Movies, TV, Books & Music / Re: Better Call Saul
« on: April 04, 2015, 06:21:32 PM »
Oh, he has a point! At the same time, in addition to being vain and sanctimonious, he's clearly also jealous and resentful of Jimmy's own gifts and personality going back to their early years, and certainly doesn't want to see, or think of, Jimmy as being an accomplished lawyer like him. Also, they're more alike than Chuck thinks, because he's been conning Jimmy the whole time! His mental affliction also seems at least somewhat tied to Jimmy's success, rather than his screw ups like Jimmy thought (started after Jimmy got his law degree, conveniently held Jimmy back since, and Chuck only got well enough now to ultimately screw him over).
I would have to disagree, i don't personally think that he is jealous. He is highly skilled and highly accomplished in his field. I think that in his eyes his brother is  failure, a small time crook that resorts to tricks in order to get his way. I personally think that he sees his brother being a lawyer as a flaw in his personal goals and career. So of course he will do everything not to be associated with him.
Hamlin Hamlin & Jimmy? =)
Speaking of, so what do we all think? Is the story going to sort of stay true to its more down to earth, actual interpersonal lawyer stuff, nature? Or is it time for Jimmy to break bad™ again and Saul-t the earth? And one way or the other, will Jimmy become Saul, nominally or in practice, by the end of the finale? I yes to the latter in both cases.
I personally think that he is not going to become Saul yet. There is a second season already planned so i think they re going to milk the story for a bit before he makes the transition to Saul.

Alright, i didn't watch the last 3 episodes. I was waiting for the season to be finished so i could watch it all together, but seeing all the comments here i decided to just watch it right now.
Man, i loved how this series has turned out. I agree that it stands on it's own and by the end Mike's storyline felt out of place. It was still fun seeing him, but all in all i felt that it made the show more exciting. From the one side you get anxious to see what happens with Saul and Chuck and from the other side it's fun to see Mike ... beeing Mike  :ubik:.
I agree that Chuck was being a dick, but i understand his point of view. He worked his ass off to get to where he was, so he felt that Saul was just trying to get some of his glory.
One thing i was wondering the whole time is this. Why was HHJ the only option for Jimmy, i can understand that he had connections there because of his brother, but with this case other big companies would beg him to get the Case. I don't get why the only options were :
1) Give the case to HHJ
2)Try to do it on your own and fail miserably

Do you guys think that Jimmy/Saul will cut all ties with his Brother (as he told him), or do you think that he will end up helping him again down the road? I personally think that Saul will end up with his brother again just because he is a good guy.

We'll see about that...
Argh, not available in my country. I'll try to search for the video, hopefully i'll find it.

Very interesting conversation. I like them both, but i were to choose one, it would be Alien. I've had this conversation with a few people, some seem to enjoy Aliens more.

It's a good match really; each movie he makes is worse than the last, just like every movie in the Alien franchise
Do you think that Alien > Aliens ?

I've been trying to read The Way of Kings, but everything already seems all too familiar so it's a little difficult to get into.
This happened to me too, i can understand what you are feeling. I was hooked as soon as they reached the Shattered Plains ( <- Don't worry, it's not a huge spoiler =) )
Give it a bit of time, i am sure that it'll grow on you.

Reading Brandon Sanderson's "The Way of Kings" book 1 of 10 (only 2 are out atm) not too far in but so far im really enjoying it. any of you guys read it?
I freaking loved the first two books. If you like Fantasy and Sci fi stories check these books out, it's a really amazing story. Even if it doesn't ever get finished, give the first books a chance.
One thing i have to recommend to you, don't read the first two books together. I did and i was burned out towards the end. I suggest you let a few months pass till you start the second book, just to appreciate the story more.

I am excited for this one, i really like Rudd and Marvel has been releasing some good movies lately. In the end it's going to be a fun ride at the cinema, i don't expect to be blown away, but i'm excited to see what they are going to show us (Ant-man's powers can open up some fun possibilities).

The Witcher 2 never did it for me.  Finished the first act 2 times and lost interest.  I hope the combat is changed enough, as well as the demand to make certain potions.
I've never actually played the Wither games, but a good buddy of mine is a big fan. He keeps telling me about a mod for the Witcher 2. It changes the whole combat system around and makes it quite good. The company that makes Witcher ended up hiring the guy that made the mod. Have you tried it ??

