Branded as a sacrifice for Griffith's
entry into God Hand as Femto, Guts in all reality should have perished
along with his fellow Hawks. But since he is branded with 'the seal' he is placed on a
fate that is beyond humans. In a plane of existence between human and
demon fate. There seems to be a rule among the humans, they cannot alter their
own fate. Only gods or demons can change their destiny. Guts is beyond
human fate, and thus can alter both human and demon's destinies. The most
recent example of this, is in chapter 166, where Guts breaks
through the wall of demons seperating him from Casca, something that he
shouldnt be able to do. This is but one example of many of Guts feats of
defying a demon or gods expectations of a human.
In much simpler terms, Guts brand places him on a fate of both potential death, as demons are constantly after him in the night...and the freedom to chase his dream, for he is outside of causality... |

Skull Knight, after the Roshinu incident:(vol
16) "For a human to follow this path...as cruel as this...can he continue to walk it as a human? Or will he..." Zodd, after the eclipse: (vol 13) ( additional help by Olivier, thanks!) "...so, that swordsman survived the eclipse...such a cruel fate, we'll see how you will do in this world of night, Marked Swordsman." Demons chasing Guts in volume 16 say that if Guts continues killing, he will eventually become like his friend (referring to Femto/Griffith), and like them, live only to kill.. |
