Yes, it's crowdfunded, with different tiers and all.
All the more expected that the rights holders would act, then. I don't really follow social network chatter but they must have been pretty brazen to push Hakusensha to release a statement.

To me it's like they basically tried to not advertise the project as fan made to gather as many fans as possible. I swear, under everything they post you can find hundreds of comments calling this an official anime. Now, will the people at Studio Eclypse acknowledge what's happening and clear everything up, or will they just stop the production? I don't know, but being called out like this is not something you can easily dismiss.I don't really follow social network chatter but they must have been pretty brazen to push Hakusensha to release a statement.
I've seen other comments similar to the one on the top elsewhere, so I guess it's true, though I don't know the VA's name. There was some discussion about the state of the project on a YouTube video I was watching about that Hakusensha Twitter post. See the image posted below.

I don't use social media, so I cannot verify the validity of what is being said, but I see no reason to doubt it. It seems like the project was already dead in the water before Hakusensha even said anything.

The VA for Guts went on a full 20+ minute breakdown, apparently the money from the patreon was supposed to go towards hiring people, they had atleast 100 people funding it and they had a $280 tier that two people bought. But as he explained it was only him and someone else that continued to work on it, so nobody knows where that money went. The director would keep him and a few others in the dark about storyboards so when he was given something to do it would basically be out of nowhere which would lead to a lot of problems for him and others, hence why the trailer itself was delayed. There was some discussion about the state of the project on a YouTube video I was watching about that Hakusensha Twitter post. It’s weird that he says it was only him and someone else making for the project when it was me and a bunch of other people working on the music. So definitely more than just 2. Also I don’t think that Patreon money went towards getting any of us on since I know I didn’t get paid. The VA for Guts went on a full 20+ minute breakdown, apparently the money from the patreon was supposed to go towards hiring people, they had atleast 100 people funding it and they had a $280 tier that two people bought. You could say all of this was pretty much a pyramid scheme and he's urging the director to take down the patreon before more problems arise.
The people at Studio Taka have decided to put a stop to their project after what happened with Studio Eclypse.
That's a shame. I wasn't following their process too closely or anything, but it's a real pity that a far more legitimate fan project is being scrapped (possibly) because of these grifters. The people at Studio Taka have decided to put a stop to their project after what happened with Studio Eclypse.
I gave up believing Studio Taka's motion comic would get anywhere near finishing The Black Swordsman Arc around a year and a half ago due to the years-long waits between episodes, but this still disappoints me. Most Berserk fan projects don't satisfy me due to them either being amateur or missing the point. However, the motion comic was one of the few that pleased me to the point that I followed its progress. I would like to think that it is due to the Hakusensha situation that they canceled the project, but as others have said, they have been struggling with it for years. It's very possible that they're using Hakusencha as an excuse to put an end to a project that they lost their drive to finish. Still, I'm going to miss it.The people at Studio Taka have decided to put a stop to their project after what happened with Studio Eclypse.
Having worked with some of their team for voice actor work on Redux, I can say they were all passionate and in good faith. The ambition and standards for their motion comic were always quite high. It's an achievement what they were able to pull off with volunteer efforts. That's a shame. This is a great thread exposing what happened with this. Sounds like greedy, dishonest scumbags at the top.Idk if you already read it, but anyway. A guy from the AoT fandom called @thelogicknight on Twitter made a tread explaining that Berserk’s anime by Studio Eclypse always be a Ponzi scam. The guy showcase a lot of screenshots of the former Studio Eclypse discord (when they called themselves “Shingeki no Kyoyin no Requiem”), exposing a bad direction on the project.
The big deal is a screenshot to a head member explaining many things about copyright laws and that they should rebrand the studio as “Eclypse”, “starts again” and make a side project to gain profit via patreon destined to the production of AoT Requiem anime adaptation. He used as a example of this scheme a fan animation of Chainsaw Man, but they later posted a poll about many future productions, and well, Berserk Black Swordsman Arc won. They intended don’t receive any donations or any profit directly from the AoT project, so they started that “side Berserk project” for this.
It seems like they pretty much scammed people for no reason. They could’ve just been a more honest Screen Culture but for Anime and I don’t people would be as upset.Idk if you already read it, but anyway.
