Character Cove / Casca's love for Guts
« on: April 16, 2015, 02:53:08 PM »
There are several scenes where Casca shows her love for Guts. I think she's quite daring about it. Even more direct than Guts. But in the manga the two never say "I love you" : I think it's the Japanese way.
In what scene do you feel Casca's love for Guts the most?
For me, it's when she told Guts to leave after she decided to stay to take care of Griffith.
She wanted to leave with Guts but couldn't abandon Griffith to his fate. But while she was willing to sacrifice her life, she didn't want Guts to sacrifice his, even though she'd clearly be miserable.

Berserk Miscellaneous / How many people around you read Berserk?
« on: October 18, 2014, 01:02:22 PM »
My husband, my brother and my three brothers-in-law read Berserk. But except for my husband, they all just read my own collection and didn't bother buying them. :puck: And none of my friends read it even though I've recommended it for a long time.

How about you guys?

Speculation Nation / What do you think Schierke wants to say?
« on: April 12, 2011, 08:42:02 AM »
Page 02

Schierke: Guts!

Guts: A stone statue?
Schierke: It's a seal, probably...

Schierke: It's part of an ancient civilization.
Schierke: Then it means...

This line is very meaningful. I can't overlook it. It should be followed by something like "we might (    )".
I can't stop thinking about the part left to our imagination here. How do you think Schierke meant to finish her sentence?
It should be related to her guess about the stone statue being from an ancient civilization.

Speculation Nation / What happened to Daiba?
« on: April 09, 2011, 03:53:44 PM »
I always wonder where he is and what he is doing now. Is he safe and can he live for a hundred years more? Or did he transform into something like his master?

Can we see him again in the manga? Or will Miura leave his fate for us to wonder?

Speculation Nation / Will Isidro enter the lair of the Sea God?
« on: February 17, 2010, 03:09:09 PM »
We have less than a week to answer this poll since the next episode will come out soon. Hurry and vote! :troll:

Actually it was a very hard question for me. I can't stop expecting them to end up like Tom Sawyer and Becky. :guts:
So I voted for option 1. My two cents are on "He ventures forth, considering himself a "pro" when it comes to these situations. The girl follows."

News & Not News / Usui Yoshihito, creator of Crayon Shin-chan, is dead
« on: September 23, 2009, 05:13:46 PM »
It looks like the news hasn't reached many people in the West. Usui Yoshihito, the author of the very popular manga "Crayon Shin-chan" is dead. It was an unbelievable accident. It seems he fell off a cliff while taking pictures. His last photo was even revealed recently.

I love Shin-chan very much. I've been reading the manga since it was serialized in a Korean magazine for women. Not many people know that the manga originally targeted adult women (especially married women). So its topic naturally includes a lot of "sexual" stuff. But the target switched to children as the character became more popular long time ago.

Some articles on the incident:

His two daughters worked with him as his assistants. He'd implied he intended to finish the series soon, as soon as his contract would be over in fact, in an interview in 2007. In Japan and Korea, many people are sad about this great loss. He really was a kind man, dedicated to his fans. Sensei, thank you very much for amusing us for the last 19 years!

I've been thinking a lot about this matter. Casca might regain herself with the help of the King of the Flower Storm, but what if she doesn't remember anything about the eclipse? I mean she could have just kept all the memories before the occultation.

I also thought maybe she still doesn't want to get back to her original state, considering what SK said: "However, it's not sure you and her will want the same thing." I see it as kind of her choice to have been an imbecile-like girl so far because her inner mind didn't want to cope with the horrible reality. It actually happens to many people who have crazy experiences. They remain speechless or insane or retain no memories. It's a sort of subconscious self-protection mechanism.

I've been wondering about how this could be a partial success for Guts. If she doesn't remember anything about the eclipse, what should Guts do? Should he tell her everything, at the risk of deeply hurting her, in order to rally her against Griffith?

If this thing happens, I think Guts will just leave her like she is. But then, it means he can't keep his journey for revenge and she can't accompany him, which lead him to make a decision to leave her behind AGAIN. Or simply, he can take her with him without telling her anything.

What do you guys think?

Shootin' the Breeze / Your plans for the future
« on: July 20, 2009, 07:32:43 PM »
I've been working on several awfully boring projects these days. To change my mind I felt like asking you guys what are your big plans for the future at the moment.

Personally my concern is to have a house with an in-door swimming pool. Consequently I should build up my career to meet the financial requirements. I'm not interested in journeying too much. I'd rather focus on getting everything I want at home right now. I can understand Michael Jackson in this regard. :badbone: Then, of course, we'll have a display room filled with only Berserk stuff. I also need a room to serve as my office. I'd probably like to have garden parties, inviting people and so on.

