Kevin J. Anderson is a hack that specializes in this kind of shit (guy released a sequel to van Vogt's Slan), and Brian Herbert looks like the average opportunist looking to make an easy buck. I know myself well enough to be absolutely certain that I would despise these sequels, and so I'd rather not waste my time with them, nor give these guys my money.
I see, thank you for clearing this up. At first i thought about reading the sequels but now you convinced me not to. Anyway i'm still looking forward to reading this book judging from all the previous comments it must be a very good.
I remember reading about a Slan sequel but i didn't know it wasn't written from A. E. Vogt. It's good that i didn't buy it in the end. I enjoyed Slan a lot. I remember thinking that if Miura has named a character after this book, it must be good :)
Other books that i recently read are George Martin's 4th book and Babel-17 from Samuel R. Delany (halfway through this one).

I went and bought Dune because of all the praise you guys give it. I remember watching the movie when i was small, fortunately i don't remember any details that will spoil me the book.
Aren't we all. I was seriously depressed when I got to the end of the series back in the day, knowing that I'd never know the end. Yet I'll never read Brian's gross sequels.
It's sad to know that the series will never be completed by Frank Herbert, but can i ask you why you won't read the sequels?

I have to admit that this comment on wikipedia looks kind of fishy...
Beginning in 1999, his son Brian Herbert and science fiction author Kevin J. Anderson have published a number of prequel novels, as well as two which complete the original Dune series — Hunters of Dune (2006) and Sandworms of Dune (2007) — partially based on Frank Herbert's notes discovered a decade after his death.
Yeah, discovered a decade after his death ... i don't know.

The second ablation lasted about 4 hours.  I was awake for the whole procedure, minus the last part of it.  I woke up with a normal heart rate.  I can't describe to you guys how wonderful it is.  My normal heart rate is now 70 on average.  I measure it all the time because I can't believe it.  I've still got a lot of fighting to do to get stronger, but my life has gotten so much better after this surgery.  I wanted to tell you about it because it's a happy ending after a lot of bad times.  Thanksgiving this year was extra special.  I've got my life back, and I'm just so thankful to be alive.
I am glad to see everything went fine with the procedure. I wish you the best my friend.

Big Hunter X Hunter fan here, the last finished arc felt drawn-out/ dragged on big-time and it starts off great with a poor end for me. Supa disappointing to say the least but I'm glad it ended at least. The post arc that's being published currently is a good comeback though!
I really like Hunter x Hunter, i've been reading it for many years now. Could you please tell me what you didn't like on the ant arc ? I would like to see your opinion. I enjoyed it quite a lot The fights between the hunters and the Ants were really good to read through. I really found myself waiting anxiously about the new chapter. I really like the chapters about Netero's past and his fight with the King was great !
I don't mind waiting between the chapters. I see it like i see Berserk, it may take some while between the episodes, but it's worth the wait.

I really like your doodles, you are very talented. Judging from your drawings, i'm guessing that you really like Silat. It's a shame that it's been a while since we last saw him.

I voted for option number 4. I can't see how they will tell the story with no background information about one of the main characters. If they leave his childhood out, i'm going to go through the whole movie thinking "meh" all looks so shiny and new ... but where is Gambino, how did guts get there ?

Edit :
...especially those introduced to Berserk through it, this is unfortunately going to be IT. Hopefully, it results in those initiates being introduced to the manga as well, but realistically it's still too bad how many will confuse this with the be all, end all of Berserk. So even though I know it's not something to be taken too seriously, I still do because I know others will. But, it's a sideshow; not the destination, not even the journey.
I agree with you 100% Griffith. I'm trying to introduce Berserk to some friends of mine and my brother. I bet that if the movie is OK, they will tell me something like, yes Berserk is cool you were right, but it's going to stay to "cool" nobody is going to bother reading the whole thing. I seriously don't expect it to be so mind blowing like the manga.

I just watched the trailer, awesome stuff, i can't wait to see it now !! Although i have to admit that i still  feel more excited when you guys announce the new episodes :schnoz:

The scene that looks the ugliest thanks to the high definition is easily the Guts charging scene. It looks straight out of Star Wars Episode I's green-screen battle on Naboo.

Yeah that scene looked weird.
Thanks for all the new Desktop Wallpapers Walter  :ganishka:

These are very good, thanks for sharing. I like how they both bow in front of the sword before they start practicing.

Most..interestingly, this seems to be the guy they're leaving all their "Swordwork" up to,
I agree with Walter, don't judge a book by its cover  :guts:. I searched his name in Youtube, and this video showed up. I have no idea if it's actually the guy we are talking about. Anyway here is the video.

Spent this week and weekend in a hospital for heart arrythmia.  My mom has been here with me.  Had a heart ablation surgery done yesterday to correct the problem but it didn't work as intended.
Sorry to hear that my friend, hope you'll get better soon !!

Shootin' the Breeze / Re: Official Weightloss/gain Thread!

I've recently lost a lot of weight. I had some problems with my life that i needed to work out, so i ate pretty much everything. At a point i just couldn't go on so i started going to the gym on a daily basis again. I believe that watching what you eat is as important as working out. I try to eat a lot at the beginning of the day , then only small portions of food throughout the rest of the day. After the gym i usually eat a can of tuna. It doesn't really feel like diet at all. Something else i got to mention is water, i didn't drink any water so i forced my self on drinking at least a liter every day
So I feel pretty good and my eating habits are still the same, eat a portion as big a the palm of your hand, you can have at least a meal like that for about every 2 hours.
I usually try to eat something every 3 to 3.5 hours. The next thing i want to do is adding salads and fruits to what i eat. Of course you'll need one or two meals every week that you can have something really tasty like chocolate  :ganishka:

Current Episodes / Re: Episode 325
« on: September 30, 2011, 08:55:22 PM »
Hey guys,
Thanks, I can't wait to read puella's translation. I think it's just me on this one, but page 17 of episode 325 kinda reminded me of Page 6 from episode 305. Femto vs Ganishka and the world get's covered in that spiritual light.
Reading this episode, raised a few questions for me. I wonder what the merrows will actually do to the sea god, i'm guessing they will hinder his movement in some way. This will create the needed opening for Guts to strike, but how will he come out, he can barely move as it is.

Page 3, middle panel... is that lightning above the Sea God? Man, this is awesome. Can it manipulate the weather?
Nice that you mention it, i never would have guessed something like that. If this is true, the ship might be in serious trouble. I think that when the Sea god's is near death, the weather will turn for the worse too (but i realize that it's too early, for me to believe something like this)

Btw, this is my first post, nice to meet you all. Excuse me for any mistakes, English is not my native language.
