Alternative source:

Supposedly the plot is inspired by not only Knightfall but No Man's Land and The Dark Knight Returns, which makes it a lot more promising when you look at it that way. I've pretty much talked myself into it based on the idea of it being Rocky III for Batman. So, think Ra's al Creed will come back to train Batty for the big rematch with Clubber Bane?

"When you fought me you had the eye of the bat!"

"I still do, but now I really can't see out of it."

lol a Rocky III comparision is quite nice, but where will Catwoman fit in then?

It certainly didn't inspire horror or shock. My reaction was more like: "....Okay? What?"

It's largely the fault of the sound quality on this shitty handcam, but I'm not quite sure what to make of Hardy's accent. Is he supposed to sound like an evil British robot? If so, he nailed it.

Well...truth be told, the only voice Bane has had untill now was a stereotypical Luchador voice, so which of the two would you prefer? I know neither is the best option but Im sure it could be worse...

Well I remember alot of people were skeptical about Heath Ledger as the Joker before the Dark Knight was released, and look how that turned out, so...despite the things we might worry about for the Dark knight rises, I wont give any opinion on what we have seen thus far untill we see the full film with all of the context.

Berserk Miscellaneous / Berserk related gifts
« on: December 19, 2011, 01:14:37 AM »
Since Christmas is nearby, what best Berserk gift have you ever given or received? Was there anything you made yourself, or tracked down to buy?

A friend of mine this holiday season, just bought me 16 volumes, he's got alot of money of course, and I'm just amazed, I will get him a gift back of course but the gift is unrelated.

I've bought two volumes for a local friend during a convention once, and I'm currently making a Beherit necklace for one of my relatives. *note the top gold part for the rope has been finished and I've improved the look just a tad bit, but I haven't taken a photo of it yet, so this is a bit of a beta picture*

Anyhow, let's hear about some Berserk gifts,  :iva: if you haven't gotten any, or never got the chance to get any for anyone, then speak about any gifts you would love to get one day.

Except for that part of Casca being raped, with the words saying she "wants to be abused." Kinda not cool.

Yeah true enough  :carcus:

Fine choice in that Manson cover, Leith. That is one of the truly spooky songs set to scenes from the eclipse. I happened upon that song once myself and it hung with me.

Thank you, I felt it matches it very well, and that video is quite fantastic.  :guts:

I'd do the same for any series.

Dune being THE prime example.

Aye, same for me with Shenmue, 10 or so years, and no sequel to the cliffhanger in Shenmue 2, so I would settle with spoilers to it.

I would take the spoilers if Miura died, and only if (when) he dies (and it's not complete).

That brings up an interesting point, though I don't like the topic of Miura's death, ( I have faith in him, and Japanese life expectency is great ), but good point non the less, I'm sure I would settle with the spoilers too if Berserk was never to be completed.

Alright, apologies in advance if my writing here is confusing, since I had to write this over again since my computer rebooted on me while I was writing it  :puck:

Anyways...Here's a question for all of you, its not a realistic one or meant to be taken seriously, more of a "What if" scenario.

Lets say someone who knew the rest of the story of Berserk all the way to the end of the series was to allow you to know the remaining plot, it would be by the word of mouth, but unfortunately no imagery or in depth subtext would be given, just all of the main stuff.

Would you accept despite the spoilers, or would you rather keep the surprise, and enjoy the story through the great quality of the illustrations and text? One answer may let you know the story immediately while the other is still the regular long waits we have between volumes.

I guess this ends up being a question if the quality is what you have priority for, or if what you have interest in, is just the story itself, regardless of how its told.

I saw it because I don't care so it's not going to affect my enjoyment of the film, and while the substance of it wasn't anything special, what I really appreciate from everyone is all the worthless audio visual analysis of the super shit quality cam-recorded leak. I mean, I watched it, but I still wouldn't say I've seen it, so there's really no point in talking about it from a technical standpoint.

Anyway, it looks like a spectacular stunt from a typical action movie except it has Bane in the middle of it, which is what a lot of the action of the previous two movies was like (including the proverbial Joker bank heist), so I'm not sure what people we're expecting that they'd be so disappointed. I mean, were they supposed to deal with something crucial to the film, that would be as compelling as actually watching it, in a five minute preview? That would be kind of insane, but I guess people really thought it was going to be Bane breaking Batman's back after TDK or something. Then again, some people still think Two-Face is alive.

I don't know, maybe it's because I'm not expecting too much from this movie, except to hopefully be pleasantly surprised.

It's as if, you were reading my mind as you posted this message, I can't say it better myself, agreed 100 percent.  :badbone:

No waiii :magni:. I hope not >_>'

I read about Bane's voice being 'goofy' ... I'd imagine a muffled voice through the mask, hope it doesn't sound like Darth Vader. Is Bane's character supposed to have a specific accent?

The only voice I can remember for Bane in any adaption was his Animated series voice, appearence in Arkham Asylum, and in Arkham City. The Animated series voice was pretty much like a luchador lol

Well right now I'm enjoying some Skyrim, amazing game, I made my character to resemble Griffith  :griffnotevil: Also play a little of Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, its alright, but Street Fighter will always be my fighter of choice.