Sounds like Benedict Cumberbach's voice in the trailer. That light saber looks cool but wonder what the purpose of the two lateral beams are, maybe it has an advantage in close combat when both users are close to each other.
Yeah that sure sounds like Benedict.
I'm sure that they wanted to add a new light saber design, so they came up with this variation. I don't really like it though.

I thought it looked awesome. Can't wait!
Ditto, i'm really excited for this movie.

You have to admit, mishandled is quite an understatement for the ruinous prequel trilogy. It effectively killed interest in the hearts of a generation for one of the most beloved franchises ever. That takes some doing. It's the elephant in the room for any discussion of future Star Wars projects.
While i agree with you 100%, i wanted to ask you something. Do you feel the same way about Episode III - Revenge of the Sith? While i think the first two were not really that great, the third one wasn't that bad.

I'd love to see warlock (not counting on it) but I hope we get some equivalent,  even if its (dear God no) ms marvel.
Oh we are definitely getting Adam Warlock. I don't know if you've seen Guardians of the Galaxy (i am betting that you have).
On the scene where the gang meets the collector, we clearly see Adams Cocoon. Then at the after credits scene, you can see that the cocoon has opened itself up from the explosion.

I don't know. I'm pretty hyped about it, and so is everyone else I've talked to.
Don't you feel that this announcement, together with the trailer, kinda kills the hype for the "Age of Ultron" movie ?
I mean we already know that Thanos is stirring things up in the Marvel universe, so i think it was unnecessary to see him in the Trailer waving the Gauntlet.

I don't know if it's been already posted, but there is also a trailer about the Infinity Wars released. Some new scenes are on it. I'm really curious why they released something like this so early, kinda kills the hype for "Age of Ultron"

It's nothing special (it's a glorified Emmy promo), but watching these three vamp is enjoyable nonetheless.
Did you catch the Los Pollos Hermanos flier at 4:05 ?? I loved this video.

at the lack of a wedding ring on his hand, after thinking of his family. And the ring had, of course, been missing since the first episode.

I honestly thought he had a wedding ring on, i totally missed that.

Do you guys think the format of this season will stay the same throughout? As in, do you think we'll get to a point that's after the interrogation, where the modern Hart and Cohle will meet again?
Too soon to tell really. I'm thinking that they will meet at some point but it's going to be at the end of this season.

Didn't see the breaking up of Hart and his wife, that's a pretty interesting development for the characters.
I was honestly expecting something like that to happen, don't know really why, it must have been the way Hart talked about his wife. Then again we don't actually know if they get together again, at some point in the future. If i am not mistaken Hart is still wearing a wedding ring (but it could be from a different wife)

That was kind of a filler episode, story-wise, but still pretty fun. The camera sequence during the getaway was fucking out of this world. I've never seen anything like that on television before. They're really outdoing themselves on a technical level.
Man i loved that scene, amazing how they shot it.

This was probably my favorite episode so far, the action, how it all came together and seeing Cohle going undercover again was amazing.

So now that Gigantomakhia is almost finished (and seeing how amazing it turned out), are you guys glad that Mr. Miura did it, or would you have preferred some Berserk episodes instead ?
In my case i seriously Loved this work and words can't describe how happy i was when i learned that he would do a Sci-Fi mini series. In the end i was blown away by the last few episodes, as you can tell i am glad he did it.

If you pay attention to the questions they ask, the investigators seem to think Cohle is involved in the new one. He's also been spouting serial-killer doctrine the whole series thus far. Personally, I think that would be a much more interesting reveal than just some cult.
Do you think they suspect both of them, because in the last episode i honestly thought that they suspect Hart just as much as Cohle. Either that or that the new murder left them clueless so they begin searching at every possible angle for someone to blame.

Check out this mod Walter. It's made by one of the Witcher game designers, it's a great improvement. Forum thread for the mod Link
I am waiting for Witcher 3 for a while now, i bet it's going to be great.

This looks really great, thanks for sharing. I hope they release more about the game soon. I searched a bit for information, this link reveals a bit about the game.

"It's a huge game," said Hello Games' Sean Murray. "We wanted to make a game about exploration. And we wanted to make something that was real."

Murray said that, on planets, if you can see it — whether it be a mountain miles away in the distance — you can walk there. The game's persistent world is being created by the small team at Hello Games, and puts players into an ecosystem where they're not at the top of the food chain, Murray said. Space-based combat against other players and capital ships appears to be a major component of No Man's Sky.