Thinking about it I get cheerful, but I should get back to work anyway. :judo:

Character Cove / Puck appreciation thread
« on: July 11, 2009, 09:05:26 AM »
Puck is great, that is a fact. So let's post about it! Either funny or epic moments he's had, anything that you like about him. And since there are enough threads complaining about him, please don't bother posting in here if it isn't to say something nice. :puck:

I'll start with a moment in volume 24 when Isidro recognized Puck as truly acting like a teacher to him. Isidro was just done training with Guts and got into an argument with Puck. He was summarily defeated:

He then revealed his dream of becoming the ultimate swordsman, to Puck's amusement:

Finally, while Guts and Serpico were busy "gathering wood" and Farnese and Casca were being abducted by trolls, we can see Isidro training into the Elf Dimensional Style martial arts:

When Roderick asked Guts what Casca meant to him on page 6 of episode 287, he couldn't (didn't maybe) complete his line: "she's my..."

I really wonder what he wanted to say. So I myself tried to complete his line. I thought of:

"She's the one I should protect".
"She's my girl."
"She's my captain."
"She's my old friend."

My final choice goes to "She's the one I should protect". I personally don't think Guts would directly say "she's my lover". It's neither his way nor the Japanese way, I think.

I also think maybe Guts himself didn't know what to say.

What's your opinion on that? And try to complete his line yourself here.

Character Cove / Griffith or Ganishka, which one are you rooting for?
« on: February 23, 2007, 06:53:56 PM »
The final battle of Ganishka vs Griffith is supposed to take place in Wyndham. We all know that Ganishka will be defeated by Griffith eventually. But Ganishka is too good as a character to disappear too soon or miserably. Yeah, he's very popular in Japan, Korea and on this board too of course. Japanese Berserk fans call Griffith and Ganishka "Guri and Gani" (such typically Japanese abbreviations :puck:) and want to see their last battle come to a close call at least. And me too.

I want to ask you guys straightforwardly. Regardless of the fact that Griffith will probably win the battle, which one do you really support in your mind? I definitely go for Ganishka.

Character Cove / Who is the worst father in Berserk?
« on: February 16, 2007, 05:56:33 PM »
We've seen several "bad" fathers in Berserk. Miura made a short comment about his father in an interview. He seemed to respect his father a lot to me. But in Berserk, there aren't many good fathers. I even wonder who can be considered a "good" father in the manga. Godot? Yeah, he's the only one, maybe? (I'm including foster-fathers). So I wanted to make a poll about that. The candidates are:

1. Federico Vandimion:
He's a bad father to both Farnese and Serpico. He's as cold as an ice with his children. Thinking about his reaction to Farnese, when she came to him to ask for a boat, it gives me a chill. *shudders*

2. Zepec:
Jill's father. He's a typical loser who beats his daughter and wife. The most horrible thing though is that he even doesn't notice/care that Jill is in danger of being raped by his scoundrel-friends. But he did shoot the Black Swordman, Guts!! And I should admit I could sympathise with him when he complained about his life. Anyway, he's a bad father to Jill.

3. Midland King:
I'm voting for him. He's a damn king but I think the princess, Charlotte has the worst father. He's had this dirty desire for his own daughter all these years. Even if he did great things for the people of Midland, he's a horrible father.

4. Gambino:
He's Guts' adoptive father. Though he wasn't a good father to the young Guts, the important thing is that Guts wanted to follow him and love him. And Gambino was the one who taught Guts how to use a sword and trained him. I personally think he could have been a good father if Sis hadn't died. But he let Donovan rape Guts  and that hurt the poor kid so deeply. Ugh, why did you do that, Gambino?

Let's vote!

Creation Station / 3D Berserk armor
« on: August 30, 2005, 09:32:27 PM »
Boodongi, a Korean fan of Berserk, made the Berserk armor with 3DS Max. He said it took him 10 hours and he is working on a video these days.

Character Cove / "That's why I shouldn't allow it"
« on: June 02, 2005, 10:16:20 AM »
In the episode 256, Serpico said.

Madam Farnese isn't the only one that has been changed, I've also changed much myself [...]
I've felt helpless with the fact that Madam Farnese has been changed beause of you but I've also been happy with that.
That's why I shouldn't allow it.

I thought much about that but couldn't figure it out.
Does it mean that he shouldn't allow it because Farnese has been changed because of Guts, or he has also been changed? Or because he's felt helpless but has also been happy with that? Or because of both reasons? Or another one? ???

Miura said this in an interview with Kurimoto Kaoru (栗本薫) in the Guin Saga Official Navigation Book.
It's not sure if Serpico is such a character going toward a life for the other only
I think we can see well what Miura said in this episode.

All we can know clearly is that Serpico doesn't want Guts to kill/hurt Farnese. But why should it be related to his lines above?

Shootin' the Breeze / Paper robot
« on: January 01, 2005, 11:35:18 AM »
This is made of paper by Korean guy, Kim Sooyoung.

He won the first prize in the 6th Paperwork Science Contest this summer.
According to him, it usually takes 3-4hrs and 30-60 A4 sheets of paper to make one paper robot.

Isn't it so great?

Shootin' the Breeze / Olivier is gone
« on: December 31, 2004, 11:40:10 AM »
He's gone. Sad,very sad.  :'(

There are quite a few people I don't like, here. Quite a few stupid things I've read. Especially in the last couple of years. I could still deal with all that.
But if we've reached the point where most people think you actually belong in these forums, I'm out. It's that simple.

I heard very sad news on the last day of this year.
I hope he'll come back a while after though it doesn't seem so to me.
Yeah, he's done too much and good things for this board while we've just tired and bothered him. I think I can understand him.

Can't we do anything to get Olivier back?  ::)
Any idea is welcome.

Shootin' the Breeze / Hokuto no ken movie

Hokuto no ken was made into a Korean movie (for video I think) a long time ago. The running time of the full movie is 1:24 and they say there's a second movie :o though I don't care nor want to see it. Never!

Warning: it's horrible.

Berserk Miscellaneous / Zodd appeared in USA
« on: November 20, 2004, 11:27:23 AM »
I found an interesting post in the Japanese forum. Click on the picture below.

Rough Translation:

The giant monster with the wings: Batchikatchi.

Location: The Cascade mountains, Washington, USA

It's called Batchikatchi as it has the big wings similar to those of a bat. The name is inspired from the name "Sasukatchi".

Brian Canfield, the Mt. Rainier in the Cascade mountains, encountered this monster after 9:30 PM, 17 April in 1994.

He was driving home in his truck on the highway but the truck got stuck so suddenly when something wrong happened to it. Then the mysterious monster came up from the sky 9m ahead of his truck.

The creature was a big monster (7m tall) with the wings and it flew away toward the Mt. Rainier after they looking at each other about 2~3 minutes.

Some villagers said they had heard a sharp and strange cry of a monster a few days before this happened.

A strange thing is that the helpless parts of the truck, the engine and head lights or so, started to work after the monster had gone. This is similar to EM effect(some electric parts don't work)which we can see with UFO. So there are some researchers studying the relation with UFO.

A while after, Brian said he saw a dark green chopper used only for the government flew after the monster had flown away . There is some mysterious factory under the government near to the spot. So there are some people who think the monster might be related to the government.

It seems to have something similar to UMA Jersey Devil in New Jersey.
It can also be Alien animal though it's a sheer mystery.

  • 7m tall
  • human proportion/physique
  • all covered with blue and gray hairs
  • big head and wolf face
  • triangled eyes shine yellow
  • white and sharp teeth
  • pointed ears
  • bird legs with sharp claws
  • just approaching it, EM effect comes up

My comment: Believe or not....

Creation Station / My fanfic: An encounter with Judeau in Elfhelm
« on: October 13, 2004, 08:12:24 AM »
I wrote this a long while ago. It was on Walter's fanfic section which is gone now, so I post it here with some pictures.

The interesting thing is the fact that there is a queen of Elfhelm in my fanfic and that I wrote "Judeau" back then. Now it's "Judo".
Enjoy it.

The story goes on.....

Judo is saved in the eclipse

by the queen of Elfhelm
*The great Italian artist Strix drew this for me so willingly. Thanks again Strix.*

Judo taking a rest in the forest of the Elves
*This one was drawn by Griffith back then. Now he's "Griffith No More!".
Thanks again "Griffith No More!". You are so cool.*

Judo's portrait
*Cough cough. Done by me. This is my poor try on oekaki.
See how my ability is? I need help!* :-[

I always wanted to put my fanfic into pictures but I don't have any ability to do that. But I know there are many good artists or Photoshop users here so I want to ask them for help.
If some of you are interested in my fanfic below after reading it, maybe you could find some proper pictures to illustrate the story, or even create some yourself?
That way I would be able to make it a pictorial story with your help.
This is just my poor try to create a small side story for Berserk, kind of like the prototype in volume 14. I'll be insanely happy if I can make it.

For my pictorial story, here are some tips:

1) Judo
With long hair hanging down to his back.
He's skinny, pale, emaciated and disabled considering the huge damage he receved during the Eclipse.
His right arm especially is nothing more than a rag.

