Kingdom Hearts III coming to xbox one.... very... interesting. I guess there's a first time for everything?
I've read a few things about fans being OUTRAGED over this. Why is this the case? Kingdom Hearts has been on platforms other than Sony's before... What's the surprise?

What I found interesting was the inclusion of Princess and Toad in multiplayer, along with Mario and Luigi. Same character lineup as SMB 2 :daiba:

Because Xbone is the dudebro casual system, but seriously, KH feels personally as like the last bastion from a bygone era to me. It's the last big Japanese developed game I ever thought would find its way onto Xbox. I felt the same way about Metal Gear and Final Fantasy. I know, some games have become disastrously expensive to make, console exclusives are going away, etc. If anything Nintendo deserved the title. The story of KH will be lost on pure Microsoft enthusiasts.

I can't speak to Dark Souls, I was referring more to games from the sacred sixth generation of consoles.

I- I- I-.... I'm speechless.

While I'm ecstatic that we are getting Megaman in a Smash Brothers game as I have been a fan for a long time, The Wii fitness trainer is an interesting choice. I don't mind it though; I like unique and creative characters so I'm curious to see what they do with her.

Eh, it's funny enough I guess. No worse than the Game & Watch dude as far as wacky characters go.

Mega Man looks extremely fun to play and the look/feel perfectly captures the NES era Mega Man, which is great. This isn't no bad boxart Mega Man...

Villager from Animal Crossing also looks really fun and I wanted him in Brawl. Wii Fitness Trainer... well, like Aaz said, she's a goofy addition similar to ROB and Game and Watch, which both ended up being pretty fun to play and I think she looks like similar in those regards. Still a weird choice as an E3 level reveal... last time they revealed Zero Suit Samus, Wario, Pit, and Snake as a surprise.

Overall for Nintendo I felt pretty underwhelmed outside of Xenoblade 2(or whatever its title is) and Smash Bros.

I enjoyed the Kingdom Hearts series as much as the next guy, but let's not kid ourselves here - while enjoyable, the story is about as deep as a high school junior's semester-long creative writing project about coming-of-age and moral dichotomies. Even that's a stretch, haha. Also, Tetsuya Nomura can go eat an entire bag of honey BBQ dicks for what he's done with character design. In an interview he even said that his visual inspiration for Sora was merely merging the designs for Squall and Cloud. I always thought it was interesting that KH and FF have become the same game in terms of overall original character design. I always preferred Amano's whimsical take.

Due to the massive influx of traffic to Xbox's site, I'm just going to post these pics:

Looks like Microsoft is backpedaling like a motherfucker in the wake of fan rage. Good thing, considering how badly they shot themselves in the foot with the XBONE. Still, though, $499 is a high price tag compared to PS4's $399.

A $500.00 dollar console doesn't seem to be a problem with me. Simply with Microsoft smarting up I will surely by both now. I own so much on Xbox live, I really should stick with Microsoft so I can utilize such. The PS4 is a god send compared to the PS3's 599.99 price. Maybe I'm not the only one out there considering now to get both consoles.

Another thing, to me it seems Microsoft had no idea where Sony was going to target the PS4's price. Maybe Sony simply wanted to win back its fan base by low balling the price considerably.

The damage is already done though. Do you think they truly responded to fans criticisms or just did it because of their shitty amount of preorders??

Also this is pretty good:

Microsoft executive Don Mattrick published a missive on the official Xbox site today that walks back many of the restrictions that the Xbox One was going to place on used game disc sales and offline play. “We’ve listened to your feedback and made changes” is the stated message. “Fine, you can unplug your goddamn internet and keep your precious GameStop trade-ins, you braying pack of Luddite ingrates” is the implicit message.

The statement “We believe in the benefits of a connected, digital future,” Mattrick writes in his opening paragraph, reflecting wistfully on the utopia-in-the-cloud that Xbox One might have ushered in if it weren’t for those meddling kids. He continues, “Since unveiling our plans for Xbox One, my [visionary] team and I have heard directly from many of you [backward-thinking troglodytes], read your [cretinous] comments and listened to your feedback [at least when we could hear you over the sound of your butter churns and tinfoil hats].”

I certainly don't believe it was just fan outcry. There's been unrest since around February when DRM was still just a rumor and then even more so after the Adam Orthy debacle. I think Sony's conference had a lot to do with the back pedal as well as overestimating their consumer's loyalty.

No argument here. But I don't like the way Microsoft was forcing the issue. The inevitable slide towards downloadable games becoming the norm has already begun. MS tried to sweep the rest of it away in too brisk a manner, and got called on it.
