Song covers better than the original

Post em here with your opinions on em and such. Don't wanna kill the thread with a big post, so my first addition is -

Johnny Cash's version of NIN's Hurt.

Apart from the melancholic video, Cash's voice fits the lyric in the best way ever. I don't know if anyone could top his version of the song. And, that video is just ... :judo:

I enjoy that version myself. You can hear the pain in his voice. Not certain but I think Johnny recorded that song in Trents studio. One of my favorite covers is Rage Against the Machines "In my Eyes" by Minor Threat

EDIT: Oh and Sonny Boy Williansoms Bring It On Home, covered by Led Zeppelin. One of my all time favorites

The most powerful performance I have ever witnessed.

That was the first song I thought of when I saw this thread's title-it had me in tears the first time I heard it.

I also love Gary Jules' cover of Mad World. The original Tears for Fears version a great song in it's own right, but I definitely think Jules' version trumps it.

When even the original songwriter agrees, and that songwriter is Bob Dylan, well...

Also, classic solo/lead guitar and still one of my favorites.

I like the Pierce the Veil cover of Bruno Mars too.

Totally this. I think the Dave Matthews cover isn't half bad either.

I could spend a while digging through covers looking for exceptional ones. For starters, Celldweller - Tragedy. The original is.. yeaaaah..

No More Mr. Nice Guy as covered by Megadeth, originally by Alice Cooper

CoF's cover of Hallowed be thy Name

SRV's version of Little Wing
