Berserk manga sales summary

In this Article We have information that the number of manga sales as many as 70 million copies have been sold worldwide.
Wow that's a 2x leap over where it was just 10 years ago, the last time we heard these numbers (thank you @Aazealh ). To put them in perspective, here they are with % increases:

Japan:
2015: 27 million
2025: 40 million
= 48% increase

International:
2015: 8 million
2025: 30 million
= 275% increase

If you look back 10 years prior to 2015, the increase isn't nearly as notable.

Japan:
2005: 20 million
2015: 27 million
= 25% increase

International:
2006: 4 million (2006 is the closest to a decade with international numbers)
2015: 8 million
= 100% increase

I only wish we had annual data so we could actually track when the spike occurred, but I think we all know...

Weirdly enough, I had always thought Berserk resonated more with those outside Japan than those within it. I’m not exactly sure why I thought this, but maybe it had to do something with Berserk’s largely medieval European-based setting mixed with an old interview.
Those numbers showed me that I am very much wrong in thinking this.

Still, the international market is catching up!

Here's the page announcing the 70 million units sold, for the record. From YA #16 of 2025.

70 million volumes sold worldwide, among which 30 million were sold overseas. The English edition leads with 9 million copies, followed by the French edition with 8 million and the Italian one with 5 million.

Dark Horse has announced today, February 27th, that they've sold over 10 million volumes of Berserk.

As has been mentioned on the prior page, there are two significant milestones worth noting: The Dark Horse deluxe editions began releasing in early 2019, and Kentarou Miura died in 2021. These both clearly contributed to more than doubling the sales between 2018 (1.5m) and 2022 (3.5m). Then they somehow nearly tripled in the ensuing 3 years (3.5m -> 10m).

1/3 of all sales outside of Japan is from DH. I would like to see it compared to other publishers around the world, but absolutely DH is at the top

You only have to look three posts up to see how many copies Glénat and Panini had sold last year.
