Yes, you're definitely improving. :guts:

I'd suggest adding shadows to give it more depth but since its Griffith we're talking about here, who needs shadows :griff:

I like it. Good color choice. You did a pretty good job on the metal too. I agree with CnC's shadow coment, but I also like the light and cool feeling is has, so don't go too overboard if you deide to rework it..

Hey spikey.

overall, good work :serpico:.

Some minor things:
technical:
there are some "fuzzy edges" here and there. On the first pic is the top of the ears. On the second pic its the points of the armor. I'd use a harder brush when you lay down your initial colors. Use a softer one for lighting and skin tones, shading, etc.

aesthetic:
on the first one the background isn't bad, it is a bit distracting. and the second.... OMG! Guts is on fire! put him out! puthimout!!! hehe.
Background's nicer on the second one. I'd work a bit more on skin tones, as it looks too much like you just used the burn tool to shade him.

Keep on postin'.

On Cnc's skintone coment, I've found it helps to make the shadows lightly redder. It may sound strange, but it adss a lot of intensity to the piece. Look at some of Proj's stuff, that's what I mean.

It doesnt sound strange at all. skin is a relatively translucent surface which can reveal blood at points where light meets shadow. Not to mention there are alot more shades of color on the face than "pink". It all depends on light.

that sky on the Guts+casca page isn't working. Plus you've brought back those pinkish reflections on the armor... what is that?

The eclipse/Pippin page looks ok. Its kind of dark (but I guess thats the scene). You might want to work on the skin tones a bit, plus the armor looks too bright on pippin's first panel.
I like the skin tones on Casca on the first panel of your second page.

Yeah the second page I've been struggling with the background/sky on how or what(if its necessary)to put there, but I am proud how caska's skin turned out in the top panel.

I feel like the sky's colors need to melt together a bit more. As it is, they seem to have too sharp a divide.

If I were you, I'd add more shadows in the eclipse panel. There's too much contrast between the skin and the background. Thats one of the creepier parts in the manga, all the characters you get attatched to are slaughtered. Pippin especially freaked me out.

Thanx for comments!

The top one I'm still working on(I'm still having ideas on the background) The second is a work in progress thats taking awhile to work on. Proj I lked your colors used on Serpico's formal wear I really had to use it on this coloring. :serpico:

I still find the background in the first one unnecessarily distracting. The second's coming along nicely. Don't forget lighting.

Better version of the second one:

Yeah, the first ones background is still bugging me, I'll try suggestions on what may help w/ the first one... :judo:

I like it. The contrast between how Guts and Serpico are colored may be a bit much for me though. Still a nicely colored spread.

Keep up the good work, Spikey.

I found some stuff sitting around in my colors folder, enjoy!

both are pretty well done.

I think you need to pay attention to your light source(s) they seem too uniformly lit to me.
I like the casca one.
good work

One suggestion I'd make is to start with a darker color for everything and then color the highlights. Right now everything is very bright, especially the armor. It's ok in some scenes, but it's good to have a ton of contrast on armor.

Yeah thats a big thing of mine though is I don't add too much contrast when it needs it & I still need to work on the light sources on some of these. :troll:(I just got up so I'm still a little out of it right now....) :serpico:

notice how subduing the background helped the picture a lot? much, much better. The casca panel really stands out as much better.
For some realon it looks like she's been inhaling smoke tho, as the areas around her nose and mouth are much darker than the rest. If thats shading it doesn't make much sense.

Wheres the sun? if its sunset the shadows will be noticeable and cool in color.

Overall tho, its definitely (definately, hehe) an improvement :guts: :casca:

The second pic's still not done yet so its not really subject to crit. So far so good.

I agree with CnC, the subdued sunset background looks a lot better the way you have it now. Good work, keep it up! :serpico:
