Speculation Nation / Skull knight - elf connection?
« on: March 28, 2017, 08:48:16 PM »
Hi all, I recently saw /u/thekingbobe's post on reddit:

While I certainly don't think his speculation of SK being the Sovereign of the Flower Storm has any credence it did make me carefully rethink the connections between SK and the elves.
I did a quick search on and found these  threads:  (SK is a Half-Elf )  (Peekaf the elf king) (Skull Knight = The Flower Storm King)

The above threads basically dismiss the possibility of SK being a half-elf or the Sovereign of the Flower Storm. However, I think it is obvious there is some strong connection between the elves and SK.
I believe there has been a few occasions where SK has been likened to an elf. Notably:
From episode 142

Walter also pointed out that SK's emblem happens to be a flower, which while it doesn't prove much may suggest a deeper connection between him and the Sovereign of the Flower Storm.

Do we have any ideas about this connection yet?

Based on the following assumptions:
  • SK is/was Gaeseric
  • Gaeseric was human (no part-elf here!)
  • SK was the former wearer of the berserker armor that "died"
  • SK/Flora had a substantial relationship with SotFS

My first thought was that perhaps that when SK was consumed by the berserker armor the Sovereign of the Flower Storm performed some ritual that transferred his essence into it's current form and in doing so left a distinctly elven aura on him.
This could be another reason that SK seemed so familiar with the SotFS's powers and thus told guts that upon his arrival to Skellig SotFS would be able to help Casca.

So I ask those who are likely more informed than I:
  • Do we have any theories about the relationship between Gaeseric and the elves.
  • Do we have any information about the dwarves that might relate the armor with the elves
  • Do we have anything relating Flora to the elves other than a) she had an elf living with her and b) elfhelm seems to be a haven for magic-users

Speculation Nation / Serpico vs pre-eclipse Griffith
« on: December 13, 2016, 06:11:26 PM »
I know this comparison has been done to death but I thought it would be fun to speculate who would win a straight up fight between these two. I just finished rereading the fight between Serpico and Guts on the cliff face and obviously Serpico did everything he could to skew the odds in his favor and was still defeated handily.

The last time we see Griffith fight pre-eclipse is his clash with guts where they both put in their all (well, at least Griffith) and Griffith is also handily defeated. I also feel like i need to point out that Guts is obviously far more powerful when he faces Serpico post lost-children.

I don't know if all of Serpico's carefully planned advantages on the cliff really outweigh the power gain of guts between then and when he fought Griffith pre-eclipse but I think it is roughly an even match. They both use a very agile and fast form of fighting and have shown the ability to quickly analyze their opponents.

What do you guys think? If they fight with zero prep time, who wins- Griffith or Serpico? Saber or Rapier?

Manga Mausoleum / Vol 3 / 14 Sanity check
« on: December 12, 2016, 05:33:19 PM »
Hey all,

I did a quick search of the site but I didn't see anything obvious. Common sense tells me that the Black swordsman arc fits chronologically roughly somewhere in the 2 years after the eclipse before lost children and conviction. However, I was wondering if anyone knew exactly where it fit in because it always seemed like a really big event to me during the fight with the count where he encounters the god hand again. I don't remember seeing anywhere else in the story that really refers to that event (which seems pretty notable as I think it's one of the very few times he's seen femto since the eclipse).

I guess it must be the case that it happened somewhere before lost children but I just found it odd that there is no mention of it as the story continues and guts heads off to slice up some more apostles.

Manga Mausoleum / What colour are Beherits?
« on: December 12, 2016, 05:22:37 PM »
Hey all, I know the manga refers to Griffith's Beherit as crimson, and I was under the impression that it was a bit of a special one meant for a future member of the godhand.

After my first read through I had kinda just assumed the all looked the same but with how much emphasis they put on the "crimson" one, I was wondering if anyone knew if the "regular" Beherits were all the same color or if they were assorted or what.

I know it's not really important just a small curiosity.
