Question About Creating AMVs

What program is the best to use as far as not crashing goes? I've worked with Adobe Premiere but is there something better? Only because I'm sure loading up the huge 100 MB AVi files to get clips from would crash most programs. Unless there's another program that can be used to disect clips from each episode?

I've never made one, but i've heard virtual dub mentioned several times. That's about all the help i can offer, i'm not really sure where to get it.

adobe premiere 6.0 works really well, probably because adobe made it. ::)

Viertual dub is a great thing for converting video and audio, but definitely not editing. I have yet to find a good, free editing program, so I just make a long list of clips and use TMPGEnc to splice in the audio, and merge the files together. As a bonus, they are VCD compliant.
