Hey, I hear that game's pretty good.m said:The game I'm looking forward to the most is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I don't play as much as I used to, but I'll be definitely getting this game.

Wow, check out this video for Rockstar's upcoming game L.A. Noire. I had heard about this game before but wasn't sure if it was just going to be another Mafia 2 or something. Going by this I must admit I think it looks really great.
Griffith said:I'm in the opposite position, Ocarina of Time is actually why I probably won't be getting a 3DS now, at least any time soon. Looking at Walter's list of upcoming 3DS releases I realized it was the only one I was really interested in, and I've already played that game to death and back again. So, not exactly worth $400 to me to try it in 3D.

I just hope the game can live up to this trailer.

Fuck Kotaku. I can understand why you went in with a negative lens with a headline like that. I was led with a link from a friend that said: "watch this."Griffith said:I was impressed with the visuals and editing of the out of order/reverse narrative, but the slow motion, little girl, and piano music was all pretty hamfisted. You lose your dramatic point with me when you try to ram said point up my ass. Then again...
The Most Heartbreaking Zombie Video Game Trailer You’ll Ever See
That says it all, doesn't it?

I think that just says more about the poor writing abilities of people working on [video game] web sites. (Also the comments in that article, as always, are awful)Griffith said:That says it all, doesn't it?
Vampire_Hunter_Bob said:Not to derail, but I don't think we should just dismiss this game simply because it has zombies in it.

Aazealh said:And I don't think we should look forward to it just because it has zombies in it. Which is the only thing we know about the game from the trailer.
Griffith said:Which is an automatic red flag now, as far as I'm concerned. I feel like the genre has become a metaphor for itself; the next Dawn of the Dead remake should literally be about consumerism of zombie media, though I'm sure that's already been done in one of the 10,000 pieces of zombie fiction produced in the last, oh... five minutes. Somebody rescue me from the real life cultural zombie apocalypse before it eats my brain!
The inclusion of zombies wasn't what made me post it here. The trailer was well done and offers a pretty fresh directorial approach to a zombie game. I don't personally think that tone or approach will translate into the game, seeing as this is an "open world survival horror." But who knows? They've already got me interested in a title that I otherwise wouldn't have paid attention to, and that's a testament to the trailer's effectiveness.Aazealh said:And I don't think we should look forward to it just because it has zombies in it. I thought the emotion in it was warranted. The trailer is about parents trying to protect their daughter, who ultimately kills her dad, then is thrown from a window, and upon impact, regains her humanity for an instant before death. The color returns to her face and she sheds a tear. That's pretty cool, in my opinion.Griffith said:I don't know how much that alone biased me though, like I said it was technically impressive, but really melodramatic. Working more against it is that I'm less enthusiastic about the genre as Aaz at this point.
I know you're a connoisseur of the classics in the genre, but what recent zombie stuff have you consumed? Left 4 Dead games? The Walking Dead comic book? I think people generally write these things off, simply by their association with a genre that's become cluttered with other, lesser titles. But there's some amazing stuff still here, and still unexplored within the genre.Which is an automatic red flag now, as far as I'm concerned.
