Es ist einsam im Nebel zu wandern...
Hi i m the rookie here! ??? ??? ???
I don t know if it is important or just shit:but in the manga in vol.3  god hand appears surrounded by very strange area(as usual)but this one  looks pretty similar to a finalfantasyVII scene(ancient temple before u meet sepiroth and get the black materia).
So, did anyone else recognize this similarity to the ancient temple of FF VII.
If yes what is the meaning by that and for what does this world stand for? ??? ??? ???

If we do not find them soon, we shall be of no use
Meaning?? The God Hand's wierd dimension, or hell, is meant to scare the living crap out of you. And I think it does its job well. ;D

I do not remember that scene in FF7 you mentioned, but I am sure you are right. But keep in mind that Volume 3 of Berserk was published years before FF7 was even conceived ;)

Actually, Miura was inpired by the artworks of Maurits Cornelis Escher, a famous Dutch artist of the XX century.

Have a look here:

I'd reckon those boys at Square have also seen the works of Escher, since his works are widely known and distributed. It looks like the old third variable has solved yet another correlative mystery.

"This is it. It's over."
but this one  looks pretty similar to a finalfantasyVII scene
We had that similarity thing between berserk and ff7 earlier at BSOM. My thought was that both - the dragonslayer and cloud's sword in ff7 - are too big to lift.
Although some people wouldn't belíeve that even Miura has got some inspiration sources -, it's been proven several times that certain similarities exist.
(f.E. Hellraiser, 'though I couldn't believe it as I first heard of that... until i got to see some pics... gosh.    :p)

however my guess is that miura was inspired by Escher in the "multidimensional room case",  just as Mist mentioned above... There are even more similarities between Escher's work and berserk.

I never really saw the discussion on bsom, but I think FF7 came out after berserk. Besides, FF7 had a lot of things borrowed from other mangas too, like battle angel alita.

Even Miura had to fucking use the million stairs leading to nowhere painting. Sigh. I must have seen that fucking drawing quoted damn well near everywhere. If Miura was going to pick a cliche to quote I would have preferred that dogs playing poker painting. Now that was awesome. I do however think the God Hand Dimension looked a lot more interesting in the later volumes than it did the first time.

It is tough but somebody had to say that!
