Manga Mausoleum / Re: Dark Horse Releases
« on: August 28, 2006, 02:26:58 PM »
I also hate the fact that the boxes appear on the artwork  I just remember being scared that they were going to edit out the original sfx and add new ones or something like that. It's still horrible how it is, I just meant that maybe I can get used to it now. DH's inconsistency is really annoying but what can we do, right an angry letter?

Volumes 14-22/23 is probably my favorite part of Berserk.  I am really hyped for the American releases and am glad Dark Horse quickened the pace a bit.
Really, Volume 14-roughly 23 is your favorite part. Isn't that the Lost Children Arc. Not that theres anything wrong with that, I just can't believe it's your FAV section of berserk. And the new sfx do bother me a little bit, but I'm sure it's because I'm not used to them, After a couple of volumes it will be fine I think, as long as it stays off the artwork. Overall though DH is kinda putting me on the edge of my seat, especially after that "Friend" came on to the boards and told everyone their translating process, that didn't help.

Movies, TV, Books & Music / Re: What are you reading?

I've read crime and punishment and notes from the underground by fyoder Dostoevsky and I would read pretty much anything by him.  Also anything by William Blake and I really enjoy, as sick as it may be, Brett Eastin Ellis novels, American Psycho in particular.  Also Hunter S. Thompson (rest in peace) has written the only books where I actually laughed out loud after reading. Other than that just things that I read when I was a younger, but still love, LOTR and stuff. O yea Conrad is also great as is Kurt Vonnegut.

Malkovich is Spike Jonze.
Michel Gondry's only film before Eternal Sunshine is Human Nature. And I don't think Kauffman had anything to do with Sleep.
Well Kauffmen wrote Being John Malkovich even though spike jonze directed and he also wrote Eternal Sunshine and Humane Nature. Yea he didn't have anything to do with Science of SLeep but people seemed to be grouping those guys together so I was just saying I'm a fan, if you catch my drift.

The trailer does look pretty cool.  I grew up with the Turtles so it would be a little guitly pleasure of mine to go to the movies to see it with some of my guy friends.  BUt thinking about it, I know I watched ninja turtles growing up, like on saturday mornings, but I'm 19 and I don't even think it's on tv anymore.  So who is this movie really aiming at, I'm sure I'll have fun, but my brother whose 12 couldn't even tell you their names. ...anyone kinda see what I'm getting at.

Hell, even Through a Scanner Darkly looks a little retro to me :guts:
Yeah, The Fountain has been in production hell for YEARS, thanks to Pitt's betrayal.  Slightly Green can tell you the full scoop, if he ever shows up.  Oh, and Pitt turned Aronofsky down so he could do TROY :ganishka:
I forgot about A Scanner Darkly until it was out of theaters already. Did anyone see it and what did they think? And to be honest I'm glad brad pitt left that production, it too bad it messed with the production, but I would rather not have him in it.  And The Science of sleep looks really great too. I have the other movies he's worked on, Being John Malkovich and Eternal Sunshine, which are both great.

This sounds really cool. I'm a huge FM fan and I actually can't believe I haven't read this before.  I have lots of his old Dark Knight comics + Sin City. SO yea this looks interesting.

I've been pondering the thought of buying the anime and/or the manga for a while but I've heard such mixed reviews on it that I keep putting it off.  I'm sure I'll only get more mixed reviews by asking again if it's worth getting.  I do enjoy the great anime classics like Akira and Mononoke but i also love the B-anime stuff as I call them like Biohunter, Urotsukidoji, Twilight of the dark master, Wicked city, even Demon city sinjoku which I laugh my ass off everytime.  This might be better suited for a different thread but I'm specifically wondering aboot Bastered! So can anyone convince me.  I'm really just looking for an excuse to buy it. :guts:

Movies, TV, Books & Music / Re: PULSE...

Yea Pulse was horrible. It was laughable actually.  One of the dumbest movies I've ever seen. I only went cause some stupid friend dragged me with him.  On the plus side I did get in free so it's not like I wasted my money, just my time.  It's actually incredibly easy to sneak into theaters.

What do you mean the title is "a bit poor".  It's actually a tad genius. A campy title for a campy movie.  I saw it opening night and i must say it was the most fun I've ever had in a theater.  Everyone was laughing and cheering everytime Jackson killed a snake whether it be with a speargun or hairspray flame thrower.  And of course everyone sang along with Jackson's most memorable line.

Lol so sorry.  Yea I'm soo looking forward to those.  And their coming out soon! Darren Aronofsky made Pi and Requiem for a Dream and HOLLL HELLL is he making a Lone Wolf and Cub Movie????

YESSS he is. I'm a huge fan of the old ones.  I own all six of the lone wolf and cub movies.  This one is due for 2008.  Well for now I can at least see the new Scorsese film + DePalmas new one.  They both look great.

Is anyone as excited as I am about the new Tarantino+Rodriguez movie coming out 2007. Grindhouse
also sin city 2, hostel 2, killshot, and hellride are all movies connected with them one way or another and they all look awsome.  Also David Lynch's new movie Inland Empire is supposed to be released at the end of the year.  And the new Coen Bros. new movie, No Country for Old Men, sounds great. So anyone else excited bout these or are fans of these guys

Thanks for the info guys as well as the reccomended sights for merchandise.

Yea so about that poster question.  Has anyone heard of anything.  I already plan to collect the statues and figures to put on my 'Berserk shelf' (I have one for Rurouni Kenshin, Lord of the Rings ect) and I would love to put berserk posters on my walls. My room is already covered with Kill Bill, Sin City, Pulp FIction, Matrix, and a few other comic book posters.  But Berserk is king to me so u know.

So yea if you can't tell I'm a geek when it comes to this stuff.

Thanks for the welcoming! Yea it's a cool vid. For the record I didn't make it in case anyone was giving me credit.  But yea the Dark Tranquility one is great too.   Plus theres also one of the lost episode with music thats really good. It would be even better if they did voice overs for the two characters, although that would be hard especially because it's like the voice of all evil that controls destiny as we know it.

Hey, I'm new here but I'm really cool, I hate Twilight and I'm totally confident in the fact that my first post will never come back to haunt me years from now. No member will ever use this as a weapon against me HAHAAHAHAHA!

Oh and check this out!