2) Elf Queen: The ruler of Elfhelm
It needs great creativity.
I think she's like Rochine + Flora and a bit bigger and older than normal elves.
And I also imagined Guts was talking with her while putting her on his palm.

3) The scene where Judo and Casca are together.
Ohhh, it's a very impressing scene!
Judo is looking at an insane Casca, trying to remember those good old days he had with her.

4) The scene Guts gives Judo a piggyback ride.

I know it sounds a bit crazy and it's a bothering thing to do.

Help me please!! :)

Berserk Miscellaneous / Miura made an error?
« on: October 03, 2004, 09:15:43 AM »
Look carefully at this picture.

In the first and third panels, Zodd attacks Guts with his left arm but in the last panel, the arm which attacked Guts is his right arm.
I think Miura made an error on this. But I also want to know some other thought on that. Maybe some feint motion or something?
What do you think?

Shootin' the Breeze / PL doesn't come back
« on: July 27, 2004, 07:23:44 AM »
Paradiselost doesn't come back though some people have waited for him for long time(me included, of course)
There's some mistake here related to Italian_demon.
These posts are not in proper thread so I made a new thread.

Sparnage said that you put the custon name Paradise_Lost on my nick name cause you think as he says that i am: "the infamouse user Paradise_Lost" ??
How did this come out??
I had just one nick name registered for the first time the 19th of Aprile!!
Can i please have an explaination??
I love this forum and i'm learnig so much about Berserk, i think you can't find one singol Posts that is offensive or lacking respect to someone!!
So how comes that now you accuse me to be that guy that i don't know at all??
Why didn't you contacted me personally then??
Please tell me that i misunderstood everything!!

in fact i didn't undestood why he said that sentence in the beginning, but at least he said that i understood some happenings happened in Berserk and to me it was ok....
I was very new at that time, and still i am really, i think it was you so nice and helpfull that explained the Eclips cycles, so if i was that one, would i make such a wrong theory about the Age of the GH members??
I feel bad now, cause i feel like i can't defend myself!!
For who cares to know i'm Daniele Mancinelli (Italian from center Italy), i'm studying my Master in biotechnologies in Norway, where i'm also studying English for the first time so you know why i'm not good at it. I love Berserk, Naruto, and Saint Seiya!
If you don't believe me this is very offensive cause i don't lie and i respect the guys here and i wish that they respect me as well...
I contacted Walter and i'm wainting an Answer from him, if i'm judged an Infamous person i'll leave this forum.... propably you won't miss much interesting anyway, i guess.....
Water is you are reading please answer as soon as possible!!

you are a great guy and no, you didn't offend me or accused me...
You just read "lost_paradise" on my nickname, so what you said is logical and understandable!
I didn't noticed it before you told me!
But now that i notice it, i guess that the users here thought i actually was him!
Why Walter accused me to be that one?? Why didn't he contacted me and asked??
Why i suddenly find on my profile something i didn't put into without one singol message from the Administrator??
Can Walter please answer how is it possible that suddenly i turned to be this guys?
Puella if you read this Post please say how did i happen to know this Forum!

I think he was mistaken  because he's from Italy and even his name is Daniele! :o
He's new here as he said and he met some Spanish guy on emule some while ago, who informed him of this forum.
He's definitely not our old member Paradiselost.

I also thought he's Paradiselost just because of the custom title. Sorry, Italian_demon, really sorry. :-[

He seems to be a good member. We shouldn't annoy him any more.
I suppose admins remove his custom title though Walter said it's not for accusation but for honor. It's still enough to confuse many people and to bother Italian_demon.

Speculation Nation / Puck's mystery
« on: June 10, 2004, 06:18:03 AM »
In the ep.238

This scene really interests me.
Such a look/reaction of Puck makes me think of that too much.

He just said " legend..."
He really doesn't know about the King of Flower Storm?
Or he really knows of that but there's some reason he should keep silent on that?

It's a real mystery!

I thought about that many ways.

1) He really doesn't know about the king:
then why?
*Because he is just a common / low-leveled elf?
*Or maybe he left the elfhelm before he got to know of it?

2) He does know but there's some reason he shouldn't tell anybody about him.
then why?
 * When an elf leaves his elfhelm, he should keep secret about his king?
 * Puck made a big problem with the king so he had to leave his home just because of that. That's why he doesn't want to say?
 * Considering the fact that Puck even didn't know about his origin. He's just a wnaderer elf so he could never know of it?

3) About legend.... he said
Maybe it means "it's not a legend but a real truth. why you people call it legend?"

That's all of my speculations for today. ;D
Some people even suspect  Puck could be the king though I don't think so.
What do you think of this?
