Plenty of clunk in this one but the narrative thrust was pretty good, felt more like an episode with a point to it than some of the previous ones. The color picture is lovely. I'm really not getting much vitality in the way they draw Guts though.

This episode is so sweet. Page after page of the children playing together, Casca being genuinely at peace, and a legitimate smile from Guts. It's one of the most pretty looking episodes of Berserk as well, in my opinion, and it's a real emblematic one to end on: tender, warm, and nuanced. It...

For all the glory the series has earned, I still feel like the series is at its peak - that the best was yet to come. If it's succeeded, that vision could still be the case, but it's a tragic loss to see him go so young and so early. Rest in peace Miura. Very few have created something so rich...
