The God Hand are , as far as we know, servants of Idea. Idea is their only ruler. To all else, they are Gods. Or perhaps to others, angels. The demons serve the God Hand, and the lesser demons worship them, as shown in volume 13.

In volume 12, Wild told Zodd, just before he was killed, that the God Hands only rule was to "do as you will". Interestingly enough, this is the same rule that Alistair Crowley wrote, as a key into the world of Black Magick.

Their true intentions thus far are not known to us. However, so far it would seem that the God Hand are merely guiding fate down a particular path. Controlling human events through the shadows. Only now are parts of their actions coming into frution. For example. Griffith. Before now, we all believed that he transformed into Femto to be a God-like being, simply for more power. However, the events of recent accord reveal that he will once again take form in the flesh. And so far, all signs point to the speculation that he will become a world leader. Surely such a thing would unite the world again under one empire, and cease all wars.

Where might we have heard something like this before? I do beleive it was Gaiseric. It would seem that the God Hands intentions are not truly to be 'jerks', but it is something deeper than that. Do they exist to guide humanity down a path of good? Or in the end, does it lead to destruction? A small clue in this area is the recently unearthed conversation between Griffith and Idea, Chapter 83. This scene was taken out of the manga, but it was in the publication Young Animal, and so, very few individuals got a hold of it. Somehow, mister Olivier' got a hold of a transcript of it, and, here it is:

Griffith : "God... This..." "Does that mean that it was humans..." "Does that mean that it was humans that created God ?" "Does that mean that it was humans that desired this ?" "This terrifying thing ?" "This... This looks like..."

Idea : "Hell" "Some call it that way"

Griffith : "Hell..."

Idea : "This is just the surface" "of the multiple layers of the whole consciousness" "But you know" "You know that this place is terribly human"

"Violence and loneliness..." "This place is filled with all kinds of blurred negative feelings" "The will that binds humans together"

Griffith : "... Actually" "it's true" "This" "is... in me" "I can feel it" "But why ?" "Why were you born ?" "Why did humans give born to this will called God ?"

Idea : "The humans" "desired causes"

"Reasons for pain... Reasons for sadness" "Reasons for life" "Reasons for death" "Why were their lives filled with suffering ? Why were their deaths absurd ?" "They desired a reason for the destiny that kept transcending their knowledge"

Griffith : "And that was..." "God"..."

Idea : "And I became so" "I control destiny" "since this is what that wanted me to be and do"

"Obeying to the essence of human kind" "I weave every man's destiny"

Griffith : "... Does that mean that you're the one" "that controlled my destiny ?..."

"That you're the one" "that arranged everything so that it would be this way !?"

Idea : "Dokyu..."

"It was established that you would be here since a distant past"

"By influencing the lower levels of human consciousness "and merging blood with blood" "I created the lineage that would give birth to the man you are"

"By manipulating History" "I paved the way for the times you would be born in" "and created an appropriate context for you"

"All the encounters you made so far" "were a part of the destiny that led you here as well"

Griffith : "... The destiny..." " My..."

"God" "What do you want from me ?!"

Idea : "Be" "as you will"

"I dwell deep in your hear I'm a part of you" "You're a part of your kind's consciousness, a part of me" "Your desire is my desire as well" "Your actions themselves" "will be suitable for your kind as a whole" "May they bring pain or salvation to the men"

"Do as you will Chosen One"

Griffith : "... If so..." "I want wings"

Idea : "Then take with you" "the power of the feelings this inner world is filled with" "and change this physical field that is your body" "into the suitable shape for you"

This suggests that The God Hand exist as servants of Idea, a God who exists because of the fear and hatred that is within all humans. In that case, God Hand exist to guide humanity down a rut of destruction, for that is what humans believe, in their hearts and souls to be right...

Griffiths intervention here is interesting for, he desires His own empire...What will be do with it once he has it? Will be he use it to go against fate? Can humanity truly step beyong its rut of destruction? But of cource, this is assuming that God Hand has no other master plan other than mass destruction, and ending an age, giving light to another...Yes, that is assuming much.



As for the individual God Hand, and their origins and pasts...not much is known. There is a brief hint at the origin of Void, as fortold by Mozgus in volume 18... Mozgus was telling Farneeze about how the evil King was opressing the people with his taxes and cruelties and out of the people came a priest who prayed to God daily, and one day, God ansered his prayers and sent down his angels to punish the King... We have heard this story before, but now it has a deeper twist to it...Void. Of cource, it is only speculation that it is Void that summoned the God Hand in the first place. However, what other grudge would Skull Knight have against Void, than the catalyst for the destruction of< his empire?


The history of the other God Hand is, still pending... I do think that in some way/shape/form we will learn of their pasts...but that shouldnt be here for a long while...
