Doesn't look too bad. Doesn't feel too much like a typical bond movie, which might be a good thing. Seems more like the tense situations the actual books imply. Angsty is more like it.

I hope it's a lot better than the two most recent ones starring Pierce Brosnan. I enjoyed the lead actor's performance in The Layer Cake, so I hope he does a good job in this, too. I forget, was Casino Royale the first Bond book that Flemming wrote? From what little is in the trailer it sounds like this might be Bond's first mission, right after he is promoted to a "double-O."

Is Bond supposed to look like Dr. Evil? Anyway, after the cool start (though needlessly in black in white, unlike even the first Bond movies), I didn't see much seperating this from the Fast and the Furious (remember, the last few Bonds movies didn't suck because of Pierce, it was the everything else). That being said, I'm not down on the new bond yet either. Has promise still.

I definitely agree. I certainly didn't mean to insinuate that I thought Brosnan had anything to do with the last few Bond movies sucking, because I think he did an excellent job playing the character.

And actually, this guy has a ways to go to earn it. Dench was more intimidating talking about him then he actually was. I think Aaz summed it up pretty well for me, the guy looks like a cheap Bond rival, the Russian version, not the man himself.

Would have helped had they actually done him up to look like the character at all. Like I said, the sexing up of the Bond character (look kids, now with blonde hair and blue eyes!) and making him edgy again (I guess by casting an ugly guy) kinda go against each other. The black and white part made the contrast with the Too James, Too Bond: London Drift half of the trailer even more glaring. Paul Walker might as well have been Bond in those scenes.

well this guy seems a bit more rough around the edges and rugged looking than Pierce, and much like the books, looks as if he'll portray Bond more like the reluctant agent he is, and not the debonaire character the movies would like us to believe.

In the books, he is a ladies man, but its his mysterious aura that does so more than his attitude.

Special aura and his rapist's wit, no doubt.

BTW, if that's the "real" James Bond, I can see why he's more suited to the written word rather than pictures. Probably should have stayed that way. And what's up with the guy making that fish face all the time, too? Seriously, was Clive Owen demanding a hundred million dollars to do the part or somerhing? Was he not ugly enough?

Im trying to find it, but I remember reading a review where I believe, Flemming himself stated that Brosnan was his favorite version of Bond because he represented everything bond, so well.

Im english and i have to say clive owen would have been alot better than daniel craig or whatever his name is... we can only hope theres an accident during filming and they have to reshoot the whole thing with clive.

I remember that as well, but I think he was commenting more so on Brosnan's range as an actor.

Granted, Goldeneye is a very accurate portrayal of Bond because of the personal implications led on by 006.

Part of me wishes Sean bean wasn't 006 because he would have made an awesome bond.

Movie looks awsome!!! By the way Casino Royale was the first Bond movie(but was made as a parody by woody alan) and this movie is actually based on the book Casino Royal, and this new guy seems better than most of the other Bonds anyways!

P.S.- Pierce Brosnan=BestBond ever!!, then Connery of course! GOLDENEYE Bitches!

I read that Clive Owen didn't want to be Bond-- that he was offered the part, but turned it down because he had more interesting acting options available to him. Can't say I necessarily blame him. I love Bond films, but as an actor they don't really require much from you-- they can't be very challenging or interesting to do. (Atleast, that's what Brosnan ended up saying).

I would have preferred Cive Owen as well, but I also enjoyed the new Bond's performance in "Layer Cake." He's a little rough around the edges, but perhaps that'll be part of his own charm. I dunno. I'll be there to see it. I'll pass more definitive judgement then. :)

Well didn't that guy break his teeth during a stunt already? And they had to stop filming so he'd learn how to drive a manual car too. Way to go. :SK:

My beloved Lakers blew game 6 and face elimination on the Suns home floor this Saturday... so, I'm taking it out on that ugly troll Daniel Craig. =)

Check out this awesome anti-Craig site Aaz discovered, I can't believe he hasn't posted it himself!

http://www.craignotbond.com/index.html

Q: How can a short, blond actor with the rough face of a professional boxer and a
penchant for playing villains, killers, cranks and cads pull off the role of a tall, dark,
handsome and suave secret agent?

A: He can't!

Needless to say, it's excellent. =)

As long as he does a good job of acting the job I don't really care about how he looks.

Casting doesn't matter as long as the person can act, huh? Then why don't they have Judi Dench play Bond? She was the best part of the trailer, anyway. :guts:

"BOND... I'M JAMES BOND! ACTING!"

They address that on the site too, smartypants. :troll:

Myth 4: Craig is a talented actor and this will allow him to play the part of Bond
despite the fact that he does not fit audiences’ expectations of a Bond actor.
– As
far as acting goes, Tom Hanks is a great actor; would you have him playing Bond?
How about recent Academy Award winner Phillip Seymour Hoffman? For that
matter, if EON thought the only requirement to play Bond was great acting chops,
why didn’t they hire Al Pacino, Marlon Brando or Robert DeNiro to play Bond? Why
not hire a fine Shakespearean actor like Olivier, Guinness or Richardson? Do you
really think acting ability is the only quality needed to play Bond? Of course not!

Anyway, yeah, this site is too much. I'm not even that down on the guy, but it's obviously fun to be. =)

That'd be interesting too.

If its a good movie I'll see it. If its Bourne Surpemecy meets Fast and the Furious I'll probably rent it at best.

Summary: Don't really care

I might have to see it, this whole thing is slowing making him my new favorite Bond. :carcus:

Of course Craig can't stand up to the classics. That's why "EON ... rebooted" the series. This is more like James Bond Jr. This NEW AGE Bond "comes to MI6 from the SAS. This makes him similar to many clichéd movie heroes trained as special forces soldiers like Stallone in ‘Rambo’ and Schwarzenegger in ‘Commando’."

YES!

Craig was really good in Layer Cake, and he demonstrates that he can be a leading man in that movie. That is hilarious about how he didnt know how to drive a manual car in real life though ha!

I think this movie is gonna be awesome personally. It goes more back to Bonds roots, what with exploring how he got his attitude towards women and everything. The newer Bond movies were enjoyable, but they were'nt really spy movies per se.....unless driving an invisible car through an ice palace is espionage.

It has potential and ill probably see it when it comes out in theatres unless some horrible news comes up like Bond has a sex change halfway through the film
