Re: Who would perfectly incarnate Casca in a Berserk movie ?

I think it's pretty safe to say that most of us agree that she would be a black (or at least half) actress?...no?- well too bad it only makes sense. XD It's also safe to say Cameron Diaz would not be in the running though the first person who comes to mind would be the beautiful miss Halle Berry (or at least to me but that seems to be a common front runner).

But I also thought maybe Thandie Newton but that's purely based on looks alone.

Although I've seen this picture on various websites (no idea who this is) and I have to say there's something about this woman's eyes that really reminds me of Casca o_o

Can't say I know who she is either but I agree with you in saying I like the eyes.
But Halley Berry? no way, besides being too main stream I can't really see her maintaining a good performace without smiling too much; I can't see it.

Maybe this is a bit of crude reference but what about someone like this Rakhees (for the lack of knowing her real name)? I stumbled across a picture of her and thought MAAYBE.
Forgive the sexy image but it is a Casca pose (slight job-safe warning)

I always thought Casca was more Indian/dark skinned but not really black/African in decent, but that's just me, hence this reference.

Well, since there's no India or Africa in Berserk...

Well it's not like any of the others are based on her personality as well.

Her irises look black in this picture, so that fits the part, but Casca doesn't have slanted eyes, so I'd have to disagree. The rest of the face isn't much like her either in my opinion.

Really? You couldn't find anything better than a porn actress? I honestly think it's pretty sad... That sleazy look on her face, yep, just like Casca! :schierke: And I personally don't think this woman really looks like her either, aside from having a dark complexion.

Well she doesn't have "negroid features" if that's what you mean, and her skin color is dark but not too much. Anyway, to quote myself:

To be honest I don't think the finer details of her skin color really matter, nor that it can be related to a particular location or ethnic group in the real world.

Hmm, the point Rhombaad and I were trying to make is that it's useless to compare her to an ethnicity from the real world because she can't truly correspond to any of them.

As I said it was the eyes that got me. And maybe Halle Berry is mainstream but if you've seen Monster's Ball... There wasn't much smiling in that part. XD

O_O That's a porn star! OMG! XD ...Well I'm not sure she'd give the performance I'd want to see in a Berserk movie. *crude gesture*

Re: Who would perfectly incarnate Casca in a Berserk movie ?

Haha well I wasn't exactly saying she's the girl to play Casca, I was more using her as an example of what kind of skin tone etc. I am just a pervert with the internet so that happened to be the first thing I saw. But for legit actresses maybe Anjali Jay, she looks somewhat Casca-ish in Robin Hood. I really don't know many actresses.

Perhaps, who knows maybe she's a half/half; I just don't notice any real "negroid features" (as Aaz put it) but maybe Mongolian due to time frame reasons?

Re: Who would perfectly incarnate Casca in a Berserk movie ?

There simply is no real world counterpart, ideally it would have to be a mix of several features; almost like imagining an ideal woman, I guess it's pretty much different for everyone. As Aaz and Rhombaad pointed out there is not enough real world reference, or time frame, since Miura uses bits and pieces here and there to come up with something unique. I for one am quite glad to leave it at that.

Re: Who would perfectly incarnate Casca in a Berserk movie ?

Not only do I think the actress for Casca and every other character would have to be a no-name or less known person to fully immerse the viewer into the actual story but I think the director would have to be foreign (as in NOT pressed from the typical Hollywood mold) in order for the film to be successful. Otherwise it would probably be another appeal to the masses kind of film like all these Marvel movies lately that HEAVILY rely on cg that just doesn't quite look right and not to mention the lame one liners. It would also have to involve people who actually have a passion for the story and are fans, not just in it for the sake of having a paying job (as WAY too many actors seem to do). Ultimately I think it's not possible for such a film to come out and in the unlikely event that it somehow WAS going to happen it would be VERY, VERY bad...

I would not want Halle Berry or any other big name actor/actress violating something so great as Berserk.
