How "Clerks" turned me into a Noob Berserk Fan

Hey everyone... not a huge anime fan here. I grew up watching Starblazers ( Battleship Yammato ), Battle of the Planets, and of course loved Robotech... but I never read any Manga or watched a ton of other anime besides a few movies like Akira and Ghost in the Shell.

Anyways... was on kazaa looking for clips from the movie "Clerks" where Olaf sings his "Berserker" song... most of you know how it goes "my love for you is like a blah blah... "

Anyways (part 2)... I happened across a video clip entitled Berserker - "Forces" and so I downloaded it and low and behold... I got blown away by the images I saw and I absolutely LOVED the song...

and now I'm a ravening drooling Berserk freak... I'm ordering a set of the 3 HK DVD's to watch and then I'm going to get my hands on the manga and read up on them. I've just read all the synopsis that were posted on skullknight.net and I hunger for the real deal.

I'm still an anime/manga noob so most of your posts here look japanese to me haha... but please bear with me as I try to cope.

Just thought I'd post an interesting story how a completely unaware person was brought into the Berserk Universe.

Take Care!!

PS: If any of you guys play Unreal Tournament still... please say hello over at my clan website. We are a sniper clan who play primarily on Zero Ping Modded servers... hence our clan name and website: www.zpallstar.com

if I ever start a new clan, I'll call it Taka no Dan!!!

one more thing... I really want to get my hands on the DVD's so I can watch them in a nice format other than my (gulp) umm.. avi's that i've been downloading (blush)

but ponying up 150 bucks for the 6 official disks is kinda out of my range at the moment

however.. I will save up for the real deal ones if you guys tell me those are the only ones with those hilarious dubbing or outtakes I saw the thread on where Griffith sings etc... if the 3 disk HK DVD's don't have those goody extras then I will bide my time and get the full 6 DVD set. Just gimme the word.

Aeons gone, vast, mad and deathless
Welcome...and a word of advice, if your gonna see the anime first, dont search for alot of info on the net, or you'll come across big spoilers, and it could ruin the fun of watching the episodes for the first time...specially the last ones.

the offical 6 discs are the only ones to include the dubbing and outtakes. save your money for those.

robotech is bootleged american crap, watch macross. It has been acknowleged that hamony gold stole the rights of macross in order to make robotech.

now about the dvds, before buying them I'd check to see if you can rent any from blockbuster, at my blockbuster they have 5 of 'em. Anyway media blasters really fucked up on translating berserk...

as for the "Import" dvd that miraculously has english subtitles, you should get it from www.discountanimedvd.com don't worry they're reliable I bought Berserk, X tv, ZoE. yes i know it's wrong but I hate american corperations such as pioneer and adv and media blasters so much that this is my way of saying "fuck your shitty dubs".

Hey BOb... nothing but classic UT baby.. we're currently ranked #2 for Sniper CTF, ranked #1 for Sniper TDM on IGLnet.com

Nightcrawler - umm.. I kinda broke down and got all the episodes on AVI and watched them

To everyone else - I'm going to get the official set. Should be able to sneak one out of Ebay for about $100

Thanks for all the responses!!!

You could rent the DVDs and then make some VCDs. I get mine from a friend then rip and convert. Divx is fun too, I make some Divx discs and play them on dreamcast. I added my own logo on the bottom right corner of the screen! "Dilco Ind. VCD." Unfortunately, I need some better software for editing and adding effects for mpegs, I can barely cut stuff out with what I have now. And virtual dub only adds filters and stuff if you convert to something, that's why only my divx things have a logo. Anyways, if you want to take the illegal route, I can help you.

dreamcast can play divx discs?

Yeah, sorta. I make them into discs specifically for dreamcast, but I'm prety sure you could boot up a DCDivx disc then put in any old divx disc. At least if it's bitrate is under 700 kbit/s. Check DCemulation.com and check in Software, there's a huge tutorial somewhere, DCDivx4dummies. It's basically foolproof.

The only problem I have is that there's no fastforward or rewind and 1 second after it starts the video for 30-90 seconds then works fine. Occasionally It freezes on me again, but only video never sound.
