, and I can't frown on that. That being said, what jumped to me right away is that they totally stole Mass Effect 2's robot design.

Yeah that last part was a pleasant surprise, I had no clue he's in it :isidro:. Overall, it looks decent enough for me to go check out. I wasn't a fan of Colin till I saw him first in Minority Report for that brief role that he had and executed pretty well. Some camera angles shown in the trailer look pretty cool but it's the slow-mo that always bothers me, it's like a dumbed down version of what I'm supposed to see which I hate.

How close was Verhoeven's version to the book? I haven't read the book =_='

Thanks for that bit of info, Aazealh.

This pretty much sums the movie's re-release in 3D - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6mMvBeEPT4&feature=player_embedded

A bit of intrigue but predictable. The trailer gives away waay much, also saves me the hassle of spending money to watch it on the big screen.

Aazealh said:
Predictable? Really? From the looks of the trailer they're on the contrary trying way too hard to make this unpredictable.

Uuhhmmm gotta admit I'm pretty curious after seeing it rated high --> http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_cabin_in_the_woods/

I'm going to go watch it after work ...

I'm going to see Cabin In The Woods tonight too. I heard their was some Lovecraftian type stuff in it so I guess I'm a little intrigued.

I'd stay away from reading ANY spoilers/ reviews on the movie. It'll ruin the surprise you get at the end.

Yea I didn't know anything about this movie, didn't even watch the trailer. Best gamble I've ever made on movie in theaters. This movie was fucking awesome and does not belong in this thread at all. Can't say much without ruining it so I won't but it was really great.

Sad days for movies...

Universal’s Battleship continues to screen strongly overseas with estimates from Day 2 and Day 3 bringing the 72-hour total to $58 million with all 26 international territories now open. Director Peter Berg’s military vs alien actioner opened to #1 in 24 of those new territories.

– The UK opened #1 on Friday with an estimated $1.3M (£770). That’s ahead of Thor but behind Wrath Of The Titans and John Carter. The total with previews is $3.7M (£2.3M).

– Spain opened #1 with an estimated $900k (€681k), better than Iron Man.

– Germany opened #1 on Thursday with $900K, which is the biggest opening for an English language film in Germany this year. It continued #1 on Friday with $1.2M, equal to Iron Man but not as big as Transformers.

– Japan opened #1 with an estimated $900k (LC 72M), higher than Thor‘s opening day.

– Thailand opened #1 with $470K, which is the biggest opening day of 2012 and Universal’s 2nd biggest opening day ever (behind only Fast Five).

– Malaysia opened #1 with $390K, which is Universal’s biggest opening day of all time.

– Korea had another strong day and Battleship remains #1 with a three-day total of $4.2M (LC 4.7M) — better than Iron Man and Thor.

...and...

I saw this piece of shit yesterday.

There is, I kid you not, a scene in the middle where all their radar and sonar has been out and the courageous Japanese captain onboard says he can work out where to fire the missiles to kill the aliens based on tsunami buoy displacement stats that they put up on a grid on a screen. A grid with letters down one side and numbers down the other. I am not even fucking kidding. This is in the film. He shouts out “B-11!” and then Rihanna presses the fire button (Who designs a warship that can fire missiles at such a vague target???) and then they wait to see if it hits. I would have asked for my money back if I’d actually paid.

It is worse than TRANSFORMERS 1, 2 and 3 combined. At least those were eccentrically shit. This is just shit. And Michael Bay deserves a royalty cheque for it.

Seriously, where's the reset button for mankind?
