Movies, TV, Books & Music / Albums for Desert Island
« on: March 05, 2018, 05:12:17 AM »
I'm sure some of y'all have already heard of this lil' game but if not, the idea is this. If you were stuck on a desert island with nothing but a fully charged phone/record player/or CD player, what would be the top 5 or 10 albums you'd pick to have with you for the foreseeable future? I'm curious as to what this community's tastes in music are.  :serpico:

I don't think the order really matters but feel free to go from least to most favorite or vice versa if you wish. If the album in question is a double or triple disc release then it can be counted as one album regardless of its length. Compilation albums or soundtracks are also fine.

For me, I'd go with... (in no particular order)

1. What's Going On - Marvin Gaye
2. Me Against The World - 2Pac
3. Discovery - Daft Punk
4. Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys
5. What You Won't Do For Love - Bobby Caldwell
6. G Funk Classics Vol 1 & 2 (double album) - Nate Dogg
7. Travelling Without Moving - Jamiroquai
8. Illmatic - Nas
9. In Utero - Nirvana
10. To Pimp A Butterfly - Kendrick Lamar

My honourable mentions include Kamasi Washington's The Epic, MJ's Off The Wall, Jon B's Cool Relax and Tyler the Creator's Scum Fuck Flower Boy, all extremely close to making my list but ultimately if Im only stuck with 10 on an island, they'd begrudgingly be omitted. As you can see, I'm mostly fond of Hip Hop, RnB and Funk.

Speculation Nation / Casca & The Idea of Evil
« on: February 21, 2018, 11:59:34 PM »
So with Episode 354 out, I'm sure plenty of you have noticed the similarity between Casca's heart covered in thorns and The Idea of Evil from the lost chapter, what connection (if any) do you suppose the two have? I recall Miura saying that the reason said chapter was redacted is because it revealed too much too soon, I would say the average assumption is that it revealed too much about Griffith and causality but what if there's actually a relation to Casca?

I doubt the connection was initially planned by Miura at the time of the lost chapter's release but it could certainly be possible that Miura is retroactively adding another layer to The Idea of Evil's scheme and that this added layer concerns Casca and/or her child with Guts. It seems really ominous to me, almost as if The Idea of Evil will have a creeping influence on her but a part of me does figure it could simply be a case of reused/similar designs much like the thorns around Skull Knight's sword or those early illustrations of a cracked skull with a Beherit inside and a rose.

A heart covered in thorns isn't that uncommon of a design so maybe Im overthinking it? It could after all simply be a symbol of her trauma but something tells me Miura wouldn't let the passing similarity in design be just a coincidence.

Berserk Merchandise / Some statue suggestions?
« on: December 22, 2011, 04:13:09 AM »
Around the holidays, I will be spending some of my money online to get some Berserk statues, but I would like to ask any of you members who own some, to give any suggestions as to which you think are the best in quality or more bang for your buck?

If you own any, you can just list any of your favorites, or heck, even if you don't own any, maybe just off of observation, which ones interest you more? I know its personal preference, but just as an example, there's already quite a lot of Guts statues, so which one is the best in your opinion.

Also, a bit unrelated, but I just want to say, I will be offline for a good 3 or 4 days starting from Saturday because of family during the holidays of course, not like anyone needs or does care, but just leaving that out there.  :farnese:

Berserk Miscellaneous / Berserk related gifts
« on: December 19, 2011, 01:14:37 AM »
Since Christmas is nearby, what best Berserk gift have you ever given or received? Was there anything you made yourself, or tracked down to buy?

A friend of mine this holiday season, just bought me 16 volumes, he's got alot of money of course, and I'm just amazed, I will get him a gift back of course but the gift is unrelated.

I've bought two volumes for a local friend during a convention once, and I'm currently making a Beherit necklace for one of my relatives. *note the top gold part for the rope has been finished and I've improved the look just a tad bit, but I haven't taken a photo of it yet, so this is a bit of a beta picture*

Anyhow, let's hear about some Berserk gifts,  :iva: if you haven't gotten any, or never got the chance to get any for anyone, then speak about any gifts you would love to get one day.

Speculation Nation / Spoiler vs Value
« on: December 16, 2011, 01:15:52 AM »
Alright, apologies in advance if my writing here is confusing, since I had to write this over again since my computer rebooted on me while I was writing it  :puck:

Anyways...Here's a question for all of you, its not a realistic one or meant to be taken seriously, more of a "What if" scenario.

Lets say someone who knew the rest of the story of Berserk all the way to the end of the series was to allow you to know the remaining plot, it would be by the word of mouth, but unfortunately no imagery or in depth subtext would be given, just all of the main stuff.

Would you accept despite the spoilers, or would you rather keep the surprise, and enjoy the story through the great quality of the illustrations and text? One answer may let you know the story immediately while the other is still the regular long waits we have between volumes.

I guess this ends up being a question if the quality is what you have priority for, or if what you have interest in, is just the story itself, regardless of how its told.

Speculation Nation / Griffith for the greater good?
« on: December 14, 2011, 11:25:32 PM »
If this topic has already been done before, then I apologize, I'm simply curious over the opinions here over this speculation.

Now of course, we all (or at least the vast majority I assume) associate Guts as the protagonist, and Griffith as a main villain, but we got to keep in mind this is from the perspective of a reader. In the context of their own world, can Griffith be the one with a greater cause?

Guts motivations are purely personal, (at least from what I can see), Griffith of course has the personal motivation to have his own kingdom, but what would be your reaction if Griffith did turn out to be the messiah people view him as? I have doubts of course since he is part of God Hand, but his goals seem to be of more importance to him then his role as a figure of God Hand.

Based off that Lost chapter, (though from my understand, it's non canon now), has things just been planned up for Griffith to simply rule a kingdom, and possibly if he had the intention, create a sort of Utopia? Again, this is just pure speculation, so I apologize in advance if I have made some mistakes.

Shootin' the Breeze / New around here.

Hello all members of

I'm a decent nice, and gentle guy joining here simply because Berserk is my favorite piece of fiction ever created. I also have lurked a little before joining to get a sense of the community and it seems quite appealing to me.  :iva:

A little bit about me...Well, Im a young Canadian male, with hopes to become an author and illustrator, so through out most of my years, I have practiced writing and drawing. I also enjoy video games, (mostly fighters, but Im open to all genres), music, philosophy, all sorts of things.

I look forward to getting to know some of you better, and be part of this community.
