Not bad for $300.

Yeah, the director is already getting the District 9 deal: $30 million budget to do whatever he wants, with Sam Raimi producing.

Fuck that kid! Also... reinstalling! Or maybe rebuying from Steam since I may have lost it over time and it's pretty cheap right now! :guts:

The only episode I clearly remember is one which Mega Man goes to the future and meets Mega Man X. Back then I thought that one was pretty cool. :ganishka:

Got to watch this Phantom Menance review. It's really long (seven parts) but totally worth it, its really funny.

I have to second this. I was skeptical (7 parts?!), but watched it all.

I honestly had no idea how much I hated George Lucas until I watched this. I knew it sucked, and how much of a bad taste it left in my mouth. But this guy pinpoints exactly went wrong with each segment of this train wreck. Around parts 5 and 6, when he's explaining why character motivation is significant to lightsaber battles having an impact, I began to feel physically pained, and honestly bad for Lucas.

In part 6, he lays this bombshell of a quote on us, straight from Lucas in the 70s:
"Special effects are just a tool, a means of telling a story. People have the tendency to confuse them as an end to themselves. But, a special effect without a story is a pretty boring thing."
This really says it all to me. It shows how deluded he eventually became, that he couldn't even adhere to his own sage advice.

Yeah that was pretty good. Nothing new though, and the guy could probably outdo himself with the sequels considering how bad they were as well.

I think focusing on Phantom Menace was a good choice. It was a different phenomenon because no one saw the train wreck coming. With the other movies, it was nearly a foregone conclusion that they would suck. There's something really heart-wrenching to me to see how far Lucas fell, even though this video review is done with a comedic tone.

Sure, the first one hit the hardest because of the expectations it had built, but I've always felt the other two were equally as bad if not worse. Not saying doing a review of Phantom Menace was a bad idea, but I'd like to see what he'd have to say about the sequels as well.

Of the three it's probably the best and most watchable movie, but talk about damning something with faint praise; it's also the one that officially started the destruction of the Star Wars mythology, which, considering it's extent already and vast potential, is a pretty impressive feat of fail. Still, was only the beginning of the end, it didn't hit me hardest because there was still hope despite the obvious trepidation going forward, because a winning second entry could have been the kind of payoff that validated the first and pulled the series out of its tailspin for a triumphant rise back to the top, then... Attack of the Clones happened. Subjectively, maybe the worst movie of my life. Whatever an affirmation of life is, this was the opposite, not to mention it was the meat in a shit sandwich, and worse, when it was over (the best part), you knew it wasn't even really over yet. It was the true nadir, and it certainly changed the way I thought of the first movie, because suddenly I was nostalgic for even the "good old days" of The Phantom Menace; of the event that Episode I was and the positive hype and excitement that surrounded it going in and even watching it the first time, positive feelings that still permeate my memory of it in hindsight. The last time that was the case for Star Wars, before it was a grudging childhood death march to the theater.

Not to overstate it or anything. =)