It already came out, but during the holidays, I will definitely try to get Batman Arkham City, or Skyward Sword, both look great.

Hmm out of the games not released yet though...I'm interested for Street Fighter X Tekken and Asura's Wrath. I'm willing to give Final Fantasy 13-2 a chance, but...I'm not impressed enough so far to really care beyond a simple "Looks okay" and it's funny since I'm someone who actually LIKED Final Fantasy 13.

Welcome to SKNET!  No better place for berserk-anything.  You should post some of your art in the creation station, would like to see your work.

Hihi, welcome.

Agreed with Aphasia, would be nice to see your art work!

Hey thank you  :serpico: Hmm, alright, funny thing as an Artist I dont own a scanner currently ,(had one but it busted), so I can put some art up I suppose, but it will be just camera quality.  :farnese:

Yo, welcome aboard and enjoy your stay ^_^. What kind of fighting games are you into?

Thank you, I mostly play Street Fighter, but I do enjoy Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 (to an extent), and Tekken though to be fair, Im terrible at Tekken.

Maybe the movie will be better if Christian Bale dies before the movie is released. :troll:

Ha, Im not sure if this is your intention but to wish for the death of someone, is just really bad haha, just a joke Im sure.

Either way, Im sure the trillogy wont feel the same if it went like
Batman begins = *rough voice* IM BATMAN GURRGHHH
The Dark Knight = *rough voice* DON'T DO IT HARVEY GURRGGHHH
The Dark Knight Rises = *normal voice* Why, hello there Bane, you sure have alot of muscles, you shall make a worthy adversary  :iva:

As a fan of comic book heroes, especially Batman (90's animated series takes the crown for best animated super hero show), I anticipate this film very much, ESPECIALLY because my favorite villain Bane will be in it.

I trust Nolan will potray Bane accurately, as I get quite annoyed of the generic muscle bound idiot archetype writers tend to give Bane, when in reality, he's a freaking genius. I am a little concerned of what the reception to the film may be considering, the Dark Knight was great, a modern classic, though overrated because of the press it got for Heath Ledger's death, when things like that happen for the first sequel, it just tends to get a certain reputation.

Kinda like with the original Star Wars trilogy, many consider Empire strikes back the best, but still enjoy Return of the Jedi, but with the generation of today, full of nitpicks over every last inch of anything, I wonder what the general reactions will be.

Speculation Nation / Re: Griffith for the greater good?

Ahh okie dokie, thanks Walter, I speculated that this topic must have been done before but I didn't find a thread, so I thought I might as well.

Hmm, you got a very valid point about the humanity heroes thing, it would be a little strange to see characters who have given up humanity, doing something that could benefit others, in any human way.

Hmm, well it is too early to accurately speculate Griffith's deep motivations, Im a little impatient, deep themes presented in stories like Berserk will probably get everyone's head thinking, you would know Im sure since you have so much knowledge over this masterpiece.

Aye, understood, its an episode  :farnese: Im too used to the term chapter being applied to a book of any sort.

Speculation Nation / Re: Griffith for the greater good?

Hahaha love the wanted poster, great work  :ubik:

Interesting replies, it's true that by this point, Guts motivations aren't purely personal but I think we both understand that I mean his pure drive, if Casca and Griffith were dead, I cant imagine what drive Guts would have to continue living, Griffith is his goal to reach and kill, while Casca he feels obligated to protect (rightfully so).

Hmm true, the idea of Griffith being a deceptive figure is warrented based on his characteristics or behaviour before, but maybe it can't really be deception if as you said, the people dont want to be saved, atleast subconsciously.

It would be rather interesting to see how the world would function after becoming some form of a Utopia, considering the result regardless of what it may seem, would end up being bad, just the process of what would seem to be a perfect world, ending up going wrong, with Guts as the true hero, sounds like a volume I would definately buy in a heart beat (well that can go for all volumes I guess  :troll: )

Speculation Nation / Griffith for the greater good?
« on: December 14, 2011, 11:25:32 PM »
If this topic has already been done before, then I apologize, I'm simply curious over the opinions here over this speculation.

Now of course, we all (or at least the vast majority I assume) associate Guts as the protagonist, and Griffith as a main villain, but we got to keep in mind this is from the perspective of a reader. In the context of their own world, can Griffith be the one with a greater cause?

Guts motivations are purely personal, (at least from what I can see), Griffith of course has the personal motivation to have his own kingdom, but what would be your reaction if Griffith did turn out to be the messiah people view him as? I have doubts of course since he is part of God Hand, but his goals seem to be of more importance to him then his role as a figure of God Hand.

Based off that Lost chapter, (though from my understand, it's non canon now), has things just been planned up for Griffith to simply rule a kingdom, and possibly if he had the intention, create a sort of Utopia? Again, this is just pure speculation, so I apologize in advance if I have made some mistakes.
