It seems to me that all the berserkers in animes/mangas/fantasy have huge, oversized swords. But who was the original that strated with this "trend"?

big man=strong powerful man
big sword=whoever controls the strong powerful sword is a strong powerful man

I mean, it's not exactly a trend. This question is like when did fast cars become a trend. It goes WAYYYYY back.
